00:00now let's move to the state of wyoming are they watching very closely what's going on in illinois
00:05and trying to raise taxes as well there yeah wyoming again kind of an interesting note
00:12you know they've talked about online casino earlier this year i should say that uh but yeah
00:17there's a legislative committee that went ahead and they've sent forward or proposed three tax
00:24hikes in the gambling world that includes a doubling of uh online sports betting it's not
00:30a huge market of course it's the smallest state population wise so it's you know certainly not a
00:35a big amount of money uh but you know the sports book operators certainly don't like seeing their
00:41tax rates double and they have to pay more we'll see what happens uh it could pass you know it'll
00:47be tough sledding i think in the in the long run they're a pretty uh free free state up there so
00:53we'll see what happens um of note the chair of this legislative committee said you know
01:00kind of similar to maynard in massachusetts that they've we've let them come in have pretty much
01:05free reign we need to tighten up things a little bit and make sure we're getting what we need to
01:09get out of this and we can tighten up the regulations a little bit so we'll see um you know wyoming again
01:16tiny state not that much money to be made up there so i i you know that the state probably wants to bring
01:22in more the sports books would like to keep more not not see that tax pass but again early on in
01:28this process but a doubling which of course we saw fail earlier this year in ohio when you know mike
01:35dewine governor mike dewine proposed jumping from 20 to 40 percent uh in the budget that didn't pass but
01:42remember ohio did double theirs from 10 to 20 percent two years ago so similar to wyoming and yeah to
01:48your point illinois is a is an interesting tax uh situation and last year they passed the tiered
01:54system that took it from 15 flat tax to a 20 to 40 percent depending on how much revenue the sports
02:01books make and then this year went ahead and added those uh per bet taxes of uh 25 cents for the first
02:0920 million 20 million bets and then 50 for every bet after that which of course fanduel and draftkings have
02:15then said well if that's the case we're going to add a 50 cent per bet transaction fee uh which you
02:21can bet bettors in chicago are not a fan of and then of course you've got tax raises in maryland from
02:2715 to 20 percent in the budget process and then a you know a couple points raised from 15 to 21 percent
02:32down in louisiana taxes always a fun topic when it comes to sports betting and online gambling here on
02:40the here at lsr
