A 38-year-old customer service officer has been charged in the Magistrate’s Court in Temerloh, Pahang, with drug trafficking, drug possession, and two counts of dangerous driving following a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two 18-year-old motorcyclists.

00:00A customer service officer involved in a fatal accident that killed two teenage motorcyclists
00:07has been charged in the magistrate's court in Termurlo with drug trafficking, drug possession
00:13and two counts of dangerous driving.
00:15Thirty-eight-year-old Chon Kok Keong, whose address is in Kirpong, Kuala Lumpur, was accused
00:21of trafficking nearly 51 grams of methamphetamine in front of the Termurlo police headquarters
00:27at around 12.30 a.m. on June 12, Berita Harian reported.
00:32He nodded when the charge under Section 39 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 was read to
00:40him on Wednesday.
00:42The offence carries the death penalty, or if not sentenced to death, up to 40 years in
00:46prison and 15 strokes of the cane.
00:50No plea was recorded, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
00:55Chon also faces a separate charge under Section 12, Subsection 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Act
01:01Amendment 1988 for possessing 0.85 grams of heroin at the same time and location.
01:08If convicted, he faces up to five years imprisonment, a fine of up to RM100,000 or both.
01:14He pleaded not guilty to this charge.
01:17On the third and fourth charges, Chon was charged under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road
01:23Transport Act 1987, with dangerous driving resulting in the deaths of Noor Erdina Shafia Muhammad
01:30Nasri and Aniz Erdina Sofia Khairul Azman, both 18.
01:36The incident allegedly occurred at a traffic light along Jalan Turnku Ismail in Termurlo at
01:41around 10.50 p.m. on June 11.
01:45Chon faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to RM50,000 for each count.
01:51He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
01:54He was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Siti Fatima Mohammad Shahril.
01:59The court fixed September 18 for the mention of the drug charges and July 17 for the dangerous
02:05driving charges.
02:06The court also ordered Chon's driving license to be suspended pending the outcome of the
02:11trial.
