State Department Spokesperson Discusses The Task Force Supporting U.S. Citizens In The Middle East Amidst Conflict

During Tuesday’s State Department press briefing, Spokesperson Tammy Bruce answered questions about the task force established to help U.S. citizens in the Middle East region.

00:00yes sir yes hi thanks uh thanks for that could you give us some more details on this task force

00:06um how it's going to work and specifically if if it's going to help americans potentially

00:12leave the region be repatriated or depending on the countries that they're in and any more

00:18details you can give on that right um well um i won't be giving you just as a reminder of how

00:24today is a little bit of a different day for the briefing uh there is always things that i can't

00:30say to you and yet we have a long back and forth sometimes we have a little bit of debate i won't

00:36engage in that today my uh my responses will be perhaps a bit quicker than usual and i'll be

00:43moving around more quickly to reach as many of you as i can uh and um there will be there will be less

00:50that i can answer for you because of the circumstances that we're dealing with around

00:54the world uh so it is just want you to know it's not personal um but we're working on certain things

00:59like the task force as an example uh the task force uh is a group of people who are working taking the

01:05calls of people of american citizens around the world uh making sure that they get connected with

01:10what they may need in that region i won't go into the details of all that the task forces do of course

01:17but it's about information making sure people here at the state department and people

01:21that we get the information we need but also people around the world american citizens get

01:26directed to the information that they may need as well so i'm i'll leave it at that but this is

01:32something that the state department does when there's a situation that requires it and this is

01:37one of those times sure matt sure of course the phone number that you get if you call that number

01:44which i can do right now what do you who do you get you you get an individual who is the task force

01:50no you don't get the task force that phone number is it is a general phone number good the task force

01:55is busy but it's it is a separate unit that is established to take the calls to assist uh american

02:01citizens who call uh to the the embassies particularly you're going to be referred to embassies

02:07who can help you get what it is you need so good good question thank you sir
