Julian Mensah, founder of electric vehicle subscription startup Voltric, tells Wales Business Insider's Douglas Friedli about his company's expansion plans, intention to raise funding, and location in Wales.
00:00My name is Julian Mensah and I'm the founder of Valtric.
00:03Great, and what does Valtric do?
00:05So at Valtric we provide electric cars on a subscription basis where people pay one price a month to access an EV of their choice.
00:12So it's not just a car, it's insurance, tax, breakdown, everything you need for a road-ready electric vehicle.
00:18And we provide this to consumers, but actually our area of interest this year is really all about helping employees access EVs through the employer.
00:25And of course over the next 24 months we'll be looking at how we support businesses who decarbonise as well.
00:32Great, thanks. What does the year ahead look like for Valtric?
00:35So for the next 12 months, as I've mentioned, we're very focused on the sacrifice side of things.
00:41But of course we are a tech startup, so we are also raising funds for our investment round, purely to really invest in our technology development.
00:49So we can of course help businesses when they are looking to manage their fleets and go through that decarbonisation transition as well.
01:00So yeah, the next 12 months fundamentally is all about how we grow within startup sacrifice, help businesses and of course utilise our platform to support in that transition as well.
01:09And if all goes well in five years' time, what's it going to look like?
01:12In five years' time, you know, I'd like people to really think of Valtric as a strong mobility tech player within the space.
01:19Of course, we want to, as a company that has been adopted within Wales, we want to represent Wales, not just in Wales, but actually outside of Wales as well, in London and hopefully on a much global stage as well.
01:31And just briefly, why Wales?
01:32So, you know, since I started Valtric, the greatest support we've had has been in Wales through schemes like Angel Inverse Welsh from Defbank and of course various other stakeholders within the ecosystem from Tramshare to some of our investors and other parties as well.
01:49So it's relevant for us that actually we are a Welsh company because of the level of support we've had and the potential we see in ourselves to be able to grow now that we are a Welsh company as well.
