00:009-1-1, do you require? Please fire an ambulance.
00:20I am staying to keep my best friend kind of safer.
00:22A boyfriend is a convicted con artist.
00:25Okay.
00:26Since Jace is a fucking sociopath.
00:28He's been to jail a couple of times.
00:30He has emotional instability and anger management issues.
00:33And he said he's coming here in 20 minutes.
00:36He knows that we're on to him.
00:38I'm really scared.
00:41He keeps calling.
00:42Just don't answer.
00:44I'm not, I'm not.
00:45I'm scared.
00:46Okay, take a deep breath.
00:48That's why we're going to send police out there.
00:49Stay in the house.
00:50Keep the doors locked.
00:52Everything's locked.
00:53Okay, just take a deep breath.
00:55Do you know if he carries weapons at all?
00:58Do I hide in the closet?
01:03Do I hide in the closet?
01:03It's up to you.
01:06He's here.
01:07He's here.
01:07He's here.
01:08He's here.
01:18Oh my God.
01:18He's in there.
01:19He's in there.
01:20Please, please, please.
01:21Get out of the room.
01:22They're on the way.
01:22They're on the way.
01:23I'm hiding in the bedroom.
01:23I'm hiding in the bedroom.
01:24Kristen's on her cell phone in the closet talking to 911.
01:29And I just come running out.
01:33Oh God.
01:35Oh my God.
01:37Screaming.
01:38I know your name is Jason Porter.
01:40I know you've been stealing from my mom.
01:42And he just looked at me and was like, so?
01:45Who cares?
01:45Who cares?
01:46And he went and made himself a coffee.
01:55He had no remorse about any of it.
02:01The cops come.
02:04They come in the house.
02:07Jace offers them, can I make you a coffee?
02:10And they're like, no, no, we're good.
02:11I said to the cop, I don't feel safe.
02:16I don't feel comfortable living in my house with him anymore.
02:18If you don't feel safe, ma'am, you should leave.
02:21Because he's your co-tenant, he has every right to be here, ma'am.
02:26It didn't seem like they even really wanted to, like, hear Heather's story.
02:29It seemed like they just chalked it up to, like, you know, like a domestic situation.
02:34I said to the police, I'm like, what about a restraining order?
02:37Well, he hasn't hurt you.
02:38I'm like, oh my gosh.
02:41Merry Christmas, baby.
02:43I wish I had shown them these videos of him sitting on me, tickling me, because he was
02:47clearly hurting me.
02:48Okay, now you're on my way.
02:48Wait, you're on my way.
02:50Maybe that would have been construed as assault or abuse, physical abuse.
02:54Your face is so bad.
02:57My business is in this house, do you understand?
02:59Like, there's a whole lower level filled with furniture.
03:02How do I know if I leave, he's not going to pull up a moving truck and just steal from
03:05me, like, everything I've got?
03:06And the cop said, you guys can only take out of this house what's yours.
03:09I'm like, oh my God.
03:14They leave, and Jace then went into the office, and he took a cable and wrapped it around the
03:21door so I couldn't come in, and he proceeded to erase the computer.
03:24And then he left.
03:34The police had kind of made an agreement that Heather could get her things together since
03:45she didn't feel safe.
03:47So we got to work, like, packing up.
03:49There was no time for her to, like, process anything.
04:02Like, she would randomly cry, then be like, okay, let's pack.
04:06Like, it was just, we were going as quickly as we could to get things together.
04:09Everything down here, this is all graphics.
04:13This is my business.
04:14I bought it.
04:16I've been running it.
04:17And all this inventory is valued at around $300,000 retail.
04:22This is mine.
04:25This is mine.
04:26It's all mine.
04:27He doesn't own anything.
04:28I can't believe he stole all my mom's jewelry.
04:31Like, every time we went to the farm, he would have just been, like, sessing out where it
04:34was or looking around what he could steal.
04:38Three years.
04:39I gave this man three years of my life.
04:41He never loved me.
04:42It was all just about what he could take.
04:44There was never going to be an engagement ring.
04:47We were never going to go to Italy.
04:48Christmas was a joke.
04:50It was all a lie.
04:52All I was to this guy was a fucking meal ticket and a bank machine.
04:56He just used me.
05:00Her entire life was fake.
05:03Everything she knew, everything she loved, everything she believed was, like, a fantasy.
05:09There's a lot of scam artists out there.
05:12But, like, it takes a really special kind of sick person to involve, like, the emotions
05:17of, like, a real relationship and your child.
05:21I think she was really excited to be a stepmom.
05:25I think she was finally going to have her chance.
05:28It broke my heart.
05:29I felt horrid for my daughter.
05:34I just wanted to protect her and help her.
05:38And she moved into my new condo, which we hadn't moved into yet.
05:49I think I let her down badly.
05:53I probably should have been more forthright with Heather.
05:57I think I could have spared her a lot of her pain if I really just had it out with her.
06:02And then slowly went through all the signs that showed that he was a fraud and a crook.
06:08She was ashamed, because she kept saying, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
06:12I filed a claim against everything.
06:23And then the police wanted a report.
06:27My mom had this bracelet.
06:31It was, like, diamonds, rubies, emeralds, Tiffany bangles, Tiffany rings.
06:35Like, all gone.
06:35Gone, gone, gone.
06:36He also basically used my business bank card for his own piggy bank.
06:42He would pay for his child support.
06:45He would send himself e-transfer.
06:47Are all of those transactions on here?
06:49No, I didn't know.
06:50Are those transactions?
06:50Yeah, I can put it all together.
06:53And how much money has gone missing?
06:55Like, if you had to put a ballpark?
06:57$60,000 to $100,000.
07:00Easily, from me, probably another $150,000 worth of stuff.
07:04I found that he's been on welfare our entire relationship.
07:07He's denied a passport, because he's so far behind in child support payments with his first wife.
07:13And I didn't even realize he had two kids with her.
07:15For somebody who's done so much other damage, maybe the judge won't take it so lightly.
07:19So my therapist suggested writing a letter to him to express everything that I'm thinking, I'm feeling.
07:35And then she said to burn it.
07:38I swear to God, if it's the last thing I do, I'm going to make sure he never does this to anyone else ever again.
07:50My name is Jane Gerster, and I'm a reporter in Toronto.
08:10I specialize in criminal justice, policing, and intimate partner violence.
08:17In 2012, Jason pled guilty to 15 offenses, including fraud under $5,000, using a credit card obtained through fraud, and breaking and entering.
08:28And he was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
08:31The reaction that I got from people when I reached out to say,
09:00I want to talk about Jason Porter, was very different.
09:03His family didn't respond at all.
09:05I sent certified letters, and I said, this is what I'm writing about.
09:14I just thought of him, he's very, like, suave.
09:17He's a suave?
09:18Suave guy, Mr. Cool.
09:20Very, like, what's the word?
09:22He's very confident, so very confident.
09:24The meter's term, uberchakam.
09:26Uberchakam is, like, too smart for himself.
09:29What proved really useful in terms of actually understanding his past was finding the family court documents from Jason's marriage and the divorce.
09:41In 2007, Jason's wife filed for divorce.
09:45And in the aftermath, he photoshopped a picture of a bruise onto one of his children's faces,
09:50which launched a child welfare investigation against his wife,
09:54which was ultimately closed after they proved that it was fake.
09:58He was a con man, right?
10:00He was the worst con man I met.
10:01So, in terms of liars, he's probably up there on the liars.
10:04Because he lied.
10:05He didn't tell the truth what he was there for.
10:08Well, a warning for women registered with online dating sites.
10:11Be wary of those perfect dates.
10:13Handsome and charming.
10:15But this man is no dream date, according to Toronto police.
10:19They arrested Jason Porter late last week.
10:22Now, one of Porter's alleged victims is speaking out.
10:26We've agreed to protect her identity.
10:28Everything was a fraud.
10:30Everything.
10:30Everything having to do with me was premeditated.
10:33Yeah, it's been devastating.
10:35Now, court documents show that Jason Porter has a criminal history dating back to the mid-1990s for fraud, forgery and break and enter.
10:44He's due in court tomorrow on these latest fraud charges and will certainly be following this story.
10:49So, I reached out to multiple different women who had been victimized by Jace.
10:54Some people were just terrified that I'd even managed to find them and connect them and they didn't want their name anywhere near his ever again.
11:01Police say it's the bravery of women like Sarah that can stop this kind of fraud from continuing.
11:06Without you coming forward, that person will continue to commit crimes to other people as well.
11:10Yeah, Jason Porter appears to be doing the same thing now that he was doing a decade ago, two decades ago.
11:19I had a message on Messenger from Jane.
11:22Are you the Judy Wells that was married to Jace Parati?
11:26And I thought, what?
11:28I was completely shocked.
11:30So, my middle name is Ann, Judith Ann Wells, and the marriage certificate he created says Judith Elizabeth Wells.
11:37It says that he's from Italy and apparently he's not from Italy.
11:41Jace told other women that not only were we married in 1997, but that we had children together.
11:47One natural child that I had a child and that we adopted a child.
11:53None of that was true.
11:54It would make him look good if I had accepted him not only in a relationship, but as a husband with children.
12:04That says a woman, you know, that says a lot about him.
12:08And he could use that to his benefit.
12:10He needs to ingratiate himself with women so that they will support him financially, pay rent for him, keep him in a style that he wants to be accustomed to.
12:21While Jace was living with me, he carried this backpack around like a woman with a purse.
12:29I said, what do you got in there?
12:31So, one day I looked in it and I saw a letter in it and the letter said Jason Porter on it.
12:38I called a friend of mine and I said, look this name up.
12:41She said, it's very bad.
12:43He was a criminal.
12:44And I just felt sick and I just wanted to go back and get him out of my condo.
12:50So, I went back immediately.
12:51I'm shaking.
12:53He's calm as anything, no emotion.
12:55I said, I want my watch.
12:58I don't have your watch.
12:59And then he takes his watch out of the backpack.
13:02And I'm thinking, well, why do you have a woman's Rolex in your backpack?
13:06He says, but I can't give it to you now.
13:08I have to take it to court because it's an asset of mine.
13:11And I said, you have to leave.
13:14And he said, I know.
13:15I started to cry and I said, I don't know how I'm ever going to get over this.
13:19And he came over and hugged me.
13:20He said, don't worry, you'll be okay.
13:22And he left.
13:26He went to a hotel.
13:28He called me.
13:29He was drunk.
13:31And he was crying.
13:34And he said, I'm just going to kill myself.
13:37And I said, well, you can't do that.
13:41I don't know, I couldn't let go.
13:43It didn't make sense.
13:44I couldn't understand my brain.
13:45I didn't want to let go.
13:47I loved him.
13:48So it was very confusing.
13:52So I went to the hotel.
13:54And I went in and he was drunk.
13:56And he was kind of talking to himself.
13:58And he was doing something on the computer.
14:00And he said, it's like I have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other.
14:04And he just started talking gibberish.
14:06I didn't know what he was talking about.
14:07And I said, what are you doing?
14:09I said, you know, an hour ago I loved you.
14:11And he said, you don't love me.
14:14You love the man in the condo.
14:16I'm not that man.
14:17I said, I don't really know what to do at this point.
14:23What are you going to do?
14:23You can't live in a hotel.
14:25I don't want to go to a homeless shelter.
14:27And I never knew anything about homeless shelters.
14:29But it became obvious to me that he did.
14:32So I just said, well, I'm not giving you any more money.
14:35But I'll drive you somewhere.
14:38So he asked me to take him to a rooming house that he arranged.
14:42It was not a great area of the city.
14:45And it became apparent to me that he knew the area very well.
14:50And I said, OK, do you need to drive anywhere else?
14:53He said, I need to pick up some dishes.
14:54Can we go to the thrift store?
14:56I said, where's that?
14:57He knew exactly where it was.
14:59I said, I need gas.
15:01He said, well, don't go to that gas station because you'll get your car compromised at that one.
15:05Go to this one.
15:06I said, well, you need groceries.
15:07Where's the grocery store?
15:08He knew exactly where it was.
15:10I saw the food that he picked.
15:11He was buying cheesies and pop and bologna.
15:14And I'm thinking, this is the gourmet cook?
15:16I don't know who this guy is.
15:22I was going through some old Uber receipts.
15:26And this one jumped out at me because it says, thanks for riding, Jace.
15:32Even though it was my visa that got charged.
15:35And when I Google map the address, it's in the middle of nowhere.
15:41And I think this might be Jace's next mark.
15:44The online Romeo strikes again.
15:46So, Jace took from me my best friend of 25 years.
16:03She was full of life and energy and she was fun loving and she was kind.
16:10I was there for the birth of her children.
16:13And we were each other's maid of honours.
16:16Both of us had gone through a divorce a short period of time apart.
16:21And she's the kind of person that you were leaning on through this entire process.
16:27She was the person I was figuring life out with.
16:30And that all changed when Jace came into our life.
16:36I met Jace in the summer of 2021.
16:39I was born in Italy, travelled the world.
16:43I live just down the street.
16:44I have a furniture company downstairs.
16:46You can pick whatever you want.
16:48You need some throw blankets.
16:49You need pillows.
16:50You need anything.
16:52I'm the guy.
16:52They were talking every hour.
16:55I'm trying to talk to her.
16:56She's on the phone texting non-stop with him.
16:59Jace is sending me text messages from his phone.
17:02He is sending me videos of the two of them.
17:05He just sends this video of him at lunch with my best friend recording her.
17:12And that's when the Jace show began.
17:16What's your advice for dating?
17:17If you can't maintain how you love me and take care of me.
17:23Don't do it now.
17:24So over-promise and under-deliver.
17:27It pisses me off.
17:30And it kills me because she's so happy.
17:34And he's just going like this.
17:37And here's the candy.
17:39I just fed you the poison.
17:42So he moved in how many months?
17:45Two weeks.
17:47That's how fucking good this guy is.
17:50What Jace liked to do was to reach in underneath someone's ribs, get a hold of them, and just sort of crawl in.
18:01He was a con man of the worst elk because not only was he interested in stealing,
18:06but he hurt people who trusted him.
18:12And that is, in my estimation, unforgivable.
18:15I think he needs a home-based person.
18:20They are usually more age-appropriate so that he looks like a normal couple.
18:25And then there are the people he plans on robbing, which are probably not age-appropriate, but he convinces them they are.
18:33He would take a watch or whatever earrings, whatever it was, and, you know, when the woman realizes, oh, I need to put my earrings on a week or two later, where did they go?
18:41She's going to assume she lost them.
18:42I think he stole a lot of stuff that way on just, like, short jobs.
18:46And he just used Heather as, like, yeah, his office.
18:49As soon as somebody gets too close to him, I think he moves on because he doesn't want to get caught.
18:55And often he does get caught, and that still hasn't stopped him.
18:59He's a menace, and I hope that he's dealt with harshly by the courts.
19:07Romance scams are one of the most prolific frauds across Canada right now.
19:12They cost people tens of millions every year.
19:16And that's just from the cases that we know.
19:18It's a very underreported crime.
19:21People feel shame.
19:22They feel like they should have known.
19:23They feel called out.
19:24And they're not interested in coming forward and having to expose the fact that they might have missed something or that they fell head over heels for someone who was telling them a lie.
19:37So, this is my box of evidence.
19:43It's all kinds of stuff.
19:45I gathered from the house that was hidden under the bed, hidden in the fake drawer, or just, you name it, I found it.
19:54One night, he put this necklace around my neck saying I deserved a little treat.
19:58There was no box.
19:59There was no nothing.
20:01Like, I don't know where it came from.
20:04Heather was unique in that respect.
20:07She was no holds barred.
20:08She was like, whatever you need to know, I will tell you.
20:11Every single bit of information she had that she could share that might shed more light on the fraudster himself, she was willing to do.
20:19Like, he literally came home from work and gave me three women's watches.
20:24Any woman watching this, if you ever dated Jace and you owned one of these watches, I would be happy to give them back to you.
20:33I don't want them.
20:35I think what is really noteworthy about Heather is that she hasn't just searched for answers for herself,
20:42but she's also searched for answers for other people who have been victimized by Jace.
20:48Heather found it in his computer, a photo of him holding my watch in front of my couch.
20:55She said, is this your watch?
20:57I said, yeah, that's my couch.
20:59And through her dedication, she has been able to make an impact in other people's cases as well.
21:12Jen had posted a picture of her and Jace at a Blue Jays game together.
21:20There was a mutual friend of Heather and of Jen that had seen this picture.
21:26This girl decides to call the family.
21:29They do a full investigation into him in just a few hours.
21:32They have copies of his mugshots, the CBC report.
21:36We were sent all of the information on who Jace really was.
21:42Liquids inside this gauze box.
21:44A syringe filled with his steroids.
21:49That's how he got those big, beefy muscles.
21:51Not naturally.
21:54So now Jace has been exposed.
21:57So Jen was confronted by the family and an intervention was staged.
22:01We've got a problem here.
22:03You're dating a convicted felon.
22:06This is my missing MasterCard I found headed under the bed.
22:10Prepaid visa.
22:11Prepaid visa.
22:12Prepaid visa.
22:13Prepaid visa.
22:14I'm sure he used those to take women out on dates.
22:17And probably to make sure the charges never showed up on my graphics business account.
22:22Jace was removed from the home immediately.
22:25And in that moment, Jen feels her life has been completely devastated.
22:32She is screaming as if somebody has killed her.
22:35And that is when I reached out to Heather and I said, I don't know who you are, but I need
22:46you to know I'm sorry and I believe you.
22:49All of my mom's jewelry bags and boxes that were left in her safe, I'm guessing he stole this
22:58from somebody thinking maybe some of these coins were worth some money.
23:01This is kind of odd.
23:02This is kind of odd.
23:04It's like he's practicing some kind of signature, but the fact that it's just on a page makes
23:09me wonder if he's like uploading it and scanning it to something.
23:13I don't know whose name that is.
23:15It doesn't look like his.
23:19Heather did everything she could to save Jen.
23:28She tried.
23:29She had conversations saying, I'm here for you.
23:32If you need something, call me.
23:33If you have any questions, I will answer them for you.
23:37A burner phone.
23:38And then all these SIM cards.
23:40I know he changed his phone number often.
23:42And it's funny, whenever I've talked to any of the other women, they all say it was weird
23:46that they wouldn't hear from him for months at a time.
23:49And then all of a sudden he WhatsApp them, but he'd have a different number.
23:54Jace had turned it up a notch.
23:56He was sending Jen messages saying goodbye.
24:01You can have all of my stuff.
24:03I will always love you.
24:05You're the most incredible woman I've ever met.
24:07You are my forever.
24:09You are my heart.
24:10Goodbye.
24:11And he sends her a picture of him drinking bleach.
24:19And then she gets a voice message from Jace's stepfather that says Jace was just brought
24:25to the ICU.
24:26Hi Jennifer, it's Mike.
24:30Listen, I know this has been really hard on you.
24:33I'm not really sure how I can help with your situation.
24:36The only thing I'm sure of is that he loves you more than anything in the world.
24:41And he's having a tough time dealing with the separation.
24:44Oh my God.
24:47This is the fakest shit I've ever heard in all my life.
24:49She honestly thinks she now has to go and save his life.
24:58Heather finds the receipt that Jace actually paid an actor to record those so that he could
25:07leave it on Jen's cell phone.
25:08They start talking again after he supposedly gets out of ICU.
25:13He needs to see her.
25:16And she goes over.
25:18They spend the night together.
25:19He gets every claw he can back into her.
25:23After that night, there's an answer for everything.
25:26So I lied that I was born in Italy.
25:29It was because I really didn't want you guys to find out that I was a con man.
25:35So I fucked up.
25:36I made a mistake.
25:37I paid for that.
25:38I went to jail.
25:38I served my time.
25:40And I wasn't willing to tell you yet because I really, really love you.
25:46Because you really are the one.
25:48Heather, Desiree, your family, those are all the people that are going to be a problem for us.
25:54Come back to me, Jen.
25:56Come back to me.
25:57So Jen and I have it out.
26:00It almost led to a physical altercation.
26:03I am begging her to have a good look around.
26:09Anybody that has ever been in contact with Jace Peretti, his brothers, everybody, his entire family,
26:15never wants to see her speak to this man again.
26:18He managed to convince her that all of these things, all of these women coming forward,
26:22all of these stories are not true.
26:27He wins.
26:29And there is no stop to him.
26:32There's nobody that can stop him.
26:37Maybe until Heather.
26:38It is through Heather's own sort of due diligence in following the thread of what was stolen from her mother
26:48that she has been able to bring forward enough evidence for Jason now to be in a position of potentially facing
26:56much more serious consequences of theft over 5,000, 10 years in federal prison as opposed to two years in provincial jail.
27:04Off we go.
27:12Oh my gosh, it's so early.
27:16Today is day one of the trial.
27:21This morning is jury selection.
27:23It's so crazy.
27:25He was arrested in September 2021, and today is January 15th, 2024.
27:33I don't know if that's a sad commentary on the Ontario criminal justice system, if it's that backlog.
27:42But I do know there were quite a few delays getting to here, mainly because of him and his lawyer.
27:53I'm not afraid of him.
27:55I just feel seeing him is a bit of a reminder of the trauma that he caused.
28:04Oh my god, it's so cold.
28:18That's him.
28:19Get him.
28:23Hey, Chase.
28:28Classic.
28:31Do you have anything you want to say?
28:34Is there anything you want to say, Chase?
28:44He messed with the wrong person this time.
28:46That's all I'm going to say.
28:48Like, he messed with the wrong person.
28:50I'm not going to take this sitting down, because he needs to be stopped.
28:56So this is the first step towards justice.
29:02Well, that's weird.
29:04Why are all these people leaving?
29:07I don't know what's happening.
29:09The jury was sent home.
29:12But I don't even know if they got a chance to pick the jury.
29:14I have no idea what's going on.
29:16And so hopefully the Crown Attorney will let me know.
29:20I have no idea what's going on.
29:27Hey.
29:28Hey.
29:28Court got delayed again.
29:31What?
29:32You're kidding me.
29:33Nope.
29:33Nope.
29:34Because now they're saying...
29:35How is that possible?
29:35Well, because now they're saying there was jury tampering.
29:38And they're pointing the finger at me.
29:41How?
29:42Apparently, Jace found all over the cars in the parking lot these flyers that say,
29:47guilty, Jace Parati.
29:50And it's a picture of him.
29:52And then at the bottom, it says, for more information, contact Heather Ovette at Gmail.
29:57Where the hell would he get this idea from now?
30:00Oh, probably Law & Order.
30:02He loves that show.
30:02We watch, like, every episode during lockdown.
30:05Wow.
30:05I didn't see that coming.
30:07This can't be real life.
30:08I have to prove myself that...
30:10Yeah, I have to prove that I didn't do this.
30:11It's ridiculous.
30:12It's ridiculous.
30:13It's such bullshit.
30:14We know exactly who did this.
30:16I know.
30:16Have you told your mom yet?
30:18No.
30:18I have to call her, but it's gotten so late.
30:21She's probably already in bed, and I don't want to ruin her night.
30:24Let me know how your mom's doing tomorrow.
30:25I will.
30:26And stay in touch.
30:28I will.
30:28Ciao.
30:29Bye.
30:35Hey, Mom.
30:37Hi, Heather.
30:38Oh, my gosh.
30:39It's just more delays.
30:42More delays.
30:43More delays.
30:44Once again, we didn't get our trial set.
30:49I'm speechless because, once again, he's done it.
30:53Once again, he's trying.
30:56To get away with it.
30:57And I'm so frightened that he's going to because he just delays and delays to his own advantage.
31:05I know.
31:06He's in three different criminal courts in Ontario with five different sets of charges, and nobody seems to connect the dots.
31:14Like, nobody seems to fucking care.
31:16Like, nobody seems to fucking care.
31:17I know.
31:17And it's like, I don't understand.
31:21Like, Mom, my Lou is so much guilt around this.
31:24Like, I feel so bad what he did to you.
31:28And I can never give you back.
31:29And I can never give you back the things he took from you.
31:33And I know it's just stuff, but it's like, I brought him into our home.
31:38I know.
31:39I know.
31:40And it's memories.
31:43Memories.
31:44Memories.
31:45Memories.
31:46That he erased.
31:47Why?
31:48And he plays the system.
31:52I know.
31:53Time after time after time.
31:55And he's, they may say something, but they never really punish him.
32:00No.
32:01For all his actions.
32:02No.
32:03Ugh.
32:04I don't know, Mom.
32:06I love you so much.
32:08I know.
32:09I love you too, Beth.
32:12I just feel so bad.
32:15And I'm so angry with the system.
32:18Anyway, Heather, I want to go because we gotta go out.
32:21And I have to tell you, whenever this comes up, it just sets me back.
32:26And makes me very sad.
32:28So I think I'm gonna go.
32:31Okay, sweetie.
32:32No, no, no.
32:33I need to go for a walk or something and shake this off.
32:35Okay.
32:36Okay, I love you.
32:37Bye.
32:38Bye, I love you.
32:39Bye.
32:40Bye.
33:07I don't think that we can judge these women.
33:10How vulnerable they must be to put everything on the line to sit here to hand you their photos,
33:16conversations, sex life, everything.
33:19It's not easy to sit here and talk about it.
33:22There's some embarrassing things about it.
33:24You know, you have family, you have friends, I have children, I have grandchildren.
33:28You don't want to be known as the woman who got fooled by a con man.
33:33I think we all want that fairy tale.
33:38You meet this guy, he seems so perfect, he's getting along with everybody in your circle.
33:44He's charming, he's funny, he owns his own business, he's well to do, he's kind, he's attentive.
33:52That's true.
33:53And then he wants to marry you, on top of everything.
33:57He's choosing you for the rest of his life.
34:01Some people will just use it as an opportunity to find you at fault, and that makes me sad.
34:08But I feel like the opposite of being weak is to face that front and center.
34:17I know who you are.
34:18I see you.
34:20Soon your son is going to be able to Google whatever name he thinks you have, whether it's
34:26Jace, Jason, Don, I don't know.
34:29That's not a man.
34:30That's a fraud.
34:31It's a coward.
34:32It's a liar.
34:33And right now that's the legacy that you are leaving for your children.
34:38Fuck, that's sad.
34:42But it's true.
34:47I'm just on my way home from the gym.
34:50I went to do a boxing workout so I could get some aggression out.
34:56And we have court again tomorrow to pick up where we left off last week when he was a
35:03no-show.
35:04So, I don't know.
35:07If I was a betting woman, I might guess he's not going to show.
35:13He is incredibly unwell.
35:16And I think he needs psychiatric help.
35:20And I think he will continue to do that until the courts stop him.
35:29In 2014, when Jason Porter got out of federal prison and changed his name to Jace Perotti,
35:37he started right where he left off back online.
35:42He was with Judy, Leslie, Tiffany, Helena, and me.
35:49And now he's with this new woman, Jen.
35:53The sad thing is, we know he's still out there.
35:57Helena saw him on the apps just like a month ago.
36:00And he hasn't stopped.
36:03This guy, even if he gets reported to an app and they take his profile down,
36:09it's like whack-a-mole.
36:10He's just back up.
36:12Within days, he'll be back up on an app.
36:19Ugh.
36:20Tired.
36:22Are you afraid of him?
36:25I'm a little afraid of him.
36:29I think he feels entitled to do this, to just bulldoze through people's lives
36:33and doesn't feel any empathy.
36:36I don't know what he's capable of.
36:41I really don't.
36:44Do you?
36:49I'm happy now.
36:50I have someone wonderful in my life.
36:52And, you know, I got over it.
36:54Took a lot of work.
36:55I won't give him any more space in my brain after I'm done with this interview.
37:01It's been over four years now since I first met Don Peretti.
37:05And I've heard from him just as recently as last week.
37:09And the message simply said,
37:11Hey.
37:13Obviously I didn't reply.
37:14My dad passed away on October 16th.
37:25He had a stroke and he never gained consciousness.
37:30And he was a really, really, not only an incredible father, a really good man.
37:43It makes me really sad that he's not around to see justice done.
37:50I miss him.
37:52And right now my mom should be concentrating on her grief, not on Jason Porter, Jace Peretti, stealing her stuff.
38:02I mean, this should have, this should have been wrapped up two years ago, not three years and three months later.
38:08There are people out there who want to hurt you, who are liars, who are thieves, who are con men.
38:18And if the little hairs in the back of your neck stand up once, that's enough of a message to, you know, to just turn around and walk away.
38:27And not be afraid to turn around and walk away.
38:31What I learned in all of this is listening to female intuition.
38:37When I started dating again, I'm up front.
38:40If I see a red flag, I'm gone.
38:43I'm out.
38:44Because red flags turned into flaming fires of hell sometimes.
38:57You know, I'm tired.
39:07I gave this six years plus of my life and it's time to move on.
39:14I'm happy.
39:16I'm really happy.
39:27Good Lord.
39:30Good Lord.
39:31i-
