00:45Applications for new student housing and for a student flat block to be used as short-term lets over the summer have been approved by Edinburgh councillors.
00:52A new 134-bed student flat complex in Dalry was given permission,
00:57despite locals' complaints that there were already too many student beds in the area.
01:01Around 10% of the beds in the development off West Park Place will be studios,
01:05with the rest of the beds being in cluster flats.
01:07The development will be across the street from an already existing student flat block,
01:11where rooms and shared flats start at £840 per month.

01:17Edinburgh Police Recover Gun Amid Gang Attacks Probe
01:20Police in Edinburgh have recovered a gun in Roseburn Path as part of an ongoing investigation into gang attacks.
01:27Officers recovered the weapon at around 11am on Wednesday, June 11th, as part of Operation Portalage.
01:33The forces investigation into violent incidents in the east and west of the country.
01:38It is one of a number of weapons which have now been recovered.
01:41Police said extensive enquiries are ongoing,
01:43and I urge anyone who knows something that could assist with our investigation to please contact to us.
