00:30The EU and UK have reached a long-awaited agreement to ease cross-border trade and travel in Gibraltar
00:37following years of post-Brexit wrangling over the contested territory.
00:43Britain and Spain have spent years negotiating a deal to ensure the free movement of people and goods
00:50across the British overseas territory's land border with Spain.
00:54Until now, one of the key sticking points was how the border would be managed.
01:00The new agreement eliminates physical barriers, checks and controls on people and goods moving between Spain and Gibraltar.
01:08Our shared and overarching objective has been to secure the region's long-term prosperity,
01:17particularly by removing all physical barriers, checks and controls on people and goods
01:23crossing between Spain and Gibraltar while preserving the integrity of the Schengen area,
01:30the EU single market and the customs union.
01:33All sides were keen to reach a deal before the EU's new entry-exit system takes effect later this year.
01:42The British government said the deal resolves the last major unresolved issue from Brexit,
01:48while Spain's foreign minister hailed it as historic.
01:51Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic visited Ukraine on Wednesday in what marks his first ever trip to the country.
02:08He is scheduled to take part in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Odessa,
02:13Serbia's presidential office announced.
02:17According to Euronews sources,
02:20Vucic's participation in the summit signals Serbia's realignment with the EU
02:24regarding Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
02:30Serbia has positioned itself as neutral in the conflict,
02:33but Vucic's recent visit to Moscow during the annual Victory Day parade
02:37drew sharp criticism from Brussels.
02:40His visit was deemed to have contradicted EU membership criteria
02:44and to potentially hurt Serbia's accession to the bloc.
02:53At least three people were killed and 60 wounded
02:55in a large-scale Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv
02:59overnight into Wednesday.
03:00Mayor Igor Terekov said 17 strikes hit two districts in just 10 minutes,
03:06setting a large apartment building on fire with nine children among the injured.
03:12Ukraine's Air Force said 85 drones were launched across the country overnight
03:16with 49 neutralized by air defenses.
03:20This comes after the death toll from Russian strikes on Kiev and Odessa
03:23on Tuesday morning rose to at least three people.
03:26On Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed frustration
03:30at the lack of an international response to the recent escalation.
03:35He noted a record number of nearly 500 drones and missiles
03:38were launched on Monday night, including some made in North Korea.
03:44Zelenskyy stated that these attacks are hindering all peace efforts.
03:47The United States and China reached a framework agreement to solve their trade disputes
04:00after months of tensions.
04:04The talks were concluded in London between the two delegations.
04:08On Monday, US President Trump said he would open the Chinese markets to American products.
04:21Last week, Trump and his Chinese counterpart held a long phone conversation
04:37regarding the trade war between the two countries.
04:40The latest installment of their dispute began in February,
04:45when Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese imports
04:48and was followed by a series of announcements of increased tariffs.
04:52At their peak, they exceeded 100 percent.
04:59Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass declared a local emergency
05:02and issued a 10-hour curfew in an effort to stop vandalism and looting
05:07amid the unfolding chaos.
05:08The curfew will run from 8 p.m. on Tuesday to 6 a.m. on Wednesday local time
05:14and affects an area just over 2.5 square kilometers in downtown Los Angeles.
05:19Bass says the decision had to be taken after 23 businesses in the area
05:23were victim to looting and theft.
05:26The curfew does not, however, apply to residents of the designated area,
05:30accredited media personnel, and law enforcement officers.
05:34It comes as protests in the city continue to rage
05:37against U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration raids,
05:40part of his latest crackdown.
05:42The riots were further exacerbated after Trump authorized the deployment of 5,000 troops,
05:47mainly National Guard, but also Marines, to quell the riots.
05:52The deployment of troops came of his own accord
05:54and without Governor Gavin Newsom's request or approval.
05:57Newsom has slammed Trump over the decision which he called unlawful,
06:01as he accused the U.S. president of subverting democracy.
06:04He also warned other states that California is the start,
06:08but not the end of Trump's growing authoritarianism.
06:12The Democrat governor has also filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration
06:16and asked the federal court to block National Guard troops
06:19from assisting in immigration raids.
06:21A judge has set a hearing on the matter for Thursday.
06:24No, it can only go right by having the...
06:26Europe's largest startup and tech fair, VivaTech, is back in Paris.
06:35Over four days, 165,000 visitors
06:39and more than 13,000 startups from 50 countries
06:43are converging under one roof.
06:46This year, Artificial Intelligence or AI is once again
06:50the undisputed star of the event.
07:12et on va décrypter ça pendant quatre jours.
07:14Among this year's standouts, innovations using AI
07:18to support mental health, like Immobot,
07:22a startup monitoring mood disorders passively and remotely.
07:58Another solution to improve mental well-being
08:00comes from Amwa, which emerges neuroscience
08:03with scent to trigger emotional shifts
08:06in just a few minutes.
08:28At Vivatech, innovation isn't just about faster processors
08:32or smarter apps.
08:34It's also about caring for our minds
08:35one algorithm or one scent at a time.
08:43A lack of updated map data
08:45is making the fight against wildfire in Europe inefficient
08:48according to a report by the European Court of Auditors.
08:52The report analyses how Greece, Spain, Poland and Portugal
08:56use EU funds to prevent wildfires.
08:59While it acknowledges significant investment in prevention,
09:04the institution notes that the data used is updated.
09:09For instance, it was found that in Greece
09:12the list of areas prone to forest fires
09:15is more than 45 years old.
09:18The report additionally says
09:20there is a little monitoring
09:22of the actual impact of EU spending on the ground.
09:25It reviewed projects funded since 2014
09:30through the European Structural and Investment Funds
09:33and the Recovering and Resilience Facility.
09:37Auditors concluded that the projects selected
09:40to receive EU funds
09:41do not always target areas
09:43where the impact will be the greatest.
09:45This week, Uzbekistan welcomed high-level European delegation
09:55strengthening its role as a key partner in Central Asia.
09:58The diplomatic push centered on
10:00the Tashkent International Investment Forum
10:02which opened on Tuesday.
10:05Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Foucault
10:07and Bulgarian President Roman Radev
10:09were among the important guests.
10:11In his keynote speech,
10:12President Shevket Mirziyoyev highlighted
10:14the country's economic reforms
10:15and ambition to become
10:16an international investment hub.
10:18The visit by Bulgarian President Radev
10:38focused on cooperation in IT,
10:40tourism and labor migration.
10:43Meanwhile, with Slovak Prime Minister Foucault,
10:46Mirziyoyev signed a declaration
10:47on a new strategic partnership on Monday.
10:50There are two directions actually.
10:52One direction is like to
10:54reestablish our existing supply chain
10:58for our companies located in Slovakia
11:01and on the other hand
11:03and on the other hand also
11:03to enter new markets
11:05in Central Asian part of the world.
11:09So it means to invest in Uzbekistan.
11:12Their talks included plans
11:13for industrial cooperation in green energy
11:15and automotive manufacturing
11:17as well as joint digital initiatives.
11:19Sustainable Investment,
11:20they have an ambitious plan
11:22to have 54% of energy coming from renewable
11:27by 2030
11:28and they are very active
11:29in investing in renewable
11:30and attracting foreign direct investment
11:33in renewable.
11:34The meetings underscore
11:36Uzbekistan's strategy
11:37of deepening ties with the EU
11:39and positioning itself
11:40as an attractive emerging market.
