00:00It is no good investing in new skills, new jobs and new homes if they are not properly connected.
00:06That is why last week, with the support of my right honourable friend, the Transport Secretary,
00:12I announced £15 billion of investment to connect our cities and our towns.
00:17The biggest ever investment of its kind.
00:20Investments in buses in Rochdale, train stations in Merseyside and Middlesbrough,
00:25mass transit in West Yorkshire and metro extensions in Birmingham, in Tynumweir and in Stockport.
00:33And alongside that, we are backing Doncaster Airport.
00:37Today I am announcing a four-year settlement for Transport for London
00:41to provide certainty and stability for our largest local transport network to plan for the future.
00:47And for other regions in the UK, I am today providing for a four-fold increase
00:54in local transport grants by the end of this Parliament
00:57to make the improvements put off for far too long
01:00to improve the journeys that people make every day.
