00:11Today let's rewind to the reign of King Rama I.
00:14One day, the king suddenly craved grilled monitor lizard eggs with mangoes dean.
00:19Yes, it was the delicacy back then.
00:22But it was an egg-laying season, so none could be found.
00:25Zhao Jom Van, a royal consort known for her cooking,
00:28she mixed glutinous rice flour stuffed with the mung bean paste,
00:32shaped it like eggs, deep-fried them, and rolled them in the sugar and salt,
00:36mimicking the rich and savory flavor of the real thing.
00:40She served it with the mangosteen just like the king wanted, and guess what?
