During remarks on the Senate floor Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spoke about DOGE staffers remaining at the Social Security Administration despite Elon Musk's departure from the Trump administration.
Transcript
00:00On Social Security.
00:03Elon Musk might have been run out of town, but his handiwork lives on at the Social Security
00:08Administration.
00:09Remember he called Social Security a big Ponzi scheme?
00:12Well he's gone.
00:13But Social Security Administrator, newly put in, despite vehement opposition from Democrats
00:18because he's known as Mr. Causton Byrne, Frank Pizzignano said that, Musk or not, Doge
00:27will remain king at SSA.
00:29Doge.
00:30Remember that, folks?
00:32The chainsaw?
00:33Well, it's going to be alive and well at Social Security with Mr. Bizzignano in charge, Mr.
00:39Slash and Byrne, Mr. Cut, Cut, Cut.
00:42It's alarming that even after Elon Musk became persona non grata among Trump circles, the Social
00:49Security Administrator still wants to keep using his failed playbook to oversee senior's Social
00:56Security checks.
00:59Social Security is sacred in America.
01:01Even after Musk's departure, which occurred in part because of Doge's failure, this administration
01:07is talking about applying Doge strategies to Social Security, probably the most popular
01:12and Sanktorsak program passed in the last hundred years.
01:16It shows how the billionaires, like Elon Musk and Howard Blutnik, remember what he said?
01:21He said his mom could afford to miss a payment or two.
01:23It shows that these billionaires are running the show and they are callous and cruel.
01:27They have no understanding of how average senior citizens depend on that Social Security check.
01:33It's a disgrace and Donald Trump and his political cohort will pay a political price for endangering
01:41this popular program.
01:43It's nice to talk about efficiency, but by now we know there is nothing efficient about Doge.
01:49It led to closures, longer wait times on the phone, glitches online and an immense anxiety for seniors.
01:57Bizignano should send Doge staffers packing before they cause more trouble with seniors' Social Security benefits.
02:05Don't you think he's going to pay a deposit and have no help aten the catalog.
02:06Let him pay a lot.
02:07So that's a good fee and say, is it important to pay him to pay attention, yet?
02:10I don't know.
02:11But, to see, we have no money.
02:12It's going to pay attention, don't you?
02:13So that's what we say.
02:14That's what we can do, not to pay attention, it's going to pay attention to the record.
02:15So that's what we are getting forward to.
02:16I'm hoping to get through this.
02:17We'll be getting through it.
02:18I think we're getting through this number of years.
02:19You have to do the work that we can do with bolла, and we can do it.
02:21We can do that generally.
02:22We're getting through it.
02:23But, we're getting through it.
