00:00Good afternoon everyone, we had a great meeting with the president and
00:07a number of special guests there and just wanted to share with you a couple of
00:11thoughts by way of update.
00:14Ever since the House passed the One Big Beautiful Bill and sent it to the Senate,
00:18we've had increasing momentum for this legislation, it's grown rapidly.
00:23We do have a great sense of urgency about getting this done,
00:26there are a number of reasons for that.
00:28In the few weeks since we passed our bill, we've witnessed a horrific anti-Semitic
00:33terrorist attack in Boulder, it was carried out by someone who was not supposed to be
00:37in our country.
00:38And we've had illegal alien agitators taken to the streets in the city of Los Angeles.
00:44The One Big Beautiful Bill funds deportations so we can get these criminals out of our country
00:48and it also funds border security at unprecedented historic levels.
00:53So President Trump's secured border will stay secure in the future.
00:57Meanwhile, the debt limit is rapidly approaching and the expiration of the 2017 tax cuts is
01:03closer and closer with each passing day.
01:07Despite the abundance of false narratives, the more the American people hear from us about
01:10the bill, the more they like it because they understand that this is written for and geared
01:14towards hard-working Americans, the people who are really working their hardest to provide
01:19for their family and to make ends meet, this is going to give them extraordinary relief.
01:25And there's no daylight between myself and Leader Thune and the White House team here to help deliver
01:31this relief for the American people who have suffered so greatly over the last four years.
01:36Republicans are going to do what we said we would do and we will do it apparently without the Democrats' help.
01:41But we're going to stop illegal immigration, restore American energy dominance, bring back common
01:47sense, keep taxes low for American workers and families to get this economy going again,
01:52while we restore peace through strength and we have regulatory reform and all the other
01:56components of this bill that are going to help all boats rise.
01:58So we're really enthusiastic about it, as you know.
02:01We're very excited to get to the finish line and we're very close.
02:04And the anticipation, the expectation, and the goal all along is if you get it done by Independence Day,
02:09and I think we're on track to do that.
02:11So we'll be up next to Chairman Jason Smith with the Ways and Means, please.
02:16Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
02:17The one big beautiful bill is the largest tax cut in U.S. history.
02:24It makes permanent all the expiring provisions of the 2017 successful Trump tax cuts.
02:31It provides no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, tax relief for seniors.
02:37It helps lower the rate for anything that's produced in the United States.
02:42These are win-win.
02:44The average family, the average family of four, if we don't pass this tax bill,
02:50we'll see a $1,700 tax increase.
02:54If we pass this tax bill, they will see a $1,300 decrease in taxes.
03:03The biggest winners within this bill are those single mothers with two kids that is a waitress,
03:13or the lineman that works overtime, or the firefighter who works overtime, or the senior who's an Uber driver.
03:20These are people who have been struggling under the Biden economy.
03:24And this will only make their lives easier to put food on their table, clothes on their backs,
03:29and gasoline in the car.
03:30Today, we had really good conversation about a provision within the big beautiful bill.
03:36And that was the Trump investment accounts.
03:39This is something that allows every single American born will have an investment account created.
03:47And it will not matter if you live on a city block or if you live on a county road.
03:52You're all going to have the same start that you're connected to the economy of the United States.
03:57And if the economy of the United States grows, your investment account will grow.
04:02I'm happy to turn it over to Blake Moore.
04:05Thank you, Chairman Smith, Blake Moore.
04:07I'm a member of Jason Smith's committee, the Ways and Means Committee.
04:10And for over a year, I think I've done the most professionally gratifying thing and be able to work on something that's going to provide so much economic growth opportunity for our nation.
04:19But what this bill doesn't get enough attention on is the family aspect of the one big beautiful bill.
04:25The tax reconciliation bill is, I would say, probably the largest portion of this entire tax effort has been to support families.
04:35Two provisions from that I'll briefly highlight and step back.
04:40The child tax credit in 2017, Republicans doubled.
04:44Not something we get credit for, but reminding, we wanted to support and invest in families to be able to go through all the expenses that they go through.
04:51We doubled that in 2017.
04:52It's set to go back to $1,000 this year if we don't get this bill done.
04:57But not only are we making it $2,000, making it permanent, and indexing it to inflation, we're actually providing an enhancement to that to up to $2,500 to be able to support families across the country.
05:09But we didn't just stop there.
05:11We created this provision that's been an enormous amount of good work from a CEO of counsel that was here today, meeting with the President, called the Invest America Act, also known as the Trump Accounts, that are going to provide seed funding to every single child born over the next few years.
05:25Creating them an opportunity to learn what compounding interest does.
05:29So when they're 18, they're going to see something that has grown significantly bigger than what it was when they first had it.
05:35And then when they're 30, it's going to even be better.
05:37And it's giving them hope and a launch pad to be able to live the American dream.
05:40And it's something that I can honestly say I don't know of anything more gratifying to be a part of.
05:44And I'll turn back to the speaker.
05:46Speaker Johnson, what is your ask for Zune and the rest of the Senate Republicans?
05:52Can the House live with a cap lower than $40,000?
05:55You mean on salt?
05:56Salt.
05:57Well, I've asked them to modify it as little as possible because I've got a very delicate balance there.
06:01And it took us the better part of a year to negotiate that fix.
06:05And I understand that Republicans in the Senate are not in love with the idea of raising the salt cap.
06:11And nor am I.
06:12I also come from a red state.
06:13But the reality is that we have a very diverse conference.
06:16And we have House Republicans all over the country.
06:18And some of them come from these blue states.
06:20And this is a very important thing for their constituents.
06:23And we've got to give them something to take home and deliver.
06:26So that was a hard-fought consensus that we found.
06:30And as is general with the bill overall, I just asked them to modify it as little as possible so we can get it done and get it to the president's desk.
06:36Mr. Speaker, Jordan Conrads with the Gateway Pundit, a lot of people want to know, are we going to see consequences for these Democratic lawmakers who are inciting riots and violence in California and calling for insurrections across the nation?
06:49Yeah, it's a real concern.
06:51It's beneath any member of Congress.
06:53We should be supporting the rule of law and obviously upholding federal law.
06:57That's what's being flouted in California.
06:59That's a shame.
07:00With regard to what the consequences are, I'm not sure yet.
07:03There will be a lot of discussion about that.
07:04I mean, Congress has limited power to control our own.
07:08I mean, there are censures and those types of activities.
07:10But in the meantime, I would just encourage my colleagues to think very seriously, think very hard about that.
07:15The Democrats are making a terrible political calculation.
07:18They are on the side of lawbreakers.
07:20They are on the side of illegal aliens.
07:22They are on the side of, in some cases, MS-13 members and people who have abused their spouses.
07:29I mean, they're on the wrong side of this.
07:31The American people do not want violent criminals from other countries illegally in the U.S.
07:36And this is a very common-sense position that we've taken.
07:39And the Republican Party is standing for the deportation of these dangerous people.
07:42ICE is involved in that.
07:43It is their job to do so.
07:45And they are following the will of the country.
07:47The people don't want dangerous people here.
07:49This is the easiest question that they should be able to answer, but they don't.
07:53One more on the Big Beautiful Bill, Sarah.
07:55There's a provision within the Big Beautiful Bill regarding artificial intelligence,
07:59unregulated AI in all 50 states in the next 10 years.
08:02Are you aware of that?
08:03Why is that included in the Big Beautiful Bill and does the White House know about it?
08:06Yeah, of course.
08:07I know about it.
08:08The White House knows about it.
08:09I spoke with it as recently as last night with David Sachs, who's the AI czar at the White House.
08:15Here's the rationale behind it.
08:16I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about this.
08:18It would be a very dangerous thing, we feel, for all 50 states to have a patchwork of regulations on AI.
08:24There's a number of reasons for that.
08:26Imagine a state like California that hyper-regulates everything.
08:29They would stifle innovation.
08:31They would put so much tape of regulation on top of it, they would smother it.
08:35And that would be a serious problem from a national security standpoint.
08:38Because, remember, we're at a race with other countries, not the least of which is China.
08:42And if we hamper our own innovation and we make it too complicated to continue to develop,
08:48then China will overtake us, and that's a very dangerous situation.
08:51And, look, there's a classified level of briefing on this that I wish everybody could hear,
08:55but you need to understand we're doing the responsible thing.
08:58Now, I don't know at the end of the day.
09:00The Senate, of course, is looking at that provision to see about the scope and the duration of the cause, I would say.
09:08And we'll see how that comes out in their deliberations.
09:11But in the House, we felt like that was an important thing to do.
09:14I am a fierce guardian of states' rights and federalism and all those principles that made us the greatest nation in the history of the world.
09:19But there are a handful of issues that beg to be addressed on a federal level, and this is one of them.
09:24And Congress needs time to do this right so that we don't get ourselves behind China.
09:28The Pressure, did you have an opportunity to talk with the President about Elon Musk, his comments on this bill?
09:34And if you believe in a reconciliation?
09:36The President Biden has spoken to the President quite a bit about all this.
09:39And I'm not going to talk about it.
09:40The Pressure.
09:41The Pressure.
09:42The Pressure.
09:43The Pressure.
09:44The Pressure.
09:45The Pressure.
09:46The Pressure.
09:47Look I am very, we are, we've communicated, yeah.
09:48The, the the, look I think that, I think there's gonna be a reconciliation here.
09:51I think that's really important for the country.
09:54Two very important individuals, and the President is doing his job.
09:57He is laser focused on that.
09:58He's not going to get distracted by twitter wars and all the rest and
10:02that he shouldn't, and he can't.
10:03So, but I think that the temperatures be kind of turned down and I'm very hopeful that these two,
10:09Are you working on the reconciliation between Elon Musk and President Trump?
10:13I'm doing my dead-level best.
10:15I'm trying to be a peacemaker and all this.
10:17Last question.
10:18Two quick things.
10:19First of all, in there just a little while ago, the President suggested the deadline on the big, beautiful bill may slip beyond July 4th.
10:26No, no, no, no, no.
10:27We're going to get it done by Independence Day.
10:28It's going to be a great celebration.
10:29One other thing.
10:30There's going to be a massive military parade here in D.C. later this week.
10:34If the District of Columbia needs reimbursement for any road repairs or other fixes after this massive parade, is Congress ready to reimburse the city for that?
10:45We haven't even addressed it.
10:46We'll address it if that happens.
10:47But I'll tell you, the President just mentioned in the amendment side, I don't know if some of y'all were in there, but some of this is being privately funded.
10:54And it's going to be a good thing for the country of us showing the force on the Army's birthday, on Flag Day.
10:58And it'll be a great celebration for America.
11:00Are you trying to put your hands on the way?
11:03Are you trying to put your hands on the way?
