Speaker Johnson Speaks With Reporters Ahead Of Key House Committee Advancing Trump's Budget Bill

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) spoke with reporters on Sunday about the budget bill.

00:00We had some more thoughtful discussion back here tonight.

00:04I think what is about to happen here is that every Republican member will give a vote that allows us to proceed forward,

00:10and we count that as a big win tonight.

00:12There's a lot more work to do.

00:13We've always acknowledged that.

00:15Towards the end, there will be more details to iron out, and we have several more to take care of.

00:19But I'm looking forward to very thoughtful discussions, very productive discussions over the next few days,

00:24and I'm absolutely convinced we're going to get this in final form and pass it in accordance with our original deadline.

00:30And that was to do it before Memorial Day.

00:31So this will be a victory out of the committee tonight.

00:35Everybody will make a vote that allows us to proceed, and that was my big request tonight.
