00:13Generilio filed the mandamus petition on February 13, 2025, days after the Senate received the Articles of Impeachment on February 5. The Senate was the respondent in the petition.
00:25Senators failed to convene the impeachment court and set a timeline for the proceedings, raising questions on whether the impeachment trial would push through.
00:34Generilio has asked the SC to issue a court order telling the Senate to proceed with the trial, saying,
00:40The constitutional duty of the Senate to constitute itself into an impeachment court and proceed with the trial should comply therewith without further delay.
00:49Senate President Chief Escudero postponed the first step of the proceedings, the reading of the Articles of Impeachment, from June 2 to June 11.
