00:00Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04There's been heavy and thundery showers on the cards for many of us through Saturday
00:08and there will be further showers on the way over the next couple of days.
00:11The air of low pressure that brought the showers through Saturday quickly moves away eastwards
00:14as we go into the start of Sunday, but those isobars still remaining quite tightly packed
00:18indicating some strong winds over the next couple of days and further weather fronts
00:22and an air of low pressure waiting in the wings out in the Atlantic to bring further
00:26unsettled conditions as we head through much of this week.
00:30Back to the rest of Saturday though and the heavy thundery showers that we see across the
00:34south through this afternoon continue to push their way eastwards as we head through Saturday
00:38evening.
00:39Some showers still lingering across northeastern parts of the UK, but for many of us it will
00:43be turning drier as we go into the early hours of Sunday morning.
00:47The exception being across parts of Northern Ireland where we see a further swathe of showers
00:50arriving into the start of Sunday, perhaps one or two of these could be heavy in places.
00:56With those clear skies though, it could turn a little chilly in places, particularly across
00:59parts of Scotland.
01:00We could see temperatures dropping down into the low single figures, maybe the odd touch
01:03of grass frost in places, but further south, towns and cities will be holding up into the
01:07high single figures, maybe even into the low double figures in some spots.
01:12But that does mean a dry and bright start for many of us on Sunday morning, particularly
01:15across parts of England and Wales.
01:17Nice change compared to what we saw on Saturday morning.
01:20Any showers we see across the east will quickly push offshore and then those showers we see across
01:24parts of Northern Ireland, push their way eastwards into the northern half of the country.
01:28And in the afternoon sunshine across parts of England and Wales, further showers likely
01:32to bubble up through the afternoon.
01:34One or two of these could be heavy, again we could see the odd rumble of thunder in places,
01:38but generally lighter and scattered in nature compared to what we saw on Saturday.
01:43Still quite blustery across western areas as we go through Sunday afternoon, but temperatures
01:47will be up a touch, so feeling a little more pleasant in the sunshine.
01:50We could see highs in the south of 18, 19, perhaps 20 degrees, however further north those
01:54temperatures still a little below average for the time of year.
01:59Then as we go through Sunday evening, the showers that we do see gradually start to ease overnight
02:03again.
02:04Still one or two remaining, perhaps a little heavy in places through Sunday evening at first,
02:09particularly across the northern half of the country.
02:11But those showers gradually easing overnight, particularly across the south, where it will turn drier again
02:16and we'll see plenty of clear skies developing into the early hours of Monday morning.
02:20Blustery across the very far north of the country, but temperatures again dropping down into the
02:24single figures for many of us.
02:26Towns and cities holding up in the high single figures, perhaps locally low double figures,
02:30but it will be the rural spots that just drop that little bit lower.
02:33They're generally staying frost free to start the new week.
02:37So another dry, bright start for many of us on Monday morning.
02:40Still some showers, particularly across the north and northwest.
02:43These pushing their way eastwards as we go through the morning.
02:45And again, into the afternoon, one or two showers bubbling up, but again, these are notched down
02:49compared to what we saw over the weekend.
02:52Turning cloudier though, across parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, we see this
02:55area of rain pushing in from the west, perhaps turning heavy and persistent in places.
03:00But in the south, there will be some sunny spells developing through the afternoon,
03:03and it will feel a little warmer in that sunshine too, highs of 20, 21, perhaps even 22 degrees,
03:09but a little cooler further north, particularly if you're stuck underneath that cloud and rain.
03:14That north-south split that we see on Monday does continue through much of next week with
03:18further showers and longer spells of rain on the cards, but it could be turning a little
03:21warmer in the south too.
03:22But you can find out more about that by hitting subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never
03:26miss a weather update.
03:27Bye for now.
