Transcript
00:00Congratulations Tatum, it is always so great to see you.
00:04Congratulations with all of the work you do with Music Health Alliance.
00:08For viewers who may not be aware of it, give me a little bit of what Music Health Alliance
00:12does to help artists and writers and everyone in the music industry.
00:16So we're all things healthcare for everyone who's made a living
00:20in the music industry. Because most of our industry doesn't have access
00:24to healthcare readily available. Our big focus right now
00:28and it's nothing new but the need is so serious
00:32it's mental health.
00:34Well and for both of you, I love that you're here presenting
00:38Her With This Honor tonight. Can you guys both tell me about just from an artist's perspective
00:42the impact that Music Health Alliance has?
00:44Yeah, absolutely. I mean in this world of music
00:48and in this industry of music, most of us, almost all
00:52of us, we start out with nothing. And one of the things that almost none of us
00:56is health insurance. And all it takes is a very small
01:00mishap to ruin your dream. If you have to stop your dream
01:04to pay for healthcare, you're taken out of the game.
01:08And Music Health Alliance and what Tatum has done
01:12is given a lot of musicians opportunities to keep pursuing that dream
01:16amidst maybe the chaos that mental health
01:20or physical health
01:22can cause in their lives.
01:26I mean early on and she's helped us.
01:28I remember my wife
01:30on a freak accident broke her wrist
01:32and this was right when we
01:34around the time we got signed.
01:36When you get signed, you have no money.
01:38Somehow you have less money than you did before you could sign.
01:40And she stepped in and helped my wife
01:42get all of the treatment that she needed
01:44and saved us from like potentially bankruptcy.
01:48So we love and adore her.
01:50She's an adopted Osborne sister to us.
01:54And this world and our community is better
01:56because she's in it.
01:58How about you? Can you talk a little bit about that?
02:02Oh yeah, I totally agree with that.
02:04I feel like, especially in an era where
02:06when they started MHA
02:08now it's a lot more talked about
02:10that there needs to be help
02:12and there's a lot more resources now
02:14but when she first started her work
02:16no one talked about it
02:18and there used to be kind of this mentality
02:20where you had to suck it up,
02:22it's the gig, we're all doing it
02:24and I think it took some people saying
02:26we've got a problem
02:28and then once someone said that
02:29it was just like yeah
02:30everyone's raising their hands
02:31we need help
02:32and if it wasn't for her
02:34there's a lot of other people now
02:36that have gotten into the game to help
02:38but without her breaking the ice for that
02:40I strongly believe that we would be
02:42in the dinosaur age
02:44with like physical help and mental help
02:46and it's amazing to be in an era
02:48to watch that grow
02:50and you know I know she's such an advocate for that
02:52and it's why we're here.
02:54And they have been champions for this little idea
02:58since day one
03:00so it's really cool to be here now
03:02that y'all have success under your belt
03:04and we've got some stories to tell
03:06and we're still standing
03:08it's kind of crazy.
03:10Well and for those that want to help out
03:13whether it's donating,
03:14whether it's just taking part in it,
03:16what is the number one thing they could do
03:18if someone wants to get involved and help out?
03:20We need funding to keep doing what we're doing.
03:22To fuel it, fund it,
03:24go to MusicHealthAlliance.com and donate.
03:26That's what we need.
03:28Thank you both so much. I appreciate it.
