The unrest broke out in Bordley Green last August when hundreds gathered to oppose a rumoured
00:08
English Defence League protest that never happened. Violence quickly escalated. Roads
00:14
were blocked. A car was wrecked and a pub was targeted by those wrongly believing far-right
00:20
activists were inside. The events led to widespread fear with footage shared live online and broadcast
00:28
nationally and now some of those responsible have faced justice. Eamon Bari aged 20 from Oakcroft in
00:36
Solihull was jailed for one year and nine months after being convicted of violent disorder. He had
00:42
joined those trying to storm the clumsy Swan pub and attack the driver of a blue Skoda. Muhammad Ali
00:50
aged 20 from Yardley Green Road was sentenced to two years and six months for his part in the same
00:57
car attack. Police tracked him down after a public appeal. Adam Saeed also 20 from Washwood Heath Road
01:06
borrowed a blacked out Range Rover and was involved in several key moments of violence. He was seen
01:12
driving recklessly through crowds and dropping off others at the pub. He received two years and four
01:19
months. Finally, 19-year-old Harris Gaffar from 4-0 Road in Handsworth admitted violent disorder and was sentenced
01:28
to 20 months. He kicked a side door of the clumsy Swan prompting others to join in. Each sentencing follows warnings
01:37
from judges that people using unrest as cover for violence will face immediate custody.
