Lynnell reacts to Alexander Ovechkin's wife announcing he would return to Russia after the next NHL season.

00:03and release a statement saying that no decision had been made

00:06on Alex Ovechkin's future in the NHL

00:09after an email was sent out to season ticket holders.

00:13And in that email, they were advertising that, you know,

00:16next year is going to be the final year of Alex Ovechkin

00:18with the Washington Capitals.

00:20Now, if that is the case and actually the case,

00:24I don't think anybody should be surprised by it.

00:26You cracked and beat Wayne Gretzky's goal-scoring record.

00:30You've already, you know, hoisted Lord Stanley's, you know, trophy.

00:34You've done everything you've been asked to do here in D.C.

00:36You've done a lot for the community.

00:38I don't think anybody, any Capitals fan out there

00:41should be disappointed if Alex Ovechkin chooses

00:45not to sign another extension with this team.

00:48But the blunder that Monumental made

00:51is kind of what I want to tap into here.

00:53Like, just the whole handling of this situation to me seems weird.

00:57So the Caps came out Thursday and said,

01:01Fast forward to Friday afternoon in a sit-down.

01:15So I believe it's Natasha Ovechkin.

01:17Revealed that her husband plans to play the final year

01:20of his NHL contract with the Capitals next season

01:23and then return to Russia for good.
