A head office move for TGG, a major appointment at Deloitte in Northern
00:05
Ireland and results for a luxury yacht maker. That's all coming up in today's
00:09
Business Briefing.
00:16
My name is Lawrence Kilganan. My name is Ben Butler. Well, morning Ben. We're both fans of
00:21
White Lotus. Indeed, it's a great series on Sky Atlantic. And for people who haven't seen it,
00:27
it's all about sort of hyper rich people. So we feature lots of luxury yachts.
00:32
Yes. And on that note, we have the results for the luxury yacht manufacturer Sunseeker International.
00:39
So that last year was bought by investment firms Lionheart Capital and Orienta Capital Partners.
00:46
And it's held another year of great improvement in its latest results. So yeah, it was founded in 1969
00:54
by brothers Robert and John Braithwaite. And it's reported strong growth in both revenues
00:58
and operating profit. Excellent. And whereabouts are they based?
01:02
So they're based in Dorset, seven locations in Dorset. They manufacture and sell luxury motor yachts.
01:10
And it describes itself as the world's leading brand for luxury performance motor yachts.
01:15
Fair enough. Because it's a bit of a hotspot, isn't it, for that industry? Because you've got
01:19
Princess Yachts down there. Princess Yachts, Royal Williams Dockyard and around here, not just Dorset,
01:24
you've got Plymouth as well. So yeah, I suppose it's building on the UK's sort of rich maritime
01:30
history. Yes, indeed. And the company said also in turn that it's driven a significant reduction
01:36
to net losses and increased a bit of that. And looking ahead, the management have said it's
01:42
confident in the prospects for the company. So a positive set of results there. And you know,
01:47
the director is very upbeat for the future as well. Excellent. Well, we'll have to club together
01:51
then and maybe buy one. I'm not quite sure how much money you need, but it runs into the millionaires.
01:56
A fair bit of cash, I would imagine. Yeah, fair enough. Well, interesting news from the
02:01
North West now, where we've got a new head office for Digital Marketing Agency, TGG. Right.
02:08
They've taken an entire floor at Foundation, which is a development in Altrincham,
02:14
in Greater Manchester, which is being brought forward by Bruntwood, well-known property development.
02:20
They do a lot of work with Trafford Council. And Trafford Council, yes. So a great letting for TGG,
02:27
gives them space for growth. They're doing really well currently. In fact, one of the projects they
02:33
worked on was for a charity established by Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke. Right.
02:37
So, you know, it never hurts, never hurts to have big celebrity names attached to your brand. Indeed.
02:42
And yeah, so I think the letting is for more than 13,000 square foot of space. So a big letting.
02:49
And Altrincham has some good transport links, doesn't it? Fantastic. With the tram and trains and the roads.
02:54
Yeah, easily accessible to Manchester itself. And then there's the wider...
02:59
Towards Cheshire, et cetera, as well. As well. As we know from our trips to watch the ice hockey there.
03:04
Yeah, right near to the centre. Yeah, absolutely. And then you've got news of a sort of a really
03:12
interesting project in Swansea and there's been a contractor appointed. Yes. Can you guess that
03:17
contractor? Oh, I wouldn't know. One of Wales' oldest construction companies.
03:23
You put me on the spot here then, but no, I don't know. You tell me.
03:26
So it's Andrew Scott. Oh, yes, of course. Big name there in the industry. It's been selected to
03:31
help bring new life to three historic structures in Swansea. So Andrew Scott dates back more than 150
03:38
years and it's now planning to start work on site. It's a Swansea Council scheme and it's aiming to
03:43
transform the Vivian and Musgrave engine houses and also the VNS number one locomotive shed.
03:50
So the business over the coming few months will lead on the final stages of design for the project.
03:55
And it's on the site of the former Hafford Moor for copperworks. So there's quite a lot of copperworks
04:01
history in Swansea. It's a real kind of heritage site in the city as well.
04:06
Well, actually, I think I might be wrong, but Swansea was once the world's largest producer.
04:11
Yes, that would make sense really.
04:13
And Swansea itself is undergoing a huge revival.
04:16
Yes, indeed. In terms of historic buildings being repurposed like this story.
04:20
Yes, there's £1 billion regeneration underway in Swansea. So there's lots of other things going on
04:27
as well. So this is just part of a wider kind of project. And Andrew Scott was selected in a
04:33
competitive tender process. The plan now is to redevelop and restore buildings for new uses
04:39
and also to improve access to them. So both the listed buildings, the engine houses will in future
04:45
be suitable for a range of uses. So that could include restaurants and cafes and also exhibition
04:50
style space and shops. So, you know, really interesting project there. And like I said,
04:56
lots going on in Swansea. Well, I'm sure I speak for most when I say that, you know,
04:59
I love going to a restaurant which is housed in a sort of interesting old building or even an art
05:04
gallery or whatever it may be. Nice to have that kind of historic feel to it.
05:07
No, definitely. So yeah, one to look out for. And one to visit when we go to Swansea.
05:13
Well, as you know, Ben, major appointments are always popular with us. And we've got news today of
05:19
a new Belfast office managing partner at Deloitte in Northern Ireland. So a big, big job.
05:26
And that's going to be Marie Doyle is taking over from Jackie Henry, who's actually served in the role
05:32
for 12 years. A lot of experience. A big stint. Jackie is continuing with another role in the
05:38
business, but it'll be from Marie to lead the 1,300 people they have over there in Northern Ireland.
05:45
Big presence. Yeah, absolutely. And you may recall a couple of weeks ago, there was the story about
05:49
Deloitte investing in their sort of tech operations. Yeah, so I recall there was one in Cardiff.
05:53
Yeah, there was one in Cardiff, maybe Manchester, Edinburgh, but Belfast was also one.
05:56
A real kind of, the real presence there in the region. Yeah, and big sort of job creating,
06:01
sort of, they've seen in that area which they're going for. And Marie actually leads the tech and
06:08
transformation practice in Northern Ireland over there. So yes, it should be interesting to see
06:13
where they go to next. Indeed. Best of luck to her. Yes. Well, to read more about the stories we've
06:19
