00:00The expansion of a prominent law firm, the opening of a new hospitality venue in Nottingham,
00:04an experienced banker's new venture, coming up in today's business briefing.
00:14Morning Jen, what are you kicking us off with today?
00:17Good morning Adam, so there's a lot happening with Banks Group.
00:20So to start off, in its first set of annual results since the sale of its Renewable Energy Division,
00:26the family-owned group reported turnover of £27.1 million for the year to September 2024.
00:33This is up from £26.3 million in the previous 12 months.
00:38Banks Group also posted a combined operating profit after tax across all of its businesses of £11 million,
00:45compared to a £7.2 million loss after tax in 2023.
00:50The County Durham headquartered group is also looking ahead to celebrating its 50th anniversary of its foundation
00:56next year.
00:57The group's dedicated house-building company, then Banks Homes, is also building on a series of sites
01:03across the north-east of England and Yorkshire.
01:06Work on its first site, the Simeon Court, development in Durham City, is now substantively complete.
01:12And work on further Banks Homes projects in Yarm and North Yorkshire is currently underway,
01:16with several new sites set to be brought forward in the coming months.
01:20Definitely lots to celebrate for them.
01:21Definitely.
01:22Some big news for a law firm now, with Ward Hadaway having opened its first office outside the north of England.
01:29It's actually entered the West Midlands market, with the opening of an office in Birmingham at Chamberlain Square,
01:35at the end of Colmore Row, so a prominent location for them.
01:38It adds to the firm's existing bases in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.
01:43Now, the plans for the move, the move actually forms part of their growth plans, sorry, which they announced last year.
01:51The firm is actually aiming to double its turnover within the next decade.
01:56Ward Hadaway also recently confirmed that he's in talks to merge with Teesside Law Firm, the Endeavour Partnership.
02:02So, there's a busy time at Ward Hadaway and a lot of growth seeming to be happening.
02:07Great. Well, some news over in the North West then.
02:10A new specialist debt and capital advisory firm headquartered in Manchester has officially launched,
02:15which is offering financial guidance to businesses across the UK.
02:19So, Molino Capital Advisory is headquartered in Manchester and was founded by experienced banker and advisor Simon Copeland.
02:26The firm will support SME and mid-market businesses, which are owner-managed, family office-backed or owned by private investment companies.
02:34Clients will be targeting long-term sustainable growth and shall have revenues between £1 million and £100 million.
02:40Great. We're moving into a different sector now. We're going into hospitality.
02:45A non-gum entrepreneur has opened an Indian tea room and cocktail bar.
02:50This is the fourth venture for the Pisan family, who opened the Bombay Deli in 1995.
02:56Now, under the heraldship of Sun Rahul, the brand is expanding with a venue and it's called Pisan's Tea Room and Cocktail Bar.
03:05It's actually located on the first floor of the Bombay Deli and it's been designed with an Indian theme and has seating for 75 people.
03:14The venue will offer a range of elevated small plates, but also a brunch option, including Balmous Brunch, which I know is very popular at the moment.
03:23It opened its doors on the 31st of May, so definitely keep an eye out for that venue if you're in Nottingham at any point.
03:28Lovely. Will do. Well, if you want to hear more on that story and all of the other stories that we spoke on today,
