00:00The stage winner on the Finestra climb in Sestriere, and now the emotion hits home.
00:06Chris Harper, the Australian, joins the select group of riders who have ridden to Queen Stage
00:11victories at the Giro. A brilliant moment for Chris Harper.
00:20So the 108th Giro d'Italia comes to an end in the capital city of Italy. The usual procession
00:27out to the coast and then eight circuits of the city centre circuit in Rome. Jakob Fulsang
00:34announcing his immediate retirement, and Simon Yates wearing the Malia Rosa for the first time
00:39in his career on Stage 21. A solemn moment at the start of the race then, as Visma Lisa
00:45Baik and the peloton remembered Robert Hessing's wife Daisy, whose death was announced just the
00:50night of Simon Yates' victory last night. The race then on the neutralised rollout, rolling
00:58out to the Vatican City for a brief audience with the Pope, whose papacy began on May the
01:048th. Then making their way to the official start of the race and the flag drop for the usual
01:11ceremonials, the Yates twins on opposing teams posing for the photographs as Visma Lisa Baik
01:18celebrated a famous turnaround on Stage 20. The Giro d'Italia and all its constituent parts then
01:25coming to an end, but the race would eventually begin on the coastline, the first intermediate
01:29sprint, as Alessandro Tonnelli of Palti Visit Malta went off the front to claim a win.
01:35Three riders then dropping back as Visma Lisa Baik led the peloton into the circuit race
01:50of Rome. When the attack started then, they came thick and fast. It was Michael Hepburn
01:56of Jayco Aluna who kicked things off and he was joined by five other riders, including Alessandro
02:00Verri, who finished yesterday's Stage in the Mountains in second place. Driven on by Josef
02:05Ciani, those riders built up a 10 second advantage that became 20 seconds that almost became 30
02:11seconds at one point, as one by one the riders working at the front end of the peloton worked
02:16very hard to control a difficult and invigorated breakaway, who had this half-minute advantage.
02:23Through the Red Bull kilometre then, for the final time, Enzo Paleni, Josef Ciani and Alessandro
02:30Verri merging as the three hardest and best riders in the breakaway group. Paleni and Ciani going
02:36clear, just holding on to a slender advantage in the final 10 kilometres as everything was
02:41working against them. The sprinters' trains getting organised.
02:51Alfa Sinterkönig then took things up in the final couple of kilometres before Visma Lisa Baik
02:56and Eduardo Afini with Watt van Aert on his wheel.
03:00Perfect lead out potentially from Visma Lisa Baik, fully in control at the moment and everybody
03:05is lined up on their wheel, from the Malia Ciclamino to Max Cantor and all the other contenders,
03:09Michael Zeilard, they're all on the wheel of Visma Lisa Baik and Afini is doing a monster
03:14turn here, waiting to release Van Aert to do Van Aert things for Olaf Koi. Fighting for space
03:20on the barriers then, Caden Groves a little bit boxed in at the moment as they sweep right-handed
03:24now, 600 metres of the Giro d'Italia to go, still Afini on the front, Decathlon Agitoire
03:29chewing up their resources in the wind on the outside, Max Cantor poised on the wheel of
03:34Seilard but still Pedersen has the wheel of Olaf Koi and now Van Aert goes, Watt van Aert
03:40trying to keep the pace high to deter any attacks from the front, Van Aert pushing for the line,
03:45when is the sprint going to come, it's Moschetti who opens up first, Koi off the wheel of Van Aert,
03:50Koi hits the front, Moschetti, Cantor with a charge, here comes Caden Groves, Groves all the way to the line,
03:57holding off Koi, Koi gets there, Koi gets there, Visma Lisa Baik, the perfect finale,
04:03they win the race, they win the final stage, they win it all in Rome.
04:20Big crowds in warm sunshine, celebrating Olaf Koi's victory, the winner of the stage ahead of Caden Groves
04:27and a great sprint from Matteo Moschetti of Q36.5.
04:31Isak del Toro, second place on GC for him but closing out the white jersey in style ahead of Giulia Pellizzari.
04:43The blue jersey has been Lorenzo Fortunato's property for most of this Giro
04:50and he sealed the deal in Rome with a handsome advantage over Christian Scaroni in second place, his teammate.
04:55And the same could be said of Maz Pedersen's Malia Ciclamino.
04:59Four wins for him, six for Lidltrek and an emphatic win in the Malia Ciclamino, the points competition.
05:06So the Union Jack hoisted at the Giro d'Italia for the first time since Theo Gegenhart's victory in 2020
05:13as Simon Yates wins the Giro ahead of Isak del Toro and Richard Canapaz.
05:18For Visma Lisa Baik and for Great Britain, a second Grand Tour victory for Yates.
05:23The 없는 Toro and Richard Scaramino
05:38require more musical Shockors, the Yankee players which won the 2024,
