00:00Voting began on Sunday to elect a new president in Poland,
00:06in a runoff that could set the course for the nation's political future
00:09and its relations with the European Union.
00:12The contest pits Warsaw Mayor Rafał Czaskowski,
00:15a liberal pro-EU figure, against Karol Nawrowski,
00:19a conservative historian backed by the right-wing Law and Justice Party.
00:23Czaskowski has promised to promote constructive ties with European partners,
00:28while Nawrowski has positioned himself as a defender of traditional Polish values,
00:32sceptical of the EU.
00:34The runoff follows a tightly contested first round on May 18th,
00:38in which Czaskowski won just over 31%,
00:41and Nawrowski nearly 30%, eliminating 11 other candidates.
00:49At least seven people have died and dozens more have been injured
00:53after explosions caused two bridges to collapse in Russia.
00:57Both incidents happened in regions bordering Ukraine,
01:02but the cause of the blast has not been specified by officials.
01:06The first bridge in the Bryansk region collapsed on top of a passenger train travelling from Klimov to Moscow.
01:14At least seven people were killed and 71 were injured.
01:20Hours later, a second train was derailed when the bridge beneath it collapsed in the nearby Kursk region.
01:27The train caught fire and a driver suffered injuries to his legs, said officials.
01:33At least 31 people have been killed and another 175 wounded as they were on their way to receive food in Gaza,

02:17Israel and the United States say the new system is aimed at preventing Hamas from sifting off assistance,
02:23but UN agencies and major aid groups have refused to work with the new system,
02:28saying it violates humanitarian principles because it allows Israel to control who receives aid
02:33and forces people to relocate the distribution sites, risking further mass displacement.
02:44The European Union's top diplomat, Kaya Callas, said the world should be extremely worried about Russia and China's relationship.
