00:00:17many people are supposed to be at work how many people don't have a job smaller number than I
00:00:26thought are you guys ready thank you thank you are you guys ready for slightly stupid miles Kyle come on out
00:00:41gonna do a little interview then we'll hear some music how you guys do it good it's tough it's tough in
00:01:06here it's uh it's summertime that's kind of your time now I mean I feel like summertime is all of
00:01:11our time sure you know if you're here and I'm here isn't it our time it is you've got your step into
00:01:18the sun summer tour that is kicking off or you're already on it I'm sorry it starts the first week
00:01:24of June first week right after Cali vibes in Long Beach so you're gonna do Cali vibes uh June 7 8
00:01:32I think in Long Beach I think you're the eight yeah you have to goop you have to google it it's
00:01:38google a have to google it even we have to google it you know that's kind of what we live in right
00:01:43now so you are also uh you've done Coachella you've done Lollapalooza you've done all the festivals
00:01:50you're gonna do Bonnaroo again um is there a difference in any of those festivals
00:01:55if you make the difference there will be a difference
00:02:01I mean everyone everything kind of has their own flavor um I've really been a fan of what Cali
00:02:07vibes has done just how they've grown it it went from the one love festival into Cali vibes just
00:02:11they made it in kind of a better location which is dope for the artist and and for all the fans
00:02:16experience so that's kind of dope I like that um but all those other ones to me I they're they're
00:02:20very similar you know as a band yeah it it's not the same as doing your own show when you do your
00:02:25own show it's kind of your fan base you know the drill where you can kind of do whatever you want
00:02:29and those are kind of more scripted a little bit speaking of your own show uh closer to the sun
00:02:33is happening again for the 11th year
00:02:35is that surprising we just have a good time so that's how it started and that's how it's still going
00:02:43shouldn't 11 be 21 21 21 like 21 21 I mean if that's what that's what you want to call it you
00:02:52can call it whatever you want it's your festival who's going to be there I don't think we could
00:02:57really say that right now but it there is some dope uh it is pretty rad it is pretty rad
00:03:04the brothers and I'm hoping some of you were there who's going to be there closer any of you guys here
00:03:08it's honestly going to be amazing we have a great lineup we just confirmed a couple amazing acts
00:03:14uh this week so uh it's going to be
00:03:16now we can't but I promise it's going to be awesome we're excited and it's just amazing to be able to do
00:03:25it it's just a it's just a family well it sounds like you're going to be 11th
00:03:29a one he wants is what you just said one he wants yeah nice tears
00:03:36um let's talk about new music it's been a while since we've had a new album uh what's happening
00:03:45we having a new album yes yes we are that's the right answer it comes out in 2030 and it's called
00:03:54the middle-aged man it's actually short for ma'am it's going to be great honestly we have a lot of
00:04:02music coming and we're going to debut uh three songs today live that we that are for the record
00:04:08fantastic so we're excited you guys are going to be the first to hear we're even learning it
00:04:12ourselves just because recording is different than playing live and and so we're excited and a lot
00:04:16of good music and uh you know they've waited you know we've waited they've waited so long for music
00:04:21so we're just going to start dropping singles until the record comes out the uh the slow ride
00:04:27that you are doing for the sublime one i um i sort of like it better than the sublime song is that bad
00:04:33that's because you're crazy but we like crazy people okay good it's the people that think they're
00:04:38normal you really got to watch out right agreed i mean they're crazy but you guys so you
00:04:43normal is boring that's right watch out man but you put some harmonies into that song that they
00:04:50didn't have on the first one i really loved it thanks man that's miguel's fault miguel was i think
00:04:54was in charge of like saying you guys should do some harmonies so we did and then we're going to
00:04:59try to do it today also fantastic you're going to do that song you're going to do two others that we
00:05:04haven't heard yeah stepping in the sun and the song with uh charlie tuna um upside down
00:05:08we're excited and also just it's cool to just how everything's coming full circle um obviously when
00:05:15we were kids we were signed by sublime and and you know brad and miguel and kind of took us under
00:05:20their wing and and to be able to do this they came and asked if we want to be part of it and it was
00:05:24rad and it's the first time we've actually covered a sublime song we've kind of made a point you know
00:05:28out of respect for a friend of ours and the music and the music uh to not do that and it's rad to be
00:05:34able to be part of it and stick figures on there with us miguel haphold so it's killer
00:05:37also bradley knoll is that's that's his voice is insane he can make anything oh agreed and everyone
00:05:46has their 15 minutes he was always on so it's it's it's humbling you know what i mean i thought the
00:05:52exact thing when i was comparing the two songs i went back to the sublime one and i thought yeah he
00:05:56doesn't really need a duet he doesn't need harmony his voice is amazing he's like ali camel from ub40 his
00:06:03his voice is just insane and it's it's timeless too like if you put on sublime now it still sounds
00:06:09relevant today like it doesn't there's nothing new today that is like that doesn't involve right
00:06:14what they're doing and they you know it's really opened up such an avenue for so many bands you know
00:06:19besides you know what we've done is you know the inspiration we got from them as kids and it's just
00:06:24killer that for so many generations now are are listening and being part of it you told a story about when
00:06:31you met them that uh they played a show at a bar that you were 16 or 15 and your mom's friend made
00:06:40you a fake id that was super dope at the time great and kyle's dad was there too as we were all kind of
00:06:46partying together it was rad there was like 50 people inside this place called dream street and
00:06:51sublime was playing it was right before you know about a year and a half before they really explode my
00:06:55mom was not that cool she would not make me a fake id our parents are pretty cool like my dad was
00:07:01actually the one that introduced miles and and and me to sublime he's like i met these guys in
00:07:06mexico surfing and they gave me their cassette tape wow and i think troy you know his wife said the
00:07:13same thing i got the cassette tape and we're down in mexico so it's it's just like i don't know it's
00:07:19kind of crazy how time unfolds you know what i mean it's just kind of a backyard fires bonfires and
00:07:25just hanging and how you know i don't know how many years later we don't talk about it we don't
00:07:31talk about bruno we're getting younger we're getting younger are you getting younger well that's cool
00:07:37um you once mentioned that you have 10 20 30 songs to to pick from when you make a new album
00:07:44you have that now yeah yeah yeah big lots of good problems yeah no we're excited honestly it's been a
00:07:51long time and and in all honesty all of us started families and we've dedicated our lives on the road
00:07:56and to take those time to actually enjoy your families as well because we used to spend 200 days
00:08:02a year on the road um just partying with all you guys and so we took that time to actually enjoy some
00:08:07of those things that everyone gets to enjoy as well and and now we're ready to release music and you
00:08:11have three daughters you have twins right i got two boys but like miles was saying the music it comes
00:08:18from just life so i mean a lot of the music that we've been making is it comes from its life it's
00:08:25almost like life writes it so it's not like we go into the studio and just be like oh we have to
00:08:29write a song it's it's it's special to us because of the things you go through that's what creates a
00:08:36song i always say when you when you show up that's when good things happen you know and the fun that
00:08:42we have it's a blessing to be able to do it so we're just lucky and with the kids does that help
00:08:48with your mental health with your sometimes well sometimes sometimes you got to get away i understand
00:08:55that we've all been kids and if you have kids we all go through the same things but it i mean that's
00:09:00that's a joy ask our parents the same question i mean every generation is different but honestly
00:09:06it's a blessing if i'm having a bad day and even if my kids are driving me nuts i look at them and
00:09:10see the beauty and and what we created and and just watching them grow so that's kind of a thing you go
00:09:16through as even writers you know you're talking about those things as you grow as a as an adult
00:09:19yourself because we're still just giant man babies getting older you know what i mean and that's
00:09:24that's a long big word but it's kind of a like we're still kids even though we're getting older and i feel
00:09:30like you guys all feel the same thing and age is whatever number you want to put at it you know
00:09:35you may get grayer but it's still fun to do what we do like i love being on stage but this dude we've
00:09:40been together since diapers and and obviously we barely aged you're you're like 20 right if i'm not
00:09:50mistaken i wanted to ask you a question about talk about bruno i wanted to ask you a question about
00:09:55point loba high school when you played lunchtime in the quad uh you were 15 16 and you got in trouble
00:10:03that was our first gig first gig yeah esther schneider was his name was it the principal he made
00:10:09us write a letter of apology and we're just like why like everybody was stuck you're not allowed to
00:10:14cuss nuts we can't do shows without cussing we've tried wait you wrote a letter that you wouldn't cuss
00:10:20no we wrote an apology for cussing oh they made us do it to like the whole staff and we were just
00:10:26kind of like okay man you asked us to play it says slightly stupid he knew what he he knew what he
00:10:32signed up on you also it is really on he's the fucking adult right 16 and 15 it's like can you
00:10:39say a sentence without the f word they gave you microphones that's on them what are you gonna do
00:10:44i mean in all honesty since then i've never spelt stupid with a u so even my kids spell it with two
00:10:50o's and it just feels weird when i write it with a u if only when i'm angry do i write it like that
00:10:56because then it looks stupid right i mean sure sure let's talk about the songwriting process with you
00:11:02guys you i know went to nashville for a for a little bit and wrote with some different people
00:11:07yellow wolf that was just doing a song with a couple songs with yellow wolf which was amazing i mean
00:11:12we've been making music since we started and uh what was cool about stepping to the sun we flew
00:11:16out to sonic ranch in texas um it's kind of by el paso and and that song came together with the
00:11:22whole band that's a famous recording yeah it's insane but that everything came together through
00:11:28that um which is rad and every song is different we write stuff on our own we write stuff together so
00:11:33every song as a writer is going to be different so when you're writing songs do you um you're just
00:11:41jamming you're just playing and something comes up and you go hey i like that let's
00:11:45build on that is that how that song we're gonna play it right now for the first time ever live
00:11:51and we never even played it and we just played it at rehearsal and it's it's to us it means a lot
00:11:58just because it's it's kind of natural so it's it's nice do you have to sort of go back and listen
00:12:04to it because you've played so much music since that song was written
00:12:09if hey if we fuck it up you saw it first so in all honesty that's what we don't play to tracks we're
00:12:18a live band we don't there's no if we fuck up that's part of the show i've always said i don't
00:12:24really care you can't get back what we said mistakes are beautiful they're like little blemishes you know
00:12:28what i mean like right why it shouldn't be perfect you know no i i agree but my my question is do you
00:12:33sometimes have to go back and go let's remind ourselves what we did if you're playing something
00:12:38that you never played then yeah you need to go listen to it just because it's not in the muscle
00:12:42memory right but even like we only recorded that song we never played it physically as a band because
00:12:47everyone kind of played their part and it was rad like we did rehearsal all day yesterday and we got
00:12:51it down and it's almost where we need it to be it still sounds rad and there's a lot of elements
00:12:56like from acoustic roots just that's what we do outside of all the other things and there's so
00:13:01many elements in this song it's got beautiful lyrics and and we're happy so i think that's what
00:13:06starts as a musician and any sort of artist when you're happy at what you do like things come out
00:13:11of it so what you're saying is a full death metal set that's what you're saying you guys had no idea
00:13:17this is really gonna rock we went to see slightly stupid and they played pennywise songs all pennywise
00:13:22acoustics with distortion pedals the whole time speaking of uh friends i i saw charlie tuna back
00:13:29there what's happening well we always have the tuna we got rashaun lost too here from dave matthews band
00:13:34one of the greatest trumpet players ever so it's gonna be killer questions we've got fucking tie
00:13:40fighter who's uh our guitar tech but he used to be the bass player for alien ant farm he plays bass with
00:13:45us too on stage and some guitars so he's it's great like the jack of all trades so we got a lot of
00:13:50weapons yeah they don't they don't we don't have to play music we just hang out and just to hang
00:13:54out as a blessing you guys want to answer some questions nope nope i got this real nice one for
00:14:01you charlie so the new album tell us about is it going to come out in june i think kyle said 2030
00:14:08he did but he was lying no it's not going to drop in june we're going to start dropping singles
00:14:12um we kind of we missed the deadline that was uh operator errors on our part you know and like
00:14:18life happened and we just didn't get um everything done in time where we felt comfortable releasing it
00:14:24so we're going to release some singles and then kind of tighten shit up and and get it out when we
00:14:28can excellent and step into the sun is the one we're going to hear today that's from the new album
00:14:33that one uh upside down with charlie tuna and then we're going to play slow ride today
00:14:38fantastic that sounds great doesn't it you guys
00:14:42and some speed metal and some sweet metal right speed metal speed i guess we could play sweet metal
00:14:51too you're talented enough what you're saying it's so sweet bro that's like how many songs do you have
00:14:59to choose from for this album do you know or is it just like it's a endless i'll just say that a lot
00:15:07of them were really were really kind of just proud and just just blessed kind of feel blessed
00:15:14because like we were saying life writes the music and the things you go through kind of
00:15:20let let it out you know sometimes you can try to do something and you ain't gonna you ain't gonna get
00:15:26there you know you could try as hard as you can but the first time that you try you're gonna get
00:15:30lost right and sometimes you need to get lost first in order to know where you're going and
00:15:35these songs are they're they're special to us because all of our records have been like that
00:15:41but and we've always had like 30 to 40 songs to pick from each record because we just liked
00:15:48that's what we do but these songs is there ever going to be a box set of thousands of songs that
00:15:54you didn't choose for the album probably not there could be there could be but there should be but
00:16:01you know we we may get to that eventually what's cool is is we have our own place you know like i
00:16:05said we've been basically brothers from other mothers our whole lives we're going to continue
00:16:09to make music until we can't make it anymore and uh we're blessed to do what we do we love it you
00:16:14know what i mean that's the best thing like we appreciate all you every single day like but we
00:16:19love getting on stage that's the best feeling in the world like you kind of plug in you could be
00:16:23having the worst day and you step on you see smiling faces and there's like something just kind
00:16:28of hits you and it's it's awesome and we appreciate that and it lets us just like any band you're
00:16:35letting yourself out there for the world and when they receive it it's fucking amazing let's do that
00:16:40then let's do that shall we the first the first three songs are going to be brand new and give it up
00:16:46for this man right here who is fucking awesome by the way thank you for having us thank you appreciate

00:19:41And if I do, I hope this night will never end

00:22:02We gon' take you to A.G.
00:22:18Thank you guys for being here with us today
00:22:20Yeah, that was the first time we played, that shit was fun
00:22:25It wasn't that bad
00:22:27We're gonna do this song right here with Charlie Tuna
00:22:32It's called Upside Down
00:22:33And it's talking about all the craziness in the fucking world we live in right now
00:22:38And we're gonna try to fucking find the medium right here
00:22:40And pull it all together
00:22:40What's up ladies and gentlemen
00:22:44I get to sit down and perform, I don't do this all the time
00:22:48This feel good
00:22:49K-Rock, ladies and gentlemen, bless y'all
00:22:53Thank y'all for being here
00:22:54Upside down
00:23:11Stuck in the middle
00:23:14Where the world needs some
00:23:17More love inside it
00:23:19Cause we're all still alive
00:23:22It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:23:26It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:23:31As it is above, so it is below
00:23:33We are closer to the sun than we are to snow
00:23:36And we have just begun to kill that limit flow
00:23:39In the game, we give it go as we live and grow
00:23:42And as we search and secure, the cup of patience is full
00:23:45Hard to do the door, give all the shakers for sure
00:23:47Opinions oppose the gravitational pull
00:23:50That gratification and fuel can be vicious and few
00:23:53For unifications to cure
00:23:55Patient to cure it hard with blood, straight from the core
00:23:58Cards on the table, the punch, straight from the door
00:24:00Intentions are pure, keep it the balance
00:24:02Before the world is turning
00:24:04Upside down
00:24:05Stuck in the middle
00:24:08Where the world needs some
00:24:11More love inside it
00:24:14Cause we're all still alive
00:24:16It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:24:20It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:24:26Damn, and like Sam from an hourglass
00:24:28Wicked by control class, try to make their power last
00:24:31Modified foods created to solve a past
00:24:34It's like people in the devout trash
00:24:36But you should never neglect health
00:24:37Then learn to respect self first
00:24:39Then help the next one closer
00:24:41So tell the network forms
00:24:42The set goes on, now stretch both arms
00:24:44Take care of them is to detect loved ones
00:24:47Whether it's yours or mine or his or hers
00:24:49If your vision is blurred and division occurs
00:24:52Then we must fight to make it right look on the right side
00:24:55Plus, a tree is just as tall
00:24:56When it's right side up
00:24:58I'll rip it
00:24:58Upside down
00:25:00Stuck in the middle
00:25:03Where the world needs some
00:25:06More love inside it
00:25:08Cause we're all still alive
00:25:11It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:25:15It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:25:20Yeah, yeah
00:25:28Make some noise, y'all
00:25:30Yeah, yeah
00:25:32Make some noise, y'all
00:25:34If we don't get disaster
00:25:42We're lucky and fire
00:25:44No reason just for living in this whole little fire
00:25:47Why should I try?
00:25:48Why should I still climb?
00:25:50It's only getting us deeper man
00:25:51The mountains are wild
00:25:52That's when I fly
00:25:53When I can't see
00:25:55Dreaming all my visions come in reality
00:25:57That's when I fly
00:25:59We're your kin
00:26:00We people that we're needing
00:26:02When we set us up free
00:26:03Upside down
00:26:05Stuck in the middle
00:26:08Where the world needs some
00:26:11More love inside it
00:26:14Cause we're all still alive
00:26:16It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:26:20It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:26:25Upside down
00:26:27Stuck in the middle
00:26:30Where the world needs some
00:26:33More love inside it
00:26:35Cause we're all still alive
00:26:38It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:26:42It's time to stand, I'll walk away
00:26:47Tuna
00:27:03Tuna
00:27:15Tuna-rific
00:27:17Make some noise for our brother Charles
00:27:21Damn, that was super dope
00:27:25It's kind of dope to play these songs
00:27:37A little stripped down like that too
00:27:38So that you guys get to see it like that
00:27:40We're ready
00:27:52Alright, here we go
00:27:54One, two, three
00:27:56She takes her time when it's time to get ready
00:28:10Always has her way
00:28:13And always leaves me leaping
00:28:15On the phone
00:28:16She told my mama once just to take it slow
00:28:21And I said, okay
00:28:23He's always leave me sleeping all alone
00:28:27But I'm not breaking up inside
00:28:31I'm just too proud to moan
00:28:34Baby, please come home
00:28:38Well, I feel a little lucky so I try to play it cool
00:28:42I think your love's inside
00:28:44It's like a bone that fell out for you in your heart
00:28:48Try to be the man like you've got the master plan
00:28:53I'm not up all the time
00:28:55It's a dreamy time
00:28:57So we can turn it up
00:28:59But I've been doing some thinking
00:29:03And I just don't know
00:29:06Baby, it's just the way you move so slow
00:29:10Maybe because you move so slow
00:29:15Maybe because you move so slow
00:29:21I ask myself and blame myself
00:29:36I think them for a fool
00:29:38I swear that I would do most anything
00:29:42How y'all feeling out here?
00:29:44Walk a mile just to see you smile
00:29:47Walk a mile just to rock or roll
00:29:49And I'll begin with my other brain
00:29:54I've been doing some thinking
00:29:56And I just don't know
00:29:58Maybe it's just the way you move so slow
00:30:04Maybe because you move so slow
00:30:09Maybe because you move so slow
00:30:14Sitting on the verge of tears
00:30:18It's not been in my twenty-two years
00:30:21I take my brain and you took my pride
00:30:24Now you're gonna take me for a slow ride
00:30:26But I'm still waiting
00:30:29Waiting on the phone
00:30:31Like a word that burned like fire in my mouth
00:30:35Come on down
00:30:37Come on down
00:30:38Make you rock for a while
00:30:39Make my face not sipping
00:30:40And you're rocking wild
00:30:42Everybody in this place
00:30:44You can turn it out
00:30:45Come on
00:30:47Well, I've been doing some drinking
00:30:49And I just don't know
00:30:52Baby, it's just the way you move so slow
00:30:57Baby, cause you move so slow
00:31:02Baby, cause you move so slow
00:31:07Baby, cause you move so slow
00:31:12Baby, cause you move so slow
00:31:14Baby, cause you move so slow
00:31:18Here I go
00:31:48That's a hard one to cover right there
00:31:52Singing Bradley Noel
00:31:53Respect out to the man up in heaven

00:32:12Respect to the man
00:32:15He helped us when we were just kids
00:32:21And we will never forget that
00:32:23Thank God we're still kids
00:32:26Miles is still a kid
00:32:45As I've spent the old lifetime searching for
00:33:02The one that you need and the one that you love
00:33:09And all we need are days and I'll last forever
00:33:14And all I need is you and the rising sun
00:33:20I don't care what you say
00:33:24In the heat of it all
00:33:25I don't care what you say
00:33:27Cause I need you to know that your love
00:33:29Is what's worth fighting for
00:33:32You got me on the run
00:33:36I don't know what to do
00:33:38Each day I'm balling
00:33:40Balling up for you
00:33:41I know it must be right
00:33:42No way it could be wrong
00:33:44I don't know if I'm searching for
00:33:46What's working right at all
00:33:47But all we have to do is say
00:33:50We won't ever walk through
00:33:53Look, look, look, look, look, look, look
00:33:58We're going to my paradise
00:34:15The place never ends as nice
00:34:18I said it's fun to come back home, yeah
00:34:22It's fun to get a little stone
00:34:24Just fun, girl, you mean
00:34:27But no friends, no company
00:34:30I said we give what we can't do
00:34:33But if you forget all we might
00:34:35I don't care what you say
00:34:37In the heat of it all
00:34:38I don't care what you say
00:34:40Cause I need you to know that your love
00:34:42Is what's worth fighting for
00:34:45You got me on the run
00:34:49I don't know what to do
00:34:51Each day I'm balling
00:34:52Balling up for you
00:34:54I know it must be right
00:34:55No way it could be wrong
00:34:57No, no searching for what's working right at all
00:35:00But all we have to do is say
00:35:03We won't ever walk away from our love
00:35:07From our love, love, love, love, love, love
00:35:11You don't know what you're missing
00:35:26Why don't you listen to your heart just scream
00:35:29It always need to please you
00:35:32I'll be there to need you
00:35:34Always here
00:35:35So give me that good feeling
00:35:38It's early in the evening
00:35:40Why we're here
00:35:41There ain't no better time
00:35:44When you got to realize
00:35:45We're exactly where we're supposed to be
00:35:48You got me on the run
00:35:49I don't know what to do
00:35:50So we can run away
00:35:50To another place
00:35:51It's a getaway
00:35:53We can run away
00:35:54We can run away
00:35:56To a better place
00:35:57It's a getaway
00:35:59We can run away
00:36:00We can run away
00:36:02To another place
00:36:03So far away
00:36:05There ain't no better time
00:36:08When you got to realize
00:36:10We're exactly where we're supposed to be
00:36:12You got me on the run
00:36:14I don't know what to do
00:36:16Each day I'm balling
00:36:18Balling out for you
00:36:19I know what's be right
00:36:20No way it could be wrong
00:36:22No need for searching for what's working right at all
00:36:25But all we have to do is say
00:36:28We won't ever walk away from our love
00:36:32From our love, love, love, love, love
00:36:36But all we have to do is say
00:36:40We won't ever walk away from our love
00:36:44From our love, love, love, love, love
00:36:49When you go, when you go
00:36:53When you go down, it's my room, it's my room
00:36:56When you go down, it's my room, it's my room
00:36:59And we're happy we're supposed to be
00:37:02When you go, when you go
00:37:05Let's lay it out, it's my room, it's my room
00:37:08When you go, when you go
