00:00Good morning. Well, today marks the start of meteorological summer, but does the weather agree?
00:06Well, we have an area of low pressure situated across the north and some frontal systems bringing
00:12showery outbreaks of rain. We then have this ridge of higher pressure building in on Monday
00:17before another area of low pressure moves in later and affects many places Monday night
00:23and into Tuesday, bringing heavy spells of rain, but also we've got that real squeeze
00:27in those isobars indicating some strong and gusty winds. But back to this morning, and it's a much
00:34brighter and fresher start out there for many of us. Best of the sunshine today will be across the
00:39southeast of England, but across Northern Ireland and Scotland, a wet start here, heavy spells of rain
00:44could be thundery. That moves its way eastwards, then it turns drier across parts of southern Scotland
00:51and northern England into the afternoon. Elsewhere, across much of Wales, the Midlands, the South
00:57West, sunny spells, a few showers, most frequent showers across Northern Ireland and across
01:04Western Scotland, merging to give longer spells of rain. It's going to be breezy for all of us,
01:10but the strongest winds really confined towards the north west of Scotland. So feeling rather cool here,
01:17but in the sunshine, highs of up to 20, possibly 22 degrees, but generally a drier and cooler air mass,
01:23so not as humid as Saturday. So as we go through Sunday evening and overnight, we have that ridge of
01:31higher pressure developing. So a lot of those showers will tend to ease through the night. There'll
01:36be a few still around across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland and Northern England, but for most of us,
01:41it turns a lot drier by Monday morning with clear spells and lighter winds. So turning a little bit chilly
01:48across Northern areas, but otherwise lows of 8 to 11 degrees. So through Monday then, a pleasant start
01:56to the day, plenty of sunshine dry for most of us, but showers will bubble up across Northern parts of
02:02England and into East Anglia. Then the sunshine turns increasingly hazy across Northern Ireland and
02:09Scotland later with the breeze picking up in association with this area of low pressure out towards the
02:16north and west. Otherwise, in the sunshine, we'll see highs of up to 20, possibly 22 degrees, but feeling
02:23cooler, especially out towards the west where we have the strengthening breeze. So as we go through
02:30Tuesday then, that's where we'll see some spells of rain. So stay tuned to the forecast on that.
02:36Otherwise, I'll see you very soon. Bye bye.
