00:00I am a little leery about where things are going on that front.

00:04I'm not saying Drake May won't work out in year two.

00:06I'm not saying the Patriots won't be good in year two.

00:08I was just hoping for better reports and a better start.

00:12I mean, I shouldn't say that I'm surprised, though, necessarily by it.

00:16You know, it's just another head coach.

00:18It's another offensive coordinator.

00:19It's a bunch of new teammates for Drake May.

00:21So it's year two.

00:22It is also May.

00:24I think overall the talent on the defense is better than the offense.

00:28So these are just a bunch of either reasons or excuses you could make

00:31for why the offense doesn't look great right off the rip.

00:36And I just think it's something to obviously keep an eye on

00:38because you're going to have OTAs, you're going to have minicamp,

00:40you're going to have training camp, you're going to have the preseason.

00:42So it just sort of, you know, if this continues,

00:46and we're talking about it weeks from now, you can't be like,

00:48oh, it came out of nowhere, right?

00:49You're just sort of like monitoring what's going on right now.

00:52It could be better.

00:53But that's also maybe for a coaching standpoint.

00:55You're like, all right, it started here.

00:58That's the baseline for this?

01:00And now every day we go forward, we've got to at least show signs of progress.

01:04Refresh my memory on your stance on McDaniels.

01:08I was after they didn't get Ben Johnson as their head coach.

01:12I thought they could do a lot worse.

01:31My dream scenario is Van Pelt actually stayed on but was a quarterback coach.

01:36And, you know, we'll play you another clip coming up from Tommy Curran later on.

01:39But he was on Afternoons yesterday, and he highlighted that Van Pelt really did all this work with May and his mechanics.

01:45And he can't call an offense.

01:46He doesn't have an imaginative offense.

01:48But someone being hands-on with May, that would have been ideal.

01:52And just to keep some continuity.

01:54I get why Van Pelt wouldn't want to do it.

01:55I don't blame Van Pelt for leaving.

01:57But that would have been ideal.

01:59I just wonder if that's there with McDaniels.

02:01It's in his background for sure.

02:03He coached up Mac Jones his rookie year.

02:05It's the best Mac ever looked.

02:07So that's a checkmark for McDaniels.
