00:00Giants have signed Jameis Winston, Russell Wilson.

00:03He says if they like Shudderer Sanders, they'll still take him at three.

00:09But the Giants signed Russ Wilson yesterday.

00:11They have a competent-ish starter at quarterback and backup in Jameis Winston.

00:17The Patriots signed Stefon Diggs yesterday.

00:21So they have their number one receiver, if not an NFL number one.

00:24I'm skeptical about that.

00:26But they get certainly their best receiver.

00:29How do those moves in concert change the Patriots' approach at pick four?

00:33So I'm with Schefter on this one.

00:34I think the Giants definitely could still take a quarterback.

00:37We might be in the same situation.

00:39Because they just grabbed Russell Wilson now, like two weeks into free agency.

00:44They grabbed Jameis Winston before.

00:46Both guys at this stage of their career are kind of fringe starters, kind of holdover

00:51starters until the rookie is ready.

00:54And so especially if they don't think Shudderer Sanders is a week one starter, why not get

00:58him?

00:59But the Giants, who's your starter in 2026?

01:01You don't know.

01:02Yeah, probably not on the roster as of today.

01:04I think you could still get one.

01:07But also I guess it allows them to say, hey, maybe we just love Travis Hunter or Abdul

01:11Carter.

01:12We love them so much.

01:13We can go out and play a game.

01:14And we can kind of patchwork it.

01:15Now the thing with them is, they're not like a playoff team or even a fringe playoff team

01:20the way that it is.

01:21So they really need to think more long term.

01:24I think the Patriots, and this is a question that a lot of people were asking, is just

01:27real quick.

01:28The one thing it allows the Giants to do is say, you know what?

01:31We like Shudderer Sanders.

01:32We don't love him.

01:33Maybe we won't be great this year.

01:35We'll draft high next year.

01:36Next year's the year we draft our quarterback like it does allow them to do that.

01:39But if they love Shudderer Sanders, I still think they could take him to three.

01:42They can also circle back and take Jalen Milrow or one of those project quarterbacks in the

01:46later rounds, too.

01:47They could.

01:48I mean, if they grade those guys similarly, I just think last year what the Falcons did

01:51and it kind of blew up on him because Kirk Cousins just ended up being bad.

01:55But think about Kirk Cousins at this time last year was looked upon much higher than

02:00either Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston, and he got like ten times the money that those

02:05guys got, and they still drafted Penix in the top ten.

02:08So I always think quarterbacks get way overdrafted and teams go crazy for quarterbacks come draft

02:13time.

02:14So I think that they could.

02:15As for Steph Diggs on the Patriots, I don't think that stops them from drafting Travis

02:20Hunter because of the unique prospect that he is.

02:22It takes some of the pressure off forcing him to offense, though.

02:27You know, so to me, I would take Hunter either way if he's there.

02:30And you know, if it's him and Carter, I want Carter.

02:33If they're both gone, I want Gente.

02:35But I think Hunter is the most realistic at four.

02:37It takes the pressure off.

02:39He needs to be a receiver and it allows them to say, let's bring him in and see what he

02:43could do.

02:45And let's split time and then we'll have him go where he fits, not where we need him.

02:49But I think that's important.

02:52I want him to try to play both ways, right?

02:54I don't want him to be just one side.

02:56And yeah, I guess you're right.

02:57If they don't have Steph Diggs, maybe they feel like that needs to be more of the focus.

03:01I always thought what would make him the best receiver, at least early in his career, possible

03:05would be having a guy better than him on the field.

03:07Like, you can't just be like, hey, you're the best guy we have.

03:10Also you're trying to play defense, whereas if he's out there and he's sort of the number

03:14two receiver, he's not playing every single snap, so maybe not like a prototypical two,

03:18but you have digs and then you can kind of work those other guys in.

03:22I think that's great.

03:23Now, I know some theorize that the Patriots saw the Russell Wilson signing and were like,

03:30Travis Hunter's not going to be there.

03:32I don't think that.

03:33I think the chances are the same, honestly.

03:36I think they're the same.

03:38They might still take Sanders.

03:40They may not.

03:41You know, Tennessee, I think everybody already has like Pencilton for Cam Ward, but the Browns

03:46should go quarterback, but they may not.

03:48They may go Carter to kind of pair him up with Miles Garrett.

03:50Maybe they surprise people and go with Travis Hunter themselves.

03:53The other way to look at it, Browns missed out on Russell Wilson, which makes them more

03:56likely to take a quarterback.

03:57So yeah, I mean, I could see it going that way as well.

04:00Bottom line, I mean, the Giants may not draft a quarterback, but I don't think this prevents

04:04them from taking Shadur Sanders, and you're hoping Travis Hunter drops to the pads if

04:08they get him.

04:09I think the pressure's off to force him at wide receiver, and I think that's a relevant

04:14move about Steph Diggs.
