00:00Nico, at the start of the Giro, you knew you were not going to win a stage because you started
00:06as a domestic for Primoz Roglic, Jai Inley, Danny Martinez and now you're a stage winner.
00:12Yes, this is probably the most emotional one after losing Jai early on and Primoz was
00:24for us, we invest a lot, everybody in the whole team, not only the riders, all the staff,
00:32we had this one big goal to win the Giro d'Italia with Primoz Roglic, we were on altitude two months,
00:38I was now three months gone from home, didn't see my wife, my children and in the end if you lose a
00:47leader like Primoz and you also lose a dream and yeah, it feels like always hard work is for nothing,
00:56but yeah, luckily we turned around and could motivate ourselves, also with Julio doing a
01:03fantastic job in this Giro and now winning here today for me on Father's Day, by the way,
01:10all the school to papa, it's pretty special. You were the only one from your team in a group of 37
01:16riders, so you did it by yourself, why did you choose 19 kilometers to go, to go alone?
01:22I mean, when Primoz left the Giro, I went through the Garibaldi and between Mortirolo and Col de Finestre,
01:34there was only this stage which could be possibly for me, so I had the plan and also got the freedom
01:41to go for today. Yeah, I went in with one break and then it was just like I was just following my
01:49instincts and in the final the group wasn't really collaborating and yeah, I thought I'd just give
01:57it a shot like I saw I had a small gap and then just just went and all on one card. Excellent job,
02:05thank you. Thank you very much. Isaac, 10 days in the Malia Rosa, are you getting used to it?
02:12Yeah, a little bit, not like every day, but a little bit. Today, when the breakaway went,
02:19your team was setting the pace of the peloton. Were you trying to chase or just controlling?
02:25Now, control a little bit the situation and manage to the first descent.
02:29Have you raised today thinking of the coming two stages, trying to save energy even if it was hot
02:34today? Yeah, like everybody else, we tried just to arrive in the finish line at the end because the
02:40breakaway was quite big and then there was no sense to push in the back and yeah, we arrived with all the
02:47other teams behind. What do you know about the coming two stages? What do you hope for? The next two?
02:55What? Yeah, the next two stages. I hope to be in the front and have my best legs ever. We will see how
03:02how become these two stages for for sure I want to be there. Thank you.
03:08That's this morning the riders from the other teams were saying that whether it would be
03:12a breakaway or a sprint would depend on you and your team. What was your choice?
03:17I think you saw it, right? You showed you wanted the breakaway. Did you want the breakaway
03:23for yourself for this jersey or for Matthias Vasek to win a stage?
03:27Yeah, it was a mix. You know, we can't control and do as we want in the race. You know, we also have to
03:33fight to to get into the break and in the end we we went a quite good break. I just wanted the points
03:40on the intermediate then I'm safe with the with the ciclamino and then yeah after that it was all about
03:48you know this attacking in the final and what was going on there. We knew it would be hard for me to
03:53yeah make it for a sprint in a group like this so
03:58and then Dante here ended up in the break and and he fought for the win and it didn't go our way today
04:03but that's also cycling. You are about 12-13 points to mathematically winning the Malia Ciclamino.
04:11You feel that you're getting there? I think a lot have to happen if I don't win it now so
04:17I feel quite confident with it. Thank you.
