In a dramatic incident from Sirauli, Bareilly, a 25-year-old man named Gurudev was rescued by police on Wednesday, May 28, after he climbed onto the roof of a two-storey house, threatening to take his own life.
Gurudev, who got married just over a month ago, had reportedly been facing relentless mockery and humiliation from villagers and even relatives. Many questioned how he could have married someone with a “model-like figure” and a “Miss Universe-like attitude,” repeatedly labelling him “mad.”
What began as light teasing escalated into deeply hurtful remarks, pushing Gurudev into mental distress. "They kept saying things like, ‘How did you manage to marry such a girl?’ It became character assassination," a local villager told Dainik Bhaskar.
Police were alerted around 4 PM on May 28. Officers from Sirauli Police Station, led by SHO Ram Ratan Singh, along with SI Ramveer Singh and constables Shubham Kumar and Manoj Kumar, rushed to the scene. A safety setup including tarpaulins, nets, and mattresses was arranged, and both police and locals pleaded with Gurudev to come down.
After nearly five hours of effort, the police successfully brought Gurudev down safely. The Bareilly Police later shared details of the operation on social media, praising the coordinated effort between the police and the public. #Bareilly #Sirauli #MentalHealth #MarriageMockery #PoliceRescue #UttarPradesh #ViralNews #Gurudev #BareillyPolice #BreakingNews
