Some professional sports franchises are luckier than others.
Transcript
00:00Some professional sports teams are lucky, some aren't so lucky, but today I'm feeling positive,
00:04so I'm going to focus on the lucky ones. So with that being said, here are the seven
00:07luckiest franchises in professional sports. Right off the bat, I'm going to go with the
00:10San Antonio Spurs. They have great timing when it comes to the NBA Draft Lottery. First,
00:14they got Tim Duncan, then they built a dynasty, then they were bad for a little bit, then guess
00:18what? They win the NBA Draft Lottery when Wemby's coming out, a once-in-a-generational talent,
00:22and now they have the number two pick in a very talented draft. The San Antonio Spurs are in a
00:26great spot. Next up, I'm going with the New England Patriots. Literally the greatest player
00:30of all time fell to them in the sixth round. I'm not going to give their front office credit for
00:34that. If they thought he was going to be the best player of all time, they would have taken him in
00:37the first round. They got lucky here. Plus, they also got lucky with the tuck rule. If the tuck rule
00:41was different, they would not have won the Super Bowl. That should have been a fumble. The Pats are
00:45very lucky. Third on the list, I'm going with the Lakers. Every star player in the NBA wants to play
00:49for the Lakers. They don't have to do any convincing when it comes to free agency. I can be the GM. The
00:53Lakers are very lucky. Fourth on the list, I'm going with the Yankees for basically the same
00:56reason. Up until the Mets started spending way more than anyone else, the Yankees could literally
01:00pick a free agent and be like, yeah, we want them, and then get them. The GM doesn't really have to
01:04do anything. They get to play in New York. It's partly because of the history, so they did kind
01:07of earn it. But yes, the Yankees are very lucky. Fifth on the list, I'm going with the Oklahoma City
01:11Thunder. First of all, they're very lucky that the Portland Trailblazers took Greg Oden over Kevin
01:15Durant. They've had great luck in the draft ever since. Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and possibly the
01:20biggest thing that brought them the most luck is that Kawhi Leonard really wanted to put
01:23with Paul George, so the Clippers overpaid for him, sending OKC a bunch of draft picks,
01:27and SGA, who just won MVP. The Thunder are very lucky. Sixth on the list, I'm going with the Green
01:32Bay Packers. They had back-to-back Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers,
01:35and on top of that, they were very good at the right time back in the day. So despite being a very
01:39small market team, they have a national fan base. I don't know if they would have survived in Green Bay
01:43if that didn't happen. The Packers are very lucky. And last but not least, I'm going with the
01:47Cleveland Cavaliers. They won the NBA Draft Lottery when LeBron was coming out. That's extremely lucky.
01:51And then when he left to go to Miami, guess what? They get the number one pick again,
01:54and it's Kyrie Irving, which made LeBron want to come back, and then they won a title.
01:58The Cavs are very lucky.
