The best Major League Baseball players to never be selected for an All-Star Game.
Transcript
00:00All right, with the MLB All-Star rosters being announced, it had me thinking about the best
00:03players to never make an All-Star game. So with that being said, here are the top 10 MLB players
00:08to never make the All-Star game. At number 10, I'm going with Bruce Chen. He played 17 seasons
00:12of Major League Baseball, a very reliable pitcher. I'm surprised he didn't sneak into at least one
00:16All-Star game. At number 9, I'm going with Jose Valentin. He had a great mustache and honestly
00:20had a great couple of years. However, he was a shortstop and to make the All-Star game as a
00:24shortstop in the late 90s and early 2000s, you had to be a star. Jose Valentin, you just missed it.
00:29At number 8, I'm going with Mike Timlin. He's one of the best relievers on the Red Sox when
00:32they were really good. He played 18 years in the Major Leagues. I'm surprised he didn't get
00:36at least one All-Star game. At number 7, I'm going with Lyle Overbay. He batted 301 and led the league
00:41in doubles in 2004. I'm not saying that should automatically make you an All-Star, but he was a
00:46pretty good player. At number 6, I'm going with Aaron Seale. In 1998, he had 19 wins with a 3.6 ERA.
00:51I'm not saying he got snubbed. However, I'm just pointing out that he was a very good player to not
00:56make the All-Star game. At number 5, I'm going with Frank Catalonato. This guy was an elite
01:00contact hitter. Batted over 300 four times, including one season of batting 330. He also
01:05batted over 290 three more times. So that's basically seven seasons of batting 300 or more.
01:10Frank Catalonato, you were great. Very underrated. At number 4, I'm going with Bill Miller. This guy
01:14won the batting title in 2003 and didn't make the All-Star game. That doesn't make sense.
01:18At number 3, I'm going with Tony Phillips. Not only was he a very solid hitter, but he's also just
01:22incredible at getting on base. He led the league in walks twice. Led the league in runs once. Was
01:2716th in MVP voting once. So I'm surprised he never made an All-Star game. At number 2, I'm going with
01:32Tim Salmon. This guy was actually a beast. He won Rookie of the Year. He was 7th in MVP voting twice.
01:37He won the Silver Slugger Award. He was great on the Angels. An absolute classic player. And he never
01:42made an All-Star game. That is wrong. And at number 1, I'm going with Adam LaRoche. In 2012,
01:47he finished 6th in MVP voting. He won the Silver Slugger and the Gold Glove Award, meaning he was the best
01:52hitter at his position and the best fielder at his position, and he didn't make the All-Star game.
01:56That does not make any sense at all.
