01:00As ever, over recent days, an almighty struggle to get in the day's breakaway
01:04A real opportunity for riders to get in a break that would perhaps go all the way to the line
01:10An early intermediate sprint went the way of the Maglio Ciclamino
01:13Maz Pedersen up the road and taking a further maximum 12 points at the first sprint of the day
01:19To extend his lead still further in that competition
01:22And then briefly, Isaac Del Toro attacking from the front of the bunch
01:26To get up the road and join a big group up the road
01:30Wilco Kelderman's setting the pace with Maz Pedersen on his wheel
01:34As eventually a 38-rider move, including the King of the Mountains, Lorenzo Fortunato
01:39Established a lead on the road of around about three minutes
01:42With Palti visiting Malta, having missed the move and riding on the front of the peloton
01:46A good opportunity for Lorenzo Fortunato to try and split the group at the front of the race
01:52And go off in search of further King of the Mountains points
01:55As Maz Pedersen and a number of other riders dropped away at the back
01:58And groups of the better climbers went clear at the front of the race
02:01Fortunato still surfing the wheels and hoping that the attackers would come back together
02:06Wilco Kelderman, one of four Visma Lisa bike riders driving on the breakaway
02:10But Lorenzo Fortunato went over the Category 2 climb in first place to pick up another 18 points
02:16Palti visit Malta still riding on the front and controlling the breakaway
02:20That are holding them at around about three minutes and 30 seconds
02:23Through the second intermediate sprint
02:25And then Visma Lisa bike on the lower slopes of the Paso del Mortirolo
02:30On the front of the bunch
02:31With Alessandro Torneli setting the pace initially for Palti visit Malta
02:35Andrea Vendrami and Stefano Aldani dropped from the front of the race
02:40And with Carapaz sitting on the wheels of the groups of favourites
02:42Suddenly Antonio Tiberi was in trouble
02:45The Bahrain victorious man dropping out of contention and losing a lot of time on the stage
02:50The group then thinning out all the while
02:52But at the front of the race Lorenzo Fortunato
02:55Stamping on the pedals and looking to gain maximum points at the top of the Mortirolo
03:00Where big crowds had gathered to see the race come up
03:02Still a three and a half minute lead as Romain Bardet opened up an attack
03:07At the top of the Mortirolo climb
03:09He was followed by Alfonso Olialo of Bahrain Victorious
03:14As further behind it was EF Education setting the pace
03:17And Richard Carapaz attacked a couple of kilometres from the top of the Mortirolo
03:22He's Octel Toro just following the wheel of the other favourites including Simon Yates
03:26At the front of the race though
03:28Olalio went over in first place from the original breakaway
03:32And Carapaz opening up a lead over the other GC contenders and on to the descent
03:37Carapaz then picking up some riders from the original breakaway
03:43And trying to hold off the rest of the chase
03:45While at the front of the race groups came together
03:47And Isaac del Toro went off in search of the Carapaz group
03:52He would pick up support though
03:54And eventually they would try and close the gap to the marauding Carapaz
03:57The Mallorosa group coming in and closing a 10 or 12 second gap
04:02Damien Housen then started to ride to shut down the breakaway
04:07So that Tom Pidcock could ride to a stage win
04:09As eventually a group of some half a dozen riders tried to hold off
04:15On the higher slopes of the Lemote climb
04:18The inevitable chase from the Mallorosa group
04:20Romain Bardet attacked towards the top of the climb
04:22And Bardet went over the top of the final Cat 3 climb of the day in first place
04:27But Danny Martinez from the original breakaway set up his teammate Giulio Pellizzari
04:31Perhaps for an attack
04:32Del Toro and the rest of the favourites following the move
04:35Bardet still with a little bit of an advantage
04:38Heading towards the top of the climb
04:40But Isaac del Toro taking Richard Carapaz with him
04:43Attacked over the top of the final climb of the day
04:46And went off in search of the front of the race and a stage win
04:50Bardet then on his own from the original breakaway
04:53And the other GC favourites trying to chase down Carapaz and Isaac del Toro
04:59On the final descent on the run into Bormio
05:01Those two riders coming in hot and chasing down Romain Bardet
05:05Bardet then caught and sitting on the wheels
05:07As they held off the chase of the Yates group in second place
05:12And del Toro is about to make history here at the Giro
05:17Once again for Mexico
05:19A last lunge from Richard Carapaz and Romain Bardet
05:22To neutralise the attack from Isaac del Toro
05:25No chance
05:26Del Toro is going to take the final left-hand turn
05:30And then he is going to ride to victory
05:32The Maglia Rosa
05:32He is back
05:34And he is intent on winning this Giro d'Italia
05:37He takes a victory from the front
05:39In pink
05:40Del Toro is bowing in front of his audience here
05:44In control Bardet crosses the line in second place
05:47Carapaz picks up a time bonus in third
05:50That will see him jump up to second place on the GC
05:54Young Mexican reversing the disappointments of yesterday
06:01With his family on hand to greet him at the finish line in Bormio
06:05The champagne flowing then for Isaac del Toro
06:07A stage winner at the Giro at last
06:10Ahead of Romain Bardet and Richard Carapaz
06:12Simon Yates coming in 15 seconds down
06:14In the group of favourites in fourth
06:16And a much better day for the Maglia Rosa
06:18In the general classification
06:19He is now 41 seconds ahead of Richard Carapaz
06:23Who moves up to second
06:24Simon Yates dropping down to third
06:25Another good day for Maz Pedersen
06:28Adding to his enormous advantage
06:30In the Maglia Ciclamino
06:32And in the King of the Mountains competition
06:36It is as good as done
06:38The nearest rival for Lorenzo Fortunato
06:40Is his team mate
06:41Cristian Scaroni
06:42And the white jersey
06:46Of course once more
06:47Worn by Isaac del Toro
