AccuWeather's Melissa Constanzer and Ariella Scalese monitor the eastern Pacific where a tropical rainstorm will likely develop into the first storm, Alvin, of the Pacific hurricane season.
Transcript
00:00All right, big story number three here. We are tracking the tropics. It's going to be more the
00:04Pacific here that we are monitoring. There's that tropical rainstorm we're keeping an eye on,
00:08likely to become Alvin as we go into the rest of this week. Yeah, that's the first name on the list
00:13for 2025. And if you've been thinking, where are all these storms? Sometimes we get formation ahead
00:18of the start of the season. It's been a historically quiet start to the tropical season here. This is
00:24looking back since 1950. Remember, the eastern Pacific, they should have started their season
00:29already at this point in time. So we're behind that. And also, this includes the Indian Ocean,
00:34the western Pacific, so the entire northern hemisphere. And thank you to Jeff Cornish for
00:37crunching these numbers. Yeah, I don't know how he does it. Looking at the history.
