11:06So I decided to finally put my pasties on the runway and to be honest

11:13I am trying to make something new and weird and really make people stop and think
11:18This time I want to elevate a skirt to my modern aesthetic add
11:23Draw strings so that someone can ruch or unruch their skirt and have little bows at the end. All right y'all times up

18:46I got attacked this guy on the street had a machete and he cut my boyfriend's hand and he cut my leg
18:54I couldn't walk for six months being not able to walk
18:58The only thing I could do is sew slowly and sketch a lot and get a lot of ideas
19:03And so the leg harnesses came about in that sense where I was thinking how can I put that into fashion?

28:13Seeing my look walking down the runway, this is exactly what I want
28:18I kept the original shape the power from the shoulder
28:23But I added drama into the look the sparkles from the pedals
28:29The edginess to really show to the judges who I am as a person and a designer

28:45Love the dress. I love the way the dress is looking right now in the runway
28:48I've already redeemed myself from that horrible look reading it the right way with the right materials is a great feeling
28:54I would like to sign my petition to burn the old dress and replace it with this one
29:00Since I've been on project one with six years ago, my DNA is still the same before she has this little tomboyish look

29:09Everything came out exactly how I wanted to come out. I'm happy with what I've done and I've done my job
29:20I'm proud of what I've accomplished draping is not an easy process
29:25Requires experience and passion. I love the way the silk is just kind of like dancing around her body

29:45It has been 10 years since I've sent a lock down I've been on the runway for over a year

29:58Let me tell you I could not be more proud. I have absolutely
30:01created a new fresh modern look
30:04Inspired by the spirit of my dress that I was eliminated from so I think I understood this assignment. I

30:17Overcame a hurdle of fitting something like this, especially after it's been such a long time. Maybe it wasn't the most perfectly
30:25Constructed garments, but with her makeup and hair and everything. I think she just looks beautiful

30:38Feel like I'm having an out-of-body experience to be honest with you
30:43Seeing the look come down the runway I feel super proud I
30:48Started with something grab ill-fitting and now I'm presenting an original idea made really well
30:54But it also has details that compares to no one else's

31:04Really feel like the look going down the runway this time shows a much more
31:08mature cuts of mama Lou
31:10It shows a designer that has a point of view. That's very clear
31:17And I really want to just slow mo it so I can just see it glide and get all the the goodies
31:25It just goes really quickly and I'm like, oh my god. I hope that they saw me because I see myself

31:35Look is definitely who a different than everybody else, but that's a good thing
31:39The model change was stressful, but I don't think anybody's gonna know because my model looks fantastic
31:45So beautiful and so powerful
31:53This was a definite rollercoaster to get this garment completed, but I feel like
31:59Successfully it captured the essence of the challenge
32:02I'm just thankful that I'm able to create here and use the hurt and pain as inspiration to
32:10Showcase to the world the type of designer that I am and how you get over hard times. I
32:18Feel like I've created a look that for me is inspired by the
32:24Spirit of my first design. It's not like a direct interpretation
32:29So, I don't know if the judges will see it, but I'm happy with my work
32:42My model has her thing she has her bouffant. She has the red lip the black liner
32:48I'm not gonna lie
32:49I think I strayed from the challenge
32:51But my whole purpose of being here was to pay homage to my mother and I think my mom would have loved it
33:01I'm definitely proud hard to say if I redeemed myself or not because again, I don't think that I had anything to redeem myself from
33:08But I think I did a good solid evolution of the look that I had before
33:13And I think I really showed how I've grown
33:19I am living as Mario walks down the runway. It is
33:23Feminine, it's got movement and I figured out how to incorporate that active wear
33:30The pink the butterflies the shoulders the draping. It's me

34:47Okay, tell us about your look. What's trying to make something that was inspired by a girl
34:52That's doing what you have to do and elevated version of the hoodie dress
34:55try to put myself in a happy place because the picture that I was inspired by
35:00Triggered something for me that I didn't expect for it to do
35:03So it was very difficult for me to continue on and make it
35:06So it's literally been two months and probably like a day since my sister passed away. Well, you did a beautiful job and
35:13You can consider this a tribute to her. Thank you. This is what today's challenge is all about
35:19Turning a negative into a positive. This is a happy cheerful joyful. Look it's a true
35:26Elevation of whatever this initial vision was that you had the first look was just not at all you and this was nice to see
35:33something so assured from you all of the details are such signatures of yours and
35:38I can see that over the time since we've seen you that you've really refined those it feels very modern and
35:45Really just joyful and the color is so fantastic. The ruffles are so playful and it's really fun

38:16It wasn't immediately clear what the connection was. Okay creative indeed
38:21But fashion is subjective and for me this
38:26Didn't translate. I think this lattice work on the shoulders is very creative
38:32Is it cost to me it is but there's something very creative of taking this concept of the stilt and
38:40Narrowing it down to this
38:42But I also would have loved to see a pairing back of something to really let that one idea or whatever

39:11Tell us about your look the challenge was a me down for Nancy Odell
39:16I changed it in many ways. I still kept the asymmetrical
39:21It's inspired by my mother Barbara Saunders and I call this kind of Barbara by the sea
39:27I do remember the Nancy Odell challenge
39:31there is a fine line when you're working with costumes and
39:36Translating that into real life. It just needed to be a little more subdued
39:42It feels too in your face. It just needed editing. This feels a bit formal and stiff and
39:50Dare I say a little dated, right?

40:04Tell us about your look it was a challenge about outerwear
40:08So I feel like I wanted to create something that was mid seasonal so hence the arms are out, but she has
40:16Sleeves on and I kept this idea in my mind of flipping it around flipping it around
40:20So that's what I did all of the textiles except this one because it's you know, it's double-faced. They're all the wrong side
40:26it's very chic and I really like the back was very modern and

42:45But it was just executed so poorly
42:47I think it was the right idea that needed more time and it just needed an expert hand sewing is a core
