00:00Among you are the lieutenants, majors, colonels, and generals who will lead the Army for the next 10, 20, 30, even 40 years.
00:08So as Commander-in-Chief, let me offer a few words of advice as you can get your Army careers.
00:15And I thought I'd do this and I could make this into a civilian order, so to a military audience, it's pretty much the same.
00:23And I did this recently at Ohio State.
00:28And I really liked it. I gave them a little advice as to what I see for, what you want to do, some tips.
00:36And first of all, and you've already done it. You're different from civilians that are making the decision right now.
00:42You're already making the decision. I love you.
00:45You have to do what you love. You have to do what you love.
00:49If you don't love it, you'll never be successful at it.
00:51And you've done this. And really, many of you in the audience, many of you that have graduated,
00:57you've come from military backgrounds, or you love the military, it's what you want to do, it's what you want to talk about.
01:05One thing I see about people that love the military is all they want to talk about.
01:10I'll be out to dinner.
01:13Generals, if they love their job, usually the only ones are the ones that they want to talk about at all the time.
01:19But if they talk, that's what they want to talk about, I really, really, very rarely see somebody who's successful that doesn't love what he or she does.
01:29You have to love what you do.
01:31In your case, the military is what you chose, and I'll tell you what, you cannot go.
01:36You're going to see it too, you're going to run up more and more with that.
01:39You know, I work all the time, and all I do is work, whether it's politically or before that.
01:46I was a very good businessman in the case, but it was good because I loved it.
01:53I loved it.
01:54I learned from my father a little bit, and my father was a happy guy, and all he did was work.
02:01He worked on Saturdays, Sundays, he worked all the time, and he was a happy guy.
02:08He just loved life, and I learned that.
02:12I've seen other people that never work, and they're not happy.
02:18You've got to love it, otherwise you won't be successful in the Army.
02:22There are a lot of different paths you can take, so follow your instincts and make sure that you take the path that you love,
02:28that you're doing something that you love within your military.
02:31You will be happier, and the Army will be far stronger for it.
