President Trump Brags About Egg Prices, Jobs Numbers In Commencement Address At University Of Alabama

President Trump delivered the commencement address on Thursday at the University of Alabama, where bragged about lower egg prices.

00:00We've created 350,000 new jobs and brought core inflation down to its lowest level in many, many years.

00:10Energy is down. Look at your cost of energy. Way down.

00:14Groceries are down. Even eggs are down.

00:17Remember I came in? Remember I was here a week and they started screaming at me,

00:21the fake news, egg prices have doubled.

00:24I said, they just got here. I've been here for four days.

00:27I said, tell me about egg prices. They've doubled.

00:32Well, they didn't double under me. I just got there and we did a great job.

00:36We brought down the cost of eggs. In fact, they said you won't have eggs for Easter.

00:39They wanted to give. We have a big Easter egg hunt at the White House.

00:42You saw it just take place. And they thought we should order thousands of plastic eggs.

00:47Plastic. I said, no, we'll do it. And we straighten out the egg situation very quickly.

00:52Our great secretary of agriculture did a fantastic job.

00:56And we had so many eggs, we didn't know what the hell to do with them.

01:01And prices of eggs have gone down 87 percent since I took office.

01:06That's something, right?

01:11But the price of food has gone down and mortgage rates are down.

01:14And gasoline prices just hit $1.88 a gallon in three states.

01:21Can you believe it? It was at $3.50.

01:24It was at $4.00. We're drilling. Oh, we're drilling.

01:27You know, drill, baby, drill, right? We drill, baby, drill. We do that.

01:31We got it down. We have it going good.

01:33And, you know, when energy drops that much, you don't have much inflation.

01:37It's hard to have it.
