Trump In Alabama: 'If You Want To Change The World, You Have To Have The Courage To Be An Outsider'

President Trump delivered the commencement address on Thursday at the University of Alabama, where he spoke about changing the world.

00:00Number six, if you want to change the world, you have to have the courage to be an outsider.

00:05In other words, you have to take certain risks and do things a little bit differently.

00:10Otherwise, if that weren't the case, everybody would be successful.

00:13It doesn't work that way.

00:15Progress never comes from those satisfied with the failures of a broken system.

00:20It comes from those who want to fix the broken system.

00:23And you'll make the bigger money, you'll make them more success by acting that way.

00:29The other way may be more secure, but if you want to go to the top, you're just never going

00:34to do it unless you break the system.

00:37Change is never easy, and the closer you get to success, the more ferociously those with

00:42a vested interest in the past will resist you.

00:45They want to resist.

00:47So I just say, trust me on that, because I know you really do.

00:51You have to break the system a little bit and follow your own instincts.

00:57But if your vision is right, nothing will hold you down.

01:00Nothing.

01:01You have to have the right vision.

01:03If you look at some of these Internet people, I know so many of them, Elon is so terrific.

01:08But I know now all of them, they all hated me in my first term, and now they're kissing

01:13my ass.

01:14Do you know?

01:19It's amazing.

01:27It's nicer this way.

01:28Now, in the first, you know, they didn't know what happened because I won an election that,

01:34you know, there was never a businessman that won a presidential election.

01:38Out of 100 percent, 8 percent were generals, and 92 percent were politicians.

01:46Not even admirals, not even just generals.

01:49There were eight generals, General Washington, General Grant, Generals, General Eisenhower.

01:55But 8 percent were generals, and 92 percent were politicians.

02:01And when I ran, everyone said, well, he can't win.

02:03He's a businessman.

02:04That's not going to work.

02:05And, you know, but you have a natural instinct for things.

02:08I guess I had a natural instinct.

02:09I said to somebody, was I a better businessman or a politician?

02:14And they said, well, there are a lot of guys that made a lot of money, but there's only

02:18one guy that became president that was a businessman, so I guess you're a better politician.

02:23But I don't think of myself as a politician.

02:25I think of myself as a businessman, and I'm proud of that.

02:29And I've applied business instinct, and that's why I think you're seeing us doing so

02:32well.
