00:00Hey, it's Dr. Trish Lee. Today's question is, are men hardwired to watch porn?

00:06Well, the answer is yes, some men are, but no, all men are not. So let me explain it to you.

00:15Science shows that if a young man in his teenage years or even earlier for some men

00:21start to watch pornography, their brains become hardwired to need to watch it,

00:28watch more of it, watch more graphic and involved pornography across their lifetime.

00:35So the answer for people who start watching porn when they're young is yes, they're hardwired if

00:41they've continued to do so. And the longer that that's been happening, the more ingrained and

00:47hardwired the brain is to need porn. Well, for what? Originally, it starts that they need the

00:54porn for pleasure, but it shifts that they need it to avoid pain. And that is all based on science.

01:02And so what happens is the reward center in the brain is changed because of that hardwiring over

01:07time with frequency of consumption over longer and longer periods of time. And then especially as

01:14there are shifts that make them want more and want more graphic or escalation of the types,

01:22then it's becoming even hardwired and even more. Okay. So not all men's brains are hardwired for porn,

01:30but some are, and they are hardwired. Okay. Remember, control your brain or it'll control you.
