00:00Don't miss Imran Khan's outstanding unbeaten knock of 51 runs from 62 balls in just 89 minutes,
00:07featuring 1-4 and two powerful sixes against New Zealand. This memorable innings came during
00:12the third ODI at Auckland on March 11, 1989. Thanks to his calm and classy performance,
00:19Pakistan successfully chased down the 249-run target with seven wickets in hand and nine
00:25balls to spare. A truly brilliant effort by the skipper. Let's relive this special moment.
00:55He didn't really open the shoulders at all, but my word found the edge at Eden Park quite easily,
01:01and two men out there can't quite see the second one. Full toss that time from Kugeline,
01:08which is often a useful delivery. Yeah, well of course that jams him up and
01:15that doesn't allow him to free his arms as Imran was able to do the ball prior to that,
01:19but he's got two hands to it.
01:26Teddy, Teddy!
01:27Might match it quickly.
01:34Well you can set the urgency out there can't you with Ian Smith urging his uh...
01:49That's the end of the over from Chris Kugeline, so 35 are now completed, 1.46 for two.
02:05Good solid looking off drive from Imran, this is one run.
02:10Phil Horn on the field, and he's a very good fieldsman indeed Phil Horn.
02:19He's got a bit of bad on this, they're trying to hit it square, good fielding out there by the
02:40skipper at John Wright, but his overthrows.
02:45In fact they picked up two, and that's the end of Danny Morrison's over, 180 for three.
02:51And here are the worms, so uh, the grey one, the New Zealand one, you see where things started going
02:56astray a little with all those dots, their wickets.
02:59The women can face in Danny Morrison.
03:02Go!
03:05Going away by the Pakistan captain, and it's gone to the fence for four.
03:10He's abandoned by Pakistan, there are nearly eight runs and over now for their asking rate.
03:18Swung away by Imran, and six runs to end the game, and Pakistan have won their first ever one day match
03:27against New Zealand and New Zealand, and deservedly so here at Eden Park this afternoon.
03:33New Zealand started the match in a commanding fashion, with John Wright and Andrew Jones laying
03:38a strong foundation through a 94-run opening stand. Andrew Jones then continued the momentum with
03:44Martin Crowe, adding another 84 runs for the second wicket. At that point, with 16 awards still
03:50remaining and only two wickets down, New Zealand appeared to be the heading towards a massive total,
03:56but the game quickly turned on its head. Pakistan's pain duo Abdul Khadir and Tawsi Fahmat stepped up
04:02and completely dismantled the middle and lower order. The real turning point came when the Abdul
04:08Khadir dismissed Andrew Jones and Martin Crowe in the same award, sparking a dramatic collapse.
04:13From a position of strength, New Zealand lost their final eight wickets for just 71 runs. In reply,
04:18Pakistan paced their chase with confidence, never letting the pressure get to them. It took 48.3
04:25hours to reach the target, but the results never looked in doubt. Rumiz Raja anchored the innings
04:30with a superb century. His 101 runs came off 114 balls, featuring nine boundaries and a six.
04:36This innings built on his fine form from Christchurch and Wellington, where he had scored half centuries.
04:42The finishing touch came courtesy of Captain Imran Khan and Saleem Malik. Imran Khan brought up his 50
04:48innings in 62 balls and fittingly ended the match with a towering six of Martin Sneddon.
04:53Saleem Malik, in aggressive mode, blazed to 56 runs of just 33 deliveries, hitting 9-4s along the way.
05:00Martin Sneddon, who balled economically in his initial spell just five runs in four
05:04overs with a wicket, ended up with a 1-for-57 from 9.3 overs as the game slipped from New Zealand grabs.
05:11This was ODI No. 559 and it was Ramit Raja rightly awarded the man of the match for his outstanding
05:19century. Despite this emphatic win, New Zealand secured the series with a 2-1 victory.
