00:00For the final week of the actual May itself, we're going to talk about what causes the problems about flowers in the pants, which is a genital waltz.
00:17Again, HPV can cause a lot of havocs and these are usually a low-grade HPV or low-risk HPV.
00:25HPV 6 and also 11 are the type of HPV that can result in genital waltz, and genital waltz can happen in men and women.
00:36In men, typically it happens in the shaft of the penis, around the scrotum, or sometimes anal genital waltz, apparently it happens in the anus itself.
00:45But for women, it is more notoriously difficult to detect because it can occur in the vulva, in the vagina,
00:53or if it gets all the way into the cervix, then it is at risk of getting problems of cervical cancer.
01:02So, genital waltz itself is actually interesting because only a quarter of men and women, after exposure to genital waltz, will develop the waltz itself.
01:12So, the immune system itself is obviously important, and believe it or not, the immune system in women is a lot stronger than women.
01:19For men, for example, actually the transmission rate from women to men is higher than men to women.
01:26The actual immunity, for example, natural infection or natural contact with the virus resulting in natural immunity,
01:34actually is higher in women by 26% as compared to men.
01:38And finally, the actual disease burden.
01:41The virus itself stays in the body for men much longer throughout their lives, and women, they can clear with their own natural immunity.
01:50So, clearly, men are not protected naturally.
01:55For nurture, what way to find out how they are protected is vaccination.
02:00So, we must remember HPV vaccine is not just a vaccine for women or girls.
02:05This is a vaccine for everybody, so when everybody is protected, just like COVID vaccine,
02:12then only everybody gets vaccinated and everybody can be protected.
02:18For the month of June, we're going to talk about different ways of contraception.
02:23We're going to start with oral contraceptive pills.
02:25How do we get about doing it?
02:27What is the impact of oral contraceptive pills?
02:29If you're quite keen to find out about contraception, stay tuned for next week's Putting Dr. G on the Spot.
