00:00Let's dive into the odds to win the National League East and the odds by the way have shifted over the past week because of the surge of the Phillies and the Mets falling back ever so slightly. So Philadelphia is currently the favorite followed by New York at plus 160. The Braves have Ronald Acuna Jr. back strider too. So you know let's not sleep on them. Washington is playing better but I don't think we expect them to win the division and we know the kind of season the Marlins are going through right now.
00:27So hopefully for them next year is a little bit better than this year. So George you know we went into the season guaranteeing three teams I think for the playoffs in the East. I know the Braves fans are still upset. It's like they feel like the offense should be better but getting Acuna back I think is going to help. It makes their lineup longer. Their pitching is still good. I'm not going to quit the Braves just yet. I just don't think they're as good as the Phillies.
00:52So I do think it's Philly New York and then the Braves are going to have to fight with some other team I think in the National League West to make the playoffs.
01:01Agree with everything you said there. All right. The Mets are the interesting team right. They're doing the opposite of what I thought correct. All right. I thought they would hit but pitching would be a struggle here. They're actually pitching and not hitting. All right. The Soto. Boy you want to look at a powder keg.
01:16The Soto situation in New York is getting up there. All right. I mean there were reports that he doesn't fly with a team. That ended up being erroneous. He's unhappy. He's not running out base hits. Right. He's taking his time there. And it's getting ugly here.
01:31Yeah. There was something posted on X the other day about when he was moved to the third in the length and he refused to swing. He just happened to take three strikes. You see that plenty of times throughout the season.
01:40But the Mets are they're a powder keg right now. It's amazing. We're a team that's got off to a really good start here. But to go with you. I think Philadelphia wins the division. I think the Mets and Braves will battle for wildcard spots.
01:53All right. So let's take a look at the National League Central. I think this is a season. I know George you like the Reds going in. I don't know. This division does not look good to me.
02:02Cubs are winning. Cardinals are winning in spite of winning. Like I think the Cardinals are just kind of like whoa what are we doing.
02:07And this is supposed to be a rebuild year. I saw there was an article. I think it was the Athletic that said that even if the Cardinals are in it, George, they're not going to do anything.
02:15They're not going to buy. What does that tell you? Milwaukee, this seems to be the first time Milwaukee's shown some warts in a while.
02:22Although they are getting that great pitching from their young rookie. Reds seem like a 500 team. And then the Pirates are going nowhere.
02:30So, you know, I'd love to throw a dart here on another team. I can't do it because I don't think the Cardinals intentions are real.
02:36And for the first time, I'm seeing the Brewers, George, as going the other way. Last year at this time, we were like talking about how surprising they were and how great they were.
02:45We're not doing that this year. Yeah, I was never in on the Brewers this year. I just had too many losses here.
02:51But that being said, they're actually playing okay. They could get Woodruff back shortly. You know, maybe there's a chance there.
02:58Yellich, before he hit those two home runs, I want to say on Thursday, he looked awful. So we'll see how that goes as well.
03:03You mentioned I do have a ticket on the Reds. I just like the price. That's sort of like my Blue Jays of the National League.
03:09I keep going in on them year in, year of, and I'm always wrong. So sooner or later, I'll be right on that.
03:13But the Cubs look like a runaway winner here. And I do want to list with St. Louis.
03:17I wonder if they could have a winning record at the deadline and still trade out.
03:20Right? They wanted to move Gray, but he turned it down. They wanted to move Fed 8. No, they couldn't get an offer for him.
03:25They wanted to move Arenado. He turned it down. Right? So I do want if they could still do that.
03:29And I think you're right. They won't make any additions anyway. So they probably should move these.
03:33If that's what you're going to do, then you probably should move these guys.
03:37National League West is really, to me, the stacked division here because I really like all three teams here at the top.
03:44L.A., San Diego, Arizona. Giants, I am expecting some pullback here eventually.
03:49And the Rockies are the worst team in the history of baseball.
03:51So four teams not realistic here, George. I'm going to say L.A., San Diego, Arizona all get in the playoffs.
03:59But no one's beating the Dodgers for the division, I don't think.
04:04I don't think so either, unless these injuries keep piling up here.
04:07But they always make the throw guys out there. They only have a two-game lead currently.
04:11So we'll see. But I'm with you about the Dodgers win here.
04:15I'm a little disappointed in Arizona.
04:16They get out to a decent start. They've been sputtering ever since.
04:20And we sort of need to see them hit their stride here.
04:23But I'm interested in Arizona here. But I'm not betting against the Dodgers.
04:27That's just not a good way to make money.
04:29And is this the pennant for the Phillies ever?
04:32I mean, it feels like this is like in the NBA facing Michael Jordan every year.
04:37And there's just going to be a second-place team.
04:40I mean, I don't know how the Phillies beat the Dodgers, George. I don't see it.
04:43But Zach Wheeler, I mean, it's a pitching staff.
04:48If the Dodgers could still be – listen, I'm just throwing stuff out there.
04:50But Zach Wheeler, forget Nola. Suarez, Sanchez, Lizardo.
04:55I mean, you know, with those guys, Craig, and they'll make additions, right?
04:58They'll spend money at the deadline.
05:00Yeah.
05:00I could see it. I wouldn't mind taking a – listen, I wouldn't expect to win,
05:03but I wouldn't mind taking a shot on the Phillies.
05:06I think they're the only team that really currently has a shot.
