00:00Trainer Lonnie Briley is on a ride he never could have envisioned for himself with Cole Battle.
00:06A $70,000 yearling turned Rebel Stakes winner who has taken Briley to his first Kentucky Derby.
00:12I never even thought about it, you know, really.
00:16I didn't, it was never on the bucket list that I didn't think I'd have that kind of horse.
00:22And then when I found him, I was just, I was looking for a race horse, you know, a good horse.
00:27And I had three on my short list and I kept going back to him and then he's the one I wanted.
00:33You see how you doing?
00:35Every day.
00:36You look and observe.
00:40Made over a million dollars doing that, so that's okay.
00:43He has a really a quick turn of foot and it's just when to push the button.
00:48You got to have patience and patience, you know, and then, uh,
00:52the big long started horses when if they get checked, they get checked, you know, but him, he's gone.
00:58You know, he's quick.
01:00He'll lay down most of the day and then he'll stand in his corner.
01:05And then if somebody comes to the door, he's going to come eat them and play with them.
01:09But he's neat.
01:10You know, it's like he talks to you in his own little way.
01:13And see, after every race, he go to the test barn, come back to the barn, wheeling and squealing like he didn't even run.
01:23First time I run in the greatest stakes, the first time I win one.
01:28That was pretty neat.
01:30Win four stakes in a row and then run third in the Arkansas Derby and, you know, didn't have a real good trip, you know.
01:36But he come out of it good and he's training good, you know, doing everything you want him to do.
01:43Okay, boys, let's hurry up and get that tax off so he can walk.
01:48He might have got his five-eighths anyway.
01:51Yeah, I mean, I was not expecting him to see that.
01:54Yeah, yes.
01:55But he did it good.
01:56Oh, yeah.
01:57Well, he looked like he was cruising around it.
01:59He was.
02:00He just like.
02:01Cool.
02:02Worked a half today, went in 48-2 and like he didn't do anything, you know, as you can see.
02:11But we'll see, you know.
02:15He'll work five-eighths in seven days and count down.
02:20Not breathing or nothing.
02:22You know, like he didn't even do anything.
02:26The pressure, you know, more than anything, you know, horse race is a horse race.
02:32But when you get to the Kentucky Derby, it's a little more.
02:35Huh, boy.
02:36Huh.
02:37Huh.
02:38Huh.
02:39Yeah.
02:40Yeah.
02:41Yeah.
02:42I'm picking on you.
02:43He thinks he's human.
02:47He thinks he's human.
