00:00Kena, I don't want any trouble.
00:30I just wanted to speak to Moira if she's around. Is she here?
00:34Doesn't look like it.
00:39Can you just tell her then that I moved the steers to the top field like she asked?
00:45What time should you kick off then?
00:48First light.
00:51I bet you aren't popular at home.
00:54I'm about as popular there as I am anywhere else. How is she?
00:59How do you think?
01:02I saw Victoria yesterday.
01:05Well, that went down well.
01:08Yeah, well, John was reassuring and he didn't need to be.
01:12He said that Harry's over the worst of it and he's going to pull through.
01:18If anything happens to him, I'm...
01:22And what happens if other people get sick?
01:24I've done plenty of things in my past that I'm not proud of.
01:30But this...
01:32And I'm really sorry for how I was with you yesterday. I really am.
01:38This is a nightmare.
01:43Nobody else seems too bad, sir.
01:46Charles and Claudette, they're on the mend.
01:49Sit down. I'll make you a brew.
01:59All right.
02:01Cheers.
02:02I feel bad buying bottled water, global warming and all that.
02:05Well, at least it's safe to drink. Frankie's all right, aren't you?
02:08Yeah, thank God.
02:10I just wish they'd hurry up and fix it.
02:12I did not budge it for this.
02:14The mark-up is quite extraordinary.
02:16I could have been a billionaire by now.
02:19That's the spirit.
02:2132.70, thank you.
02:24Nope.
02:26Declined.
02:27Oh.
02:29Dodgy signal?
02:30Probably, Charlie.
02:33I must have just maxed it out. Sorry.
02:37I could take it out of your wages.
02:40Oh, that could be a slippery slope.
02:42Yeah, no, it's fine.
02:44Cain had lent me some money to help with Frankie,
02:46but I must have spent it all on bottled water, probably.
02:50Is Nate still MIA?
02:52Yeah.
02:53It's all right. I'll just put some of this back.
02:55No, no, no. Don't worry. I'll get it.
02:57Well, I can't ask you to do that.
02:58You're not asking me. I'm offering. It's no big deal.
03:01You sure?
03:02Yeah.
03:03Thanks.
03:06I'll help you carry that as well.
03:08Not light, are they?
03:09No wonder they invented taps.
03:11Thanks.
03:13Oi.
03:14Bye.
03:22Oi.
03:23Madam.
03:25Are you responsible for the state of the kitchen,
03:26or have we been burgled?
03:28Well, what did you expect me to do?
03:29We don't have any safe water.
03:30I can't exactly clean up.
03:31Oh, great.
03:32So you thought you'd just swan off in here
03:33and leave me to sort it all out, did you?
03:35Right, well, hopefully we'll get the water sorted soon
03:36and then I'll deal with it.
03:38Oh, well, we could do with some good luck, that's for sure.
03:41Any news on Harry?
03:42No update.
03:43Not since Vic tore a strip off Matt yesterday.
03:47She must be beside herself.
03:49Well, she'd never have gone down there, should he?
03:51I mean, he was asking for trouble.
03:53And poor Harry, gosh, it's so rubbish being in hospital when you're that little...
03:57Who'd have kids, eh?
04:00Well, it must be worth it though, otherwise no one would bother.
04:04Well, that's what we keep telling ourselves.
04:05So please, Sarah, do me a favour.
04:06Help me believe.
04:08Tidy up after yourself in the future.
04:09I've already said I will.
04:12You've got some nerves showing your face, haven't you?
04:15Can this wait, Nicola?
04:16I'm really not in the mood.
04:18I have done nothing but wait since six o'clock this morning.
04:21I've been bounced around from pillar to post and currently on hold, again.
04:25Trying to get someone from environmental health to tell me
04:27when our water's going to be back on.
04:29Well, hey, your guess is as good as mine.
04:31I'm trying to run a business here and I've got three kids at home.
04:35Four, if you include Jimmy.
04:36We can't go on like this.
04:38Well, we're all in the same boat here because of your half-wit husband.
04:41Right, there's no point in fighting about it.
04:43I don't really know what you want me to say, Nicola.
04:46Mac feels really bad about what's happened, by the way.
04:48Really, really bad.
04:50In fact, I'm actually quite worried about him.
04:52But he didn't do it deliberately and he's pretty gutted about it.
04:55So you carry on shouting your face off, Nicola, if that makes you feel better.
04:57But nothing you can say can make this any worse.
05:06Oh, come on, that's the...
05:08I saw you keep saying, but, you know, this feels like you're trying to squirm out of your responsibility on a technicality.
05:14What? Fine. Well, thank you for nothing. Oh, and if I can return the favour...
05:21Who guesses who that was?
05:24Flaming insurance company. I mean, there's not an ounce of humanity in them.
05:28What are they saying now?
05:30They're still not budging. They're not going to pay a penny.
05:32On the grounds that the slurry leak went beyond the bounds of our farm.
05:38I mean, that's the thing about leaks. They leak. They don't respect boundaries, do they?
05:42Oh, and talking to somebody who's never even set foot in a field.
05:45I mean, that's just making my blood boil, I can tell you.
05:48You know I'll do all I can.
05:51Look, it's not your mess, is it?
05:53Yeah, we'll sort this.
05:54Will we?
05:55Honestly, Cain, I know I keep saying this, but I really think that this one's taking me under.
05:59Hey.
06:00Hi.
06:01I've got Lewis in the car. I know, I tried to hold him off until things calmed down.
06:05I know you've got a load on your plate, but he was dead keen for today.
06:09Now's not a good time.
06:10Well, when's it gonna be?
06:12You clear off to work, you go and fetch him in and let's get this done.
06:20I mean, it's one thing trying to run a vet surgery without running water,
06:24but it's practically impossible for a cafe.
06:26Yeah, it's tricky, I get it.
06:27Tricky? That's one way for it.
06:29I mean, I've even tried tapping up some of my old work colleagues from the council.
06:32Some people have very short memories.
06:34Well, I'm sure it'll get sorted one way or another.
06:35If we're not all dead of dysentery.
06:37Well, they can't just leave us like this, can they?
06:39Well, they've managed so far.
06:40I mean, honestly, the hours I have put in, in those dreadful meetings with the more boring on about
06:45traffic zoning and big collection and pest control,
06:48they should give me an MBE, never mind basic sanitation rights.
06:52Hang on.
06:53Yes, yes, I'm here.
06:56I've aged 20 years, but I'm still here.
07:02I thought I was never getting out of that convo.
07:04Yeah, she is on when alright, but then again, when is she not?
07:07So, er, how's it going?
07:09Any news about, you know?
07:11Yeah, I've got an appointment at the fertility clinic today.
07:14What time?
07:152.30.
07:17Erm, okay, well, I could give you a lift if you like.
07:19Really?
07:20Yeah, I mean, you don't want to be turning up all sweaty and stressed out.
07:24It's a big deal finding out if you can be a mum or not.
07:27Tell me about it. I'm not happy to take you.
07:28We all need a bit of moral support, don't we?
07:32What you two think I see is about?
07:33Well, you'd be pleased to know that I've finally got somewhere with the council.
07:37They're sending an emergency water supply today.
07:39Turns out I've still got some clout after all.
07:42Thank God for that.
07:43Yeah, go Nicola.
07:51Hi.
07:52Oh, come in, come in.
07:54Moira Dingle, meet Lewis Barton.
07:57Thank you so much for agreeing to see me.
07:59I heard about the slurry leak.
08:01Oh, great.
08:02My timing could be better.
08:03And yet, here you are.
08:05Er, well, come and sit down and make yourself comfy.
08:08Do you want a tea or a coffee?
08:09I'm fine, thanks.
08:11I'll have whatever's going.
08:12Well, I'll have one while you're at it.
08:13You know where the kettle is.
08:15So, erm, have you always farmed then?
08:18Is it like a whole family thing or...?
08:21Well, I know Emma was a nurse, but I guess she married into the dynasty, right?
08:25Mm-hm.
08:26Sorry, I know it can't be easy to talk about her.
08:29Er, no, no, it's fine.
08:31Well, it can't be that fine knowing your son killed her.
08:34Lewis!
08:35Er, sorry.
08:36I'm always doing this.
08:38Er, my mum, my adoptive mum, er, she reckons I've got splitting mouth disease.
08:43Er, I know she had mental health issues.
08:50Doesn't beat around the bush, does he?
08:52Couldn't you have got help or something?
08:54Like, I just can't work out what went so wrong.
08:56There we go. Let's see.
08:57Can't have you fading away when you're supposed to be on mum duty.
08:58I don't like leaving him.
08:59You'll be fine for five minutes and a bit of fresh air will do you good.
09:00Well, I don't look that rough.
09:01No.
09:02But it will give the nurses a chance to get on with the jobs without you breathing down their necks.
09:05Well, I obviously learnt from the best.
09:06Oh, I, um, I got you a few, er, extra bits just on the off chance you want to freshen up or whatever.
09:07You didn't need to do that.
09:08Yeah, I know.
09:09I wanted to.
09:10Never had a little sister before.
09:11Wow.
09:12Hand cream.
09:13Wow.
09:14Hand cream.
09:15A nail cream.
09:16Yeah.
09:17I don't need to do that.
09:18Yeah, I know.
09:19I wanted to.
09:20Never had a little sister before.
09:21Wow.
09:22Hand cream.
09:23A nail cream.
09:24Yeah.
09:25Yeah.
09:26Yeah.
09:27Yeah.
09:28Yeah.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Yeah.
09:31Yeah.
09:32Yeah.
09:33Yeah.
09:34Yeah.
09:35Yeah.
09:36Yeah.
09:37Yeah.
09:38Yeah.
09:39Yeah.
09:40Hand cream.
09:41A nail file.
09:43Some lip balm.
09:44You've got it all covered.
09:45Well, that's army training for you.
09:47Always prepare for the unexpected.
09:49And how much chocolate do you think I'm going to eat?
09:51Well, you can't have too much, right?
09:55Right.
09:56Best get back to Harry.
09:57Well, I'll follow you in.
09:59Actually, I'll just give Aaron a quick call first.
10:02Thanks, Tom.
10:03And I really appreciate you looking after us.
10:10John.
10:11It is you.
10:12I thought it was you.
10:13Oh, it's good to see you.
10:14I was in such a fluster trying to get here quick.
10:17The traffic's murder.
10:18But I picked up that message telling me to come in right away about Aidan.
10:23They called you too then.
10:25I don't know.
10:26Yeah.
10:27I thought it was you.
10:28I thought it was you.
10:29Oh, it's good to see you.
10:31I was in such a fluster, trying to get here quick.
10:33The traffic's murder.
10:34But I picked up that message telling me to come in right away about Aidan.
10:36They called you too then.
10:40Oh, come on.
10:53it's so good to see a friendly face i hate hospitals i hate the lighting i hate the smell
11:04god forgive me i hate being around all those sick people so um so what's happened i don't know
11:12they're awful vague they just asked me to come in and see my aiden well our aiden have you been in
11:23no no i'm actually here because my nephew's been admitted he picked up something really nasty from
11:30contaminated water oh no poor little mite how old is he five oh how awful i actually need to go and
11:39check in on him now i thought we could go in and see aiden together just in case it's bad news
11:45it'll be fine i will come and find you as soon as i can oh kathleen come on come on where's that
11:54fighting spirit hey i'm sure there is absolutely nothing to worry about
11:59with your medical history getting pregnant would be quite a challenge yeah i know that's what man
12:13preet said oh dr sharma it's a small village lines get blurred but it's not impossible right
12:20you've already been through quite a lot yeah so we know i'm strong well i don't think anyone's gonna
12:27argue with that now i know you'll have discussed all of this with your gp but i'd be neglecting my
12:33duties as a doctor not to reiterate the fact that people with fanconi anemia are unlikely to be able
12:39to conceive yeah well i've done my research it is possible
12:42look if there's something specific you'd like me to take a look at then i'd be happy to
12:50of course as i'm sure you've spoken about with your mother oh no no no i'm um i'm not a mom i'm
12:56just a family friend yeah my mom's not around i live with my gran and what about a partner do you have
13:01one well i don't need one do i not if i'm gonna do it through sperm donation she has got a big family
13:08around her a good support network well it takes a village so let's say you are able to carry a baby
13:17to full term as i'm sure you're aware with your condition even with medical advances
13:24fanconi anemia will impact your life expectancy yeah trust me i know that is all anyone has told
13:29me for the longest time you know make every second count and we can introduce you to counselors to help
13:34you deal with that i don't need counseling that's not what i'm here for and none of us know how long
13:37we've got left do we we really don't but i need to know that you fully understood the ramifications
13:45of bringing a baby into the world when it's quite possible that you're not going to be around to
13:50see them grow into adulthood yeah i have thought about this for a really long time but what i'm
13:54asking you is can i have a baby or not i'm not sure i'm ready for an interrogation just at the minute
14:00i know i know i mean i knew he had questions but he's autistic isn't he no he told me yesterday
14:05so i don't think subtle social niceties are high on his agenda you're not very good at whispering
14:17so that's adam then
14:20doesn't look like a killer but then what can you really tell from a photo i guess we've all got it in
14:26us if we push far enough have you forgiven him he's my son firstborn no why did he do it then
14:39was it revenge for herkin and finn and james no it wasn't like that i mean she was a
14:44she she had a lot of problems and me and her we had a complicated history oh she didn't like me very
14:52much and she got really paranoid and she couldn't regulate her emotions like wouldn't let things
15:00drop what things well and adam he was he was just trying to protect me we should have tried to get
15:09her help mate you're right adam didn't mean to hurt her not really it's just an an awful horrible accident
15:18maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all i've got so many questions i know mate we get
15:24well i can't ask emma can i let's face it come on mate let's pick this up another time shall we
15:30seriously lewis enough now let's go okay well thanks anyway it's a lovely place
15:48the physical and emotional rigors of an ivf journey aren't ones to be underestimated
16:01the toll it takes on your body can be quite profound yeah i know and of course there's a
16:07serious financial burden that you need to consider especially if the cost falls on you alone i can find
16:13the money on average our patients undergo around three rounds of treatment which can cost you upwards
16:19of thirty thousand pounds with no guarantee of success well it's just money right i i just don't
16:26want to give you false hope look i know the odds are against me but i want this more than anything
16:30it's all i've ever wanted so i've i've got to try look i'm not stupid sarah well we know that and i
16:39know how hard it's going to be and how slim the odds are but i just i need you to give me a chance
16:44well first things first let's assess your egg reserve okay i could do a full physical exam
16:50tomorrow take some bloods and we'll go from there thank you don't thank me just yet this is the first
16:57step of a very very long journey what do you mean the insurance doesn't cover it what is the point in
17:06having any um i mean it's a total racket she's having to pay for tanks a lot for livestock you
17:12won't believe how much sheep can drink yeah all right bell i'm sorry what you having chase ah nothing
17:20thanks just brought this back eve lent frankie it little outfit for dress-up day oh cute i know i
17:28i should have slept in it if i'd allow bell said you've still not heard from nate nope that'll peep
17:38i mean what is he playing at poor frankie's head's gonna be fried bless her
17:44sorry subtle as a brick as per no you've not said anything i haven't thought myself you're a great
17:49mom she's gonna be all right yeah i'll make sure of it and take it through yourself around the back thanks
17:58it's fine i'll go a red wine please actually make it a large one he's paying yeah mackerel
18:15mine's a bear cheers pal did you hear that from the insurance mm-hmm it was a flat no so i'm out of
18:24options i really am so sorry he stopped saying sorry well you know if there's anything that i can
18:31do well the damage is done mackenzie so you're just gonna have to learn to live with it thank you
18:46thanks for coming with me oh no thanks necessary so what you fancy green tea builders have you got
18:52anything chocolatey i fancy celebrating what nothing i am i just i don't want you getting your
19:02hopes up too high i was there you know i was listening don't you think it's time to talk to
19:07your mum or charity why apart from the fact that they're your family and they're gonna want to support
19:13you there is the small matter of funding things if you're able to go ahead right just let me get
19:17tomorrow out of the way you know what they're like i just want this one thing to myself for a bit
19:20plus you heard what dr knapp said the chances are tiny of anything actually happening so
19:25oh so you were actually listening then yes but then again i have spent half my life to find the odds
19:30so who's to say i won't do it again hey we'll get you home soon don't you worry mate get you in your
19:42gym jim jams film on world's biggest bucket of ice cream
19:49soon forget any of this ever happened
19:53hey he's been a good boy he has been a cheeky little monkey oh really he's definitely on the
20:01amendment the doctor say that they're cautiously optimistic but he's off the drip now yeah he's
20:08got much better color as well might even get a treat if he's lucky a puppy oh the campaign continues
20:17come on my love try and come back to us i know you can do it
20:22the doctor said you managed to move a finger they're all very happy with you
20:30but can you do it again for your old mum just give me a sign anything will do squeeze my hand
20:41any idea when he'll be discharged no they didn't say but they want to keep an eye on him belt and braces
20:50but if he's a very good boy he might be able to come home soon yeah that's great news isn't it
20:57get out of here as soon as possible hey we made it through the storm
21:02and do you know john's coming in i saw him downstairs he said he'd come
21:18you
