00:00Peace be upon you all, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
00:05Welcome to our channel.
00:08Today we will discuss the biography of Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, based on the Quran, Hadith,
00:15and well-known Islamic historical sources.
00:19Identity of Hud, Alayhis Salaam.
00:22The lineage of Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, is Hud ibn Shayli, ibn Ar-Fakshad, ibn Sam,
00:31ibn Nuh, Alayhis Salaam.
00:35According to another narration, Hud ibn Abdullah, ibn Rabah, ibn Jarad, ibn Az, ibn Aus, ibn
00:43Iram, ibn Sam, ibn Nuh, Alayhis Salaam.
00:49The nation of Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, was called Ad, the descendants of Ad ibn Aus,
00:56ibn Sam, ibn Nuh.
00:58They inhabited the region of Akhf, a sandy hill area located in today's Yemen, specifically
01:05between Oman and Hadramaut.
01:08It was a settlement near the water body called Shahr.
01:12Their valley was known as Magith, and they lived in tents pitched upon tall pillars.
01:18Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, was sent to the fierce and powerful nation of Ad.
01:25Among the six major nations destroyed by the wrath of Allah, the Ad nation was the second
01:30after the nation of Nuh, Alayhis Salaam.
01:34Hud, Alayhis Salaam himself was a descendant of Ad.
01:39Both Ad and the Mud were descendants of Sam, the son of Nuh, Alayhis Salaam, and were the
01:45fifth or eighth generation after Nuh.
01:49The descendants of Iram's son Ad were known as Ad al-Ula, first Ad, and the descendants
01:55of the other son, the Mud, were known as Ad al-Thani, second Ad.
02:01Both Ad and the Mud were branches of the lineage of Iram.
02:05Therefore, the term Iram is equally applicable to both tribes.
02:11That is why the Qur'an sometimes uses the term Ad al-Ula and sometimes Iram dat al-Imad,
02:18Iram of the lofty pillars.
02:21The Ad community was divided into thirteen tribes.
02:25Their settlements extended from Amman to Hadhramaut and Yemen.
02:30Their fields were lush and fertile.
02:33They had all kinds of gardens and orchards.
02:37They were physically strong and heavily built.
02:41Allah had opened the doors of blessings upon them.
02:44But due to their arrogance and twisted thinking, these blessings turned into a curse for them.
02:50They became misguided and misled others.
02:54Boasting in their power, they began to claim, Who is more powerful than us?
03:00They abandoned the worship of Allah and revived idol worship and shirk that had existed during
03:06the time of Nuh, Alayhis Salaam.
03:10They completely forgot the great flood that had occurred just a few generations ago.
03:16Therefore, Allah sent Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, as a prophet from among them to guide
03:22them.
03:23It is notable that they were the first to start idol worship again after the flood of
03:28Nuh.
03:29The people of Hud, Alayhis Salaam, were so absorbed in the pride of their kingdom, power,
03:35and physical strength that they completely forgot Allah.
03:39They took the idols they had created with their own hands as their gods and began committing
03:44all sorts of satanic deeds without fear.
03:48After the great flood of Nuh, Alayhis Salaam, Ad-Alula was the first to start idol worship
03:54again.
03:55They had three main idols.
03:58Sadud, Samudda, Hara.
04:02Allah sent Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, among them as a messenger.
04:07He called them towards the worship of Allah.
04:11The name of Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, is mentioned in nine places in the Holy Quran.
04:18The story of the people of Ad is described in 73 verses across 17 surahs.
04:25Here, we will quote some verses from the Holy Quran.
04:29In Surah Al-A'raf, verses 65-72, Allah says, And to the people of Ad We sent their brother
04:39Hud.
04:40He said, O My people, worship Allah, you have no other god except Him.
04:47Will you not then fear Him?
04:49The disbelieving chiefs of His people responded, We surely see you as a fool, and We certainly
04:56think you are a liar.
04:58Hud replied, O My people, I am no fool, but I am a messenger from the Lord of all worlds,
05:07conveying to you My Lord's messages, and I am your sincere advisor.
05:14Do you find it astonishing that a reminder should come to you from your Lord through
05:18one of your own, so He may warn you?
05:22Remember that He made you successors after the people of Noah, and increased you greatly
05:27in stature.
05:28So remember Allah's favors, so you may be successful.
05:33They said, Have you come to us so that we would worship Allah alone and abandon what
05:39our forefathers used to worship?
05:42Then bring us what you threaten us with, if what you say is true.
05:47He said, You will certainly be subjected to your Lord's torment and wrath.
05:53Do you dispute with Me regarding the so-called gods which you and your forefathers have made
05:58up, a practice Allah has never authorized?
06:02Then wait.
06:03I too am waiting with you.
06:06So We saved him and those with him by our mercy and uprooted those who denied Our signs.
06:13They were not believers.
06:16Surah Hud, verses 50-60, Allah has described this incident as follows.
06:23And to the people of Ad We sent their brother Hud.
06:26He said, O My people!
06:29Worship Allah.
06:31You have no god other than Him.
06:34You do nothing but fabricate lies against Allah.
06:38O My people!
06:40I do not ask you for any reward for this message.
06:44My reward is only from the One who created Me.
06:48Will you not then understand?
06:51And O My people!
06:53Seek your Lord's forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance.
06:58He will shower you with rain in abundance and add strength to your strength.
07:04So do not turn away, persisting in wickedness.
07:09They argued, O Hud!
07:11You have not given us any clear proof, and we will never abandon our gods upon your word,
07:17nor will we believe in you.
07:20All we can say is that some of our gods have possessed you with evil.
07:25He said, I call Allah to witness, and you too bear witness, that I totally reject whatever
07:32you associate with Him in worship.
07:36So let all of you plot against Me without delay.
07:40I have put My trust in Allah, My Lord and your Lord.
07:45There is no living creature that is not completely under His control point when surely My Lord's
07:50way is perfect justice.
07:53But if you turn away, I have already delivered to you what I have been sent with.
07:59My Lord will replace you with others.
08:02You are not harming Him in the least.
08:05Indeed, My Lord is a vigilant keeper over all things.
08:10When our command came, we rescued Hud and those who believed with him by a mercy from
08:16us, saving them from a harsh torment.
08:20That was Zad.
08:21They denied the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His messengers, and followed the command of
08:27every stubborn tyrant.
08:29They were followed by a curse in this world, as they will be on the Day of Judgment.
08:36Surely Ad denied their Lord.
08:38So away with Ad, the people of Hud.
08:42Surah Al-Mu'minin, verses 31-41.
08:47Then we raised another generation after them, and sent to them a messenger from among themselves,
08:55declaring, Worship Allah alone.
08:58You have no god other than Him.
09:01Will you not then fear Him?
09:04But the chiefs of His people, who disbelieved, denied the meeting with Allah in the hereafter,
09:10and were spoiled by the worldly luxuries we had provided for them, said to the masses,
09:15This is only a human like you.
09:18He eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink.
09:22And if you ever obey a human like yourselves, then you would certainly be losers.
09:29Does He promise you that once you are dead and reduced to dust and bones, you will be
09:34brought forth alive?
09:36Impossible, simply impossible is what you are promised.
09:42There is nothing beyond our worldly life.
09:45We die, others are born, and none will be resurrected.
09:50He is no more than a man who has fabricated a lie about Allah, and we will never believe
09:55in Him.
09:57The messenger prayed, My Lord, help me, because they have denied me.
10:04Allah responded, Soon they will be truly regretful.
10:09Then the mighty blast overtook them with justice, and we reduced them to rubble.
10:15So away with the wrongdoing people.
10:19Torah Ash-Shuwara, Verses 128-139
10:25Do you build a sign or monument on every high place for no reason, just for show?
10:32And do you construct strong palaces, as if you will live forever?
10:38And when you strike, do you strike as tyrants?
10:43So fear Allah and obey me.
10:46Fear Him who has provided you with everything you know.
10:50He has provided you with livestock and children, gardens and springs.
10:58Truly, I fear for you the punishment of a great day.
11:03They said, It is the same to us whether you preach or do not preach.
11:10This is just the tradition of the former peoples.
11:14We are not going to be punished.
11:17So they denied Him, and we destroyed them.
11:21Surely, in that is a sign, but most of them were not believers.
11:26Surah Fusilat, Ayat 14-16
11:31When the messengers came to them from before them and from behind them, saying,
11:37Worship none but Allah, they said.
11:40If our Lord had willed, He would surely have sent down angels.
11:45So indeed, we disbelieve in what you have been sent with.
11:50As for the people of Ad, they acted arrogantly upon the earth without right and said,
11:56Who is mightier than us in strength?
12:00Did they not see that Allah, who created them, is mightier than them in strength?
12:06Yet they continued to reject our signs.
12:10So we sent upon them a furious wind during a disastrous day, to make them taste a disgraceful
12:16punishment in the life of this world.
12:19But truly, the punishment of the Hereafter is far more humiliating, and they will not
12:25be helped.
12:26Surah Al-Aqaf, Ayat 21-26
12:31And mention the story of the brother of Ad, that is, Prophet Hud.
12:36When he warned his people in Al-Aqaf, the sand dunes, while warners had already passed
12:41before and after him, he said, Worship none but Allah.
12:47Truly, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous day.
12:52They said, Have you come to turn us away from our gods?
12:58Then bring us what you threaten us with, if you are truthful.
13:02He said, Knowledge of that is only with Allah.
13:07I only convey to you what I have been sent with, but I see that you are a people behaving
13:12ignorantly.
13:14Then when they saw the cloud approaching their valleys, they said, This is a cloud bringing
13:20us rain.
13:23But Hud said, No, it is what you sought to hasten, a wind containing a painful punishment.
13:31It destroyed everything by the command of its Lord, so that nothing could be seen except
13:36their ruined dwellings.
13:38Thus do we recompense the wicked people.
13:42And indeed we had established them in a way that we have not established you, and we gave
13:47them hearing, sight, and hearts.
13:50But neither their hearing nor their sight, nor their hearts availed them at all, because
13:55they used to reject the signs of Allah.
13:58And that which they used to mock surrounded them.
14:02Surah Dariyat, Ayat 41 and 42.
14:07And in the story of Ad there is a sign.
14:10When we sent against them the barren destructive wind.
14:14It left nothing of what it passed over, but that it crushed it to dust.
14:20Surah An-Najm, Ayat 50 to 55.
14:24And that it is He who destroyed the first Ad.
14:28And the people of Thamud, sparing none.
14:31And the people of En before them, indeed, they were more unjust and rebellious.
14:37And the overturned cities, He hurled down.
14:41And there covered them what covered them, that is overwhelming punishment.
14:46Then, which of your Lord's favours will you doubt?
14:51Surah Al-Kamar, Ayat 18 to 21.
14:55The people of Ad denied the truth.
14:58So how severe were my punishment and warnings.
15:02We sent upon them a furious wind on a day of unrelenting disaster.
15:07Tearing people away as if they were uprooted trunks of palm trees.
15:12So how severe were my punishment and warnings.
15:17Surah Al-Haqqah, Ayat 6 to 8.
15:22And as for the people of Ad, they were destroyed by a furious roaring wind.
15:27Which Allah unleashed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession.
15:33So that you would have seen its people lying fallen like hollow trunks of palm trees.
15:39Do you see any remnants of them now?
15:42Surah Al-Fajar, Ayat 6 to 8.
15:46Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the people of Ad?
15:50Iram of the lofty pillars.
15:53The like of whom was never created in the land.
15:57The outcome of the Dawah of Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam.
16:02Prophet Hud, peace be upon him, called his people, the tribe of Ad, to abandon shirk,
16:09associating partners with Allah, and to establish Tawd, the oneness of Allah, in every aspect
16:15of life.
16:16He urged them to give up idol worship and abandon oppression and injustice, and instead
16:22to follow the path of fairness and justice.
16:26But blinded by their wealth and intoxicated by their worldly power and pride, they rejected
16:31the Prophet's message.
16:34They said, without witnessing the punishment you warn us of, or any miraculous sign, how
16:40can we give up the gods of our forefathers based solely on your words?
16:45Rather, we suspect that you have been possessed by a jinn or gone mad due to insulting our
16:51gods.
16:53In response to their accusations, Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, answered with the fearless
16:59voice of a true prophet, Even if you reject me, then know this, I disown all those imaginary
17:06gods of yours besides Allah.
17:09You and your deities together may try to harm me if you can.
17:14But you will never be able to do so except by Allah's will.
17:18He is my Lord, and upon him alone I place my trust.
17:24Allah always helps those who follow the straight path.
17:28Despite such a bold and solitary declaration against a proud and powerful nation, they
17:34could not even touch a hair on his head.
17:37Indeed, this was one of his miracles, a sign that their imagined gods had no power whatsoever.
17:45Then Prophet Hud, Alayhis Salaam, declared, I have conveyed to you the truth with which
17:51Allah has sent me.
17:53Now if you continue to reject it and persist in your arrogance, then know for certain that
17:59the punishment of Allah, whose warning you repeatedly demand, will inevitably descend
18:04upon you.
18:06So beware.
18:08Repent and return to Allah's path while there is still time.
18:12But the unfortunate people paid no attention to his words.
18:17Instead, puffed up with arrogance, they exclaimed, Who is stronger than us in power on this earth?
18:26Thus, the divine wrath of Allah became inevitable for them.
18:31The era of the Ad people.
18:34It is estimated that the era of the Ad people was around 2,000 years before the time of
18:39Prophet Esai with Makron, Jesus, peace be upon him.
18:45The Quran also mentions the Ad people as having come after the people of En, Noah, peace be
18:51upon him.
18:53Therefore, the Ad are considered among the nations that appeared following the people
18:58of En.
19:00This also indicates that after the repopulation of the Syrian region, the rise and development
19:06of the Semitic nations, descendants of Sam, began with the Ad civilization.
19:12The homeland of the Ad people.
19:15The central region of the Ad people was the area of Akkuf, located north of Hadramaut.
19:22Today, nothing remains there but sand dunes.
19:27Some historians claim that their settlement extended across the most fertile parts of
19:31Arabia, from Hadramaut and Yemen's coasts along the Persian Gulf, reaching up to the
19:37border of Iraq.
19:39Yemen is also believed to have been their capital.
19:43The religion of the Ad people.
19:46The Ad people were idol worshippers, like the nation of En, Allahis-Salam before them.
19:53They were experienced and skilled in the making and worship of idols.
19:58According to some early historians, their false deities were similar to those worshipped
20:03by the people of En, Wad, So, Yagath, and Nasir.
20:09In a narration attributed to Abdul Ibni Abz, Radi Allahu Anhu, two of their idols were
20:15named Amd and Awithmakranti Awithmakranar.
20:20The Description of the Divine Punishment upon the Ad People.
20:24Muhammad Ibn Isk narrates that due to the persistent disobedience and arrogance of the
20:30Ad people, Allah initially punished them by holding back rainfall for three consecutive
20:36years.
20:37Their fields dried up and turned into arid deserts.
20:41Their gardens were scorched and destroyed.
20:44Yet even then, they did not abandon shirk or idol worship.
20:49Eventually, they were forced to turn to Allah and pray for rain.
20:55At that time, white, black, and red clouds appeared in the sky, and a mysterious voice
21:01was heard asking them which cloud they preferred.
21:04The people chose the black cloud, hoping for rain.
21:09When the black cloud arrived, they joyfully welcomed it, saying, This will bring us rain.
21:17But their prophet Hud, alayhis salam, warned them, Rather, this is what you are hurrying
21:23to bring upon yourselves.
21:26Within it is a wind carrying a painful punishment.
21:30It will destroy everything by the command of its Lord.
21:34Then, the final divine wrath of Allah descended upon them the next morning.
21:40A violent storm raged continuously for seven nights and eight days.
21:46Thunderclaps and lightning strikes demolished their homes.
21:51Fierce winds uprooted trees.
21:54People and animals were lifted into the air and slammed onto the ground.
21:59In this way, the mighty and well-built nation of Ad was completely destroyed and wiped out,
22:06Allah says.
22:08And in addition to this, for them there is an everlasting curse in both this world and
22:14the hereafter.
22:16Hazret Aisha, Radiallahu anha, said, Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings
22:23be upon him, saw clouds or a storm, his face would turn pale.
22:29He would say, O Aisha, a people were destroyed by this very wind and cloud.
22:36They rejoiced upon seeing it, thinking it would bring them rain, while in fact it brought
22:42their destruction.
22:44The significance of this fear was that a widespread divine punishment can befall an
22:52entire community due to the sins of a few.
22:56An example is the battle of Uhud, where the mistake of a few led to suffering for many.
23:02Allah warns about this in the Quran.
23:05And fear a trial which will not strike only those among you who have wronged.
23:11And know that Allah is severe in punishment.
23:23Before the punishment descended, Allah instructed His Prophet Hud, and the believing companions
23:31to leave the area.
23:33They complied and were thus saved from the impending torment.
23:37It is narrated that Hud, alayhis salam, then migrated to Makkah, where he passed away.
23:44However, Ibn Kathir quotes Hazret Ali, Radiallahu anhu, as saying that Hud, alayhis salam, was
23:53buried in Yemen.
23:55And Allah knows best.
23:57A detailed account of the Ad people's destruction.
24:01The Mufassiran, Quranic commentators, and other scholars have mentioned a narration
24:07from Imam Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Zashari regarding the destruction of the people of Ad.
24:14When the people of Hud, alayhis salam, refused to accept faith and persisted in disbelief,
24:21Allah withheld rain from them for three consecutive years, resulting in a severe famine.
24:27It was customary at that time for people to go to the sacred house, Haram Sharif in Makkah,
24:33to pray for relief during times of drought.
24:37This tradition was well known among the people of that era.
24:41At the time, the tribe of Amalekites resided in that region.
24:46They were descendants of Amalek ibn-i-Lawd ibn-i-Sam ibn-i-An, alayhis salam.
24:53Their leader was Mawiyya ibn-i-Bakr, whose mother Jalhajah bint Khaybari was from the
24:59Ad tribe.
25:00The Ad people sent a delegation of about seventy men to pray for rain at the sacred house.
25:07They stayed at the home of Mawiyya ibn-i-Bakr, in the outskirts of Makkah.
25:13Mawiyya hosted them generously.
25:16They stayed there for a month, during which they drank wine and listened to the singing
25:21of Mawiyya's two female singers.
25:24It had taken them a full month to reach Makkah from their homeland.
25:29Seeing their long stay, Mawiyya began to feel pity for his own people and was concerned
25:35about their deteriorating condition.
25:38But he also felt shy to ask the guests to return.
25:42So, he composed a poem and instructed the female singers to sing it to the delegation.
25:49In the poem, he described the misery and hardship faced by the Ad people and blamed
25:54the delegation for failing to fulfill their duty.
25:58He encouraged them to take responsibility and act promptly on behalf of their people.
26:04At that moment, everyone in the group became aware of the purpose of their arrival.
26:10So they all went to the Haram Sharif, sacred mosque in Makkah, and the members of the tribe
26:16began supplicating to Allah.
26:19The leader of the prayer was Qayla ibn Anas.
26:23Then Allah the Almighty created three types of clouds, white, red, and black.
26:29A voice was heard from the sky saying,
26:33Qayla, choose any one of these clouds for yourself and your people.
26:39Qayla replied, I choose the black one, because black clouds usually bring the most rain.
26:47The unseen voice responded, You have chosen ashes and destruction.
26:53This cloud will not spare a single person of the Ad tribe, not father nor son.
27:00It will destroy all except for the clan of Banu Ludiyya.
27:05Banu Ludiyya was a branch of the Ad tribe that resided in Makkah and were thus spared
27:10from the punishment.
27:12According to Muhammad ibn Ishaq, the second Ad, also known as Thamud, were descendants
27:19of this branch.
27:21Then the black cloud, which Qayla ibn Anas had selected, was sent by Allah towards the
27:27people of Ad.
27:28When the cloud reached the valley of Magith, it became visible to the people.
27:34Seeing it, they began to rejoice and spread the good news among themselves, saying,
27:41This is a cloud coming towards us, it will bring us rain.
27:46But Hud, alayhis salam, warned them, This is what you were impatiently asking for.
27:53It is a storm carrying a painful punishment.
27:57It has been sent by the command of Allah and will destroy everything it touches.
28:03As a result, their fate was such that nothing remained of them except their abandoned homes.
28:10Like verses, Surah Al-Aqf, verses 24-25.
28:17Rather it is what you were hastening for, a wind wherein is a painful punishment.
28:23It will destroy everything by the command of its Lord.
28:27Surah Al-Aqaf, 24-25.
28:32That is, it would only destroy what it was commanded to destroy.
28:37Though it appeared to be a cloud, it was in fact a violent storm with punishment hidden
28:42within it.
28:44The first to see this storm was a woman from the tribe of Ad named Fahd.
28:49As soon as she saw it clearly, she screamed and fell unconscious.
28:54When she regained consciousness, the people asked her,
28:59Fahd, what did you see?
29:02She replied, I saw a violent windstorm, with flames blazing within it.
29:08At its front, several figures were dragging it forward.
29:13Then Allah unleashed that punishment upon the people for seven nights and eight consecutive
29:19days, utterly destroying them.
29:22Not a single person survived.
29:25Meanwhile, Hud, alayhis salam, withdrew with the believers to an enclosed area surrounded
29:32by a wall.
29:33That storm did not touch them.
29:36In fact, the breeze made their skin softer and brought them joy.
29:41But for the Ad people, the storm struck both the earth and sky, and pelted them with stones,
29:48annihilating them completely.
29:50Ibn Ishaq, radiallahu anhu, has detailed this event extensively in his works.
29:58THE MAIN CAUSES OF THE DESTRUCTION OF THE AD PEOPLE
30:04PSYCHOLOGICAL CAUSES
30:051.
30:07They undervalued the blessings of Allah.
30:10As a result, they turned away from obeying Allah and chose to follow the path of Satan,
30:16becoming rebellious.
30:182.
30:19They assumed Allah's blessings would be eternal for them.
30:243.
30:25They began worshipping imaginary deities as a means to protect themselves from the wrath
30:31of Allah.
30:324.
30:33They falsely accused Allah's Prophet.
30:375.
30:38They became fearless of Allah's punishment, even though they believed in Allah.
30:45MATERIAL CAUSES
30:46Primarily, there are three main causes.
30:501.
30:52They built towering structures and monuments in high places, which were nothing but wasteful
30:58extravagance.
30:592.
31:01They built strong fortresses and believed they would live in them forever.
31:063.
31:07They brutally attacked the weak and inflicted indescribable suffering on people.
31:13THE DEATH OF PROPHET HUD
31:15ALAYHIS SALAM
31:17There are various claims regarding the death and burial place of Prophet Hud, alayhis salam.
31:24The people of Hajra Mayuti claim that after the destruction of the Ad people, Prophet
31:30Hud, alayhis salam, migrated to Hajra Mayuti, where he passed away, and he was buried near
31:37Wadi Abarhats, about two miles east of the town of Dareem.
31:42A narration from Hazret Ali, Radi Allahu Anhu, states that his grave is located on the top
31:48of the red hill, Qasiri Ahmar, in Hajra Mayuti, with a ghazal tree, a type of tree standing
31:56next to it.
31:57The people of Palestine claim that Prophet Hud, alayhis salam, was buried in Palestine,
32:04and they have built a structure over his grave, holding annual religious gatherings and speeches,
32:10wasmafils there.
32:12However, the narration from Hajra Mayuti is considered the most authentic.
32:18This is because the settlements of the Ad people were near Hajra Mayuti.
32:23Therefore, it is understood that after the destruction of the Ad tribe, Prophet Hud,
32:29alayhis salam, would have stayed in the nearby settlements and passed away there.
32:35Hence, Hajra Mayuti is likely the true place of his burial.
32:41The core message of Prophet Hud, alayhis salam's invitation to the people of Ad is described
32:54by Allah in Surah Hud.
32:56In short, it can be summarized as Tawhid, oneness of Allah, Dawah, invitation to the
33:03truth, and Istighfar, seeking forgiveness.
33:07Firstly, he called his people to turn away from their imagined deities and return to
33:13the one true God, Allah, and to worship Him alone with sincerity, which is referred to
33:19as Tawhid in worship.
33:21After this, he continued his selfless invitation, urging people to free themselves from the
33:27filth of shirk, associating partners with Allah and various superstitions, and to embrace
33:34Allah's commandments.
33:36His invitation and Dawah were continuous, unbroken, and above any materialistic interests.
33:44He called the people to repent from their disbelief, polytheism, and other major sins,
33:51and to seek Allah's forgiveness earnestly.
33:54The three things mentioned above, Tawhid, Dawah, and Istighfar, are the essential teachings
34:00of all prophets.
34:02Indeed, within these three lies the welfare of humanity in this life and salvation in
34:09the hereafter.
34:10Whenever a person submits to the imagined gods, idols, or various deities, believing
34:17they will bring salvation, their true superiority is lost.
34:22Even the lowest of creatures, such as snakes and tulsi trees, will be worshipped.
34:29Instead of alleviating human suffering or helping others, such a person will worship
34:34lifeless idols, offering milk and bananas or presenting flowers as offerings.
34:41Some would even sacrifice human lives or engage in cruel practices to please their imagined
34:47gods.
34:48On the other hand, when a person turns entirely to Allah, recognizing Him as the sole Creator,
34:55Sustainer, Savior, Lawgiver, and the Giver of life and death, only then will they be
35:01freed from false allegiance to other creations.
35:05Under the servitude of Allah, they begin to feel free and consider themselves the best
35:10of creation.
35:12They will be inspired to assert Allah's supremacy over everything in creation, on earth, in
35:18water, and in the skies.
35:21As their knowledge and understanding increase, so will their devotion and obedience to Allah.
35:27Their sense of responsibility toward others and all of creation will also grow.
35:34Secondly, when a person invites others to the righteous path without any materialistic
35:39interests, it has a deep impact on others.
35:43If the invitation comes from the heart, filled with the guidance of Allah, it will leave
35:49an indelible mark on the hearts of others.
35:52The invitation to reform may initially provoke resistance, but in the end, it always leads
35:58to beneficial results.
36:01Even though the invitation of the prophets faced strong opposition from the religious
36:05and social leaders of their time, history has honored the prophets, not the wicked leaders.
36:12Thirdly, when a person repents and seeks forgiveness from Allah, not only does it bring
36:18welfare in their worldly life, but it also ensures happiness in their afterlife, and
36:24they receive special grace from Allah.
36:27Prophet Hud, alayhis salam, specifically told his people, O my people, seek forgiveness
36:34from Allah and turn to Him.
36:36Then He will send down rain from the heavens and increase your strength.
36:41Here, strength refers to physical strength, manpower, and wealth.
36:48All of these can be attained through tawbah, repentance, and istighfar, seeking forgiveness,
36:55as described in the verse.
36:57Lessons to Learn
36:59Among the above-mentioned points, there are important lessons for the oppressive societal
37:04leaders, tyrant governments, and the arrogant people of today.
37:10These include, 1.
37:13Denial of divine revelation and displaying pride and arrogance over injustice is the
37:18main reason for the descent of Allah's punishment upon the earth.
37:232.
37:24The nature of Allah's punishment can take many forms, but humans do not have the power
37:30to prevent it.
37:323.
37:33Lavish, wasteful and oppressive leaders are the cause of a nation suffering Allah's punishment.
37:404.
37:42Those upon whom Allah's punishment descends are condemned throughout all times and will
37:47never again be able to stand with pride.
37:505.
37:51A person or community who violates Allah's law's will, in the final judgment, face Allah's
37:58punishment in this world itself.
38:01Moreover, the punishment in the hereafter will be even more severe.
