00:00:00In a world where the it-thing is always changing, sometimes you need a tour guide or two to help you find your way to Pop Culture's Paradise.
00:00:07If you find yourself reminiscing or in need of a good recommendation, these two have you covered.
00:00:12And now, here's your hosts, Joey and Jeff!
00:00:21Welcome back to Pop Culture Paradise, my name is Jeff.
00:00:24And I'm Joe.
00:00:25And today, we're going to talk about some big-name pilots that never got off the ground that you need to know about.
00:00:32Nothing worse than a pilot that's grounded.
00:00:34But we're actually talking television pilots.
00:00:36And every year, they make a ton of these programs that almost nobody gets to watch.
00:00:42Isn't that kind of bizarre?
00:00:44It really is. It's hard to think about, like, how many TV shows we possibly, you know, we possibly could have enjoyed, but we never really got the chance to see them.
00:00:55And, you know, I hope this becomes a long-running series for us, because we got four here today.
00:01:00And they got big names, a solid enough premise to go to series.
00:01:05Today, we're going to see Jessica Simpson in a pilot.
00:01:08We're going to see a Jennifer Love Hewitt slash Ed O'Neill before he went on to do Modern Family and post Married With Children.
00:01:17We're going to see everyone's favorite animated bobcat, Bubsy.
00:01:21What could possibly go wrong?
00:01:23Everything, as we're about to find out.
00:01:26And also, we are going to see Macaulay Culkin in a sitcom.
00:01:33Yeah, this was weird to see, because he obviously became a very kind of, you know, quiet, kind of kept to himself.
00:01:41And then all of a sudden, here he is on this pilot.
00:01:46It's hard to even, like, pinpoint what age he might have been at the time, like early 20s or so.
00:01:50But it was in that weird time period where, like, Macaulay Culkin wasn't the kid actor and he wasn't in the tabloids anymore.
00:01:58And he was just sort of coming back to film.
00:02:00And he had sort of those minor movies.
00:02:02I think it was that movie with Mandy Moore.
00:02:04I think it was right around this time period.
00:02:05And then there was, what the heck is it called, Party Monster or something that he got a lot of fame for.
00:02:10That was bizarre, huh?
00:02:12And then he disappeared again.
00:02:13And then now, in the last few years, he's back.
00:02:16I don't know if he'd do a sitcom like we're going to see here today.
00:02:20Dude, one of the things that really came across watching this, not just this particular one with Macaulay Culkin,
00:02:29but all of them pretty much besides Bubsy, a lot of this comedy would not fly today.
00:02:36At all. At all.
00:02:38But that's part of the charm about it.
00:02:39And that's part of why I, you know, really enjoyed what we're about to discuss today.
00:02:45Yeah, you made it a date night, right?
00:02:47Instead of a nice quality movie, you said, we got four pilots here.
00:02:51Yeah, I did. I turned it into a date night.
00:02:54I tried to make it fun. The opening episode, we watch Jessica Simpson.
00:02:58And of course, immediately you get the, I don't know, the encoder or videographer or rippers, you know, tag that he throws in the beginning.
00:03:08And she's like, is this part of a show that we're watching?
00:03:11I'm like, oh no, wait a minute. No, no, no.
00:03:18Oh, God. Remember back when you would download this stuff?
00:03:21I think the encoder was so impressed with their work that like they're the king of piracy.
00:03:27And you need to know that blank blank, put this on the net for you.
00:03:32Yeah. And then they use, I don't know, Windows Movie Maker and they're like, here's what we need.
00:03:37This is a Jessica Simpson pilot. I'm going to get two photos of her with an upskirt shot.
00:03:43We're going to put a rainbow effect on it.
00:03:45Yeah, and then we're going to get Snoop Dogg going.
00:03:47There's some bomb ass and it's like over and over again.
00:03:51It's like this is the introduction to date night.
00:03:56It was it was off to a rocky start to say the least.
00:03:59And man, I could remember some of these like injected with a poison poison.
00:04:04All right. Now here's four minutes of somebody else's backyard wrestling or death matches or bum fights,
00:04:11which is something we're going to have to talk about someday.
00:04:13Oh, if we don't talk about bum fights, we are doing the Internet a disservice.
00:04:18I'm just going to put that out there. Jessica Simpson plays Jessica Sampson.
00:04:22And what is she doing in this pilot?
00:04:25She is essentially brought in to be some sort of correspondent.
00:04:31Think of the Internet as a brain. It's a spider web.
00:04:37They're doing just like a special piece with her.
00:04:39And then it turns into that every guy in the office just becomes smitten with her,
00:04:43of course, because she's Jessica Sampson. Right.
00:04:47And they all have a crush and they give her her job.
00:04:50And she kind of wants to, you know, prove, you know, prove it to herself.
00:04:55But also it's something for her to do.
00:04:57Like her her line was, look, it's a way for me to still talk to my fans, even if I'm not on the road.
00:05:03So that was Jessica Sampson's logic of becoming a news correspondent.
00:05:08Nowadays, there's a thing called social media.
00:05:11Yeah, you wouldn't have to make a job at a news station.
00:05:14So all these people wouldn't have the joy of working with Jessica Sampson.
00:05:18You know, the intro says there's going to be so much more to her.
00:05:38They wouldn't know.
00:05:41No, there really wasn't. There wasn't a lot to her.
00:05:47You know, watching it on a date night, it gave you kind of a different perspective.
00:05:52And it was for me, it's like, oh, well, these jokes are funny.
00:05:55All of her ditzy stuff is funny because that's what you would kind of want to see from her at the time.
00:06:01But the other side of the couch was, gosh, she just seems so stupid.
00:06:06This must be so embarrassing.
00:06:08I'm like, that's kind of the point of the character.
00:06:10That's what you got to kind of try to get behind.
00:06:13Yeah, because that whole time period is newlyweds.
00:06:16Yeah. So like if you're watching Jessica at the time, everything makes sense.
00:06:20This is the same period as chicken or tuna.
00:06:23Yeah. And yeah, I made this mental note.
00:06:25Like there's this part where it's like, all right, she's smoking hot and she doesn't need makeup to be pretty on camera.
00:06:32Well, she's been on a plane for six hours.
00:06:34I mean, she doesn't need anything.
00:06:37I mean, I guess I could. I can't improve on that.
00:06:43But then she's also like, I got to go potty. I got to go potty.
00:06:46It's like, well, where is she mentally?
00:06:48I do really have to go potty. I've been holding it for like an hour.
00:06:51Yeah, it's almost like you're, I don't know, mentally like a third grader, second grader.
00:06:57I don't know, man. So then we have to meet the crew.
00:07:00I think out of all the cast that we watched today, this was probably my favorite ensemble.
00:07:05How about you? I thought it was good.
00:07:07I really liked the the one editor that was just like super, super smitten with her.
00:07:14You know how I said she was a complete airhead. Yeah.
00:07:16Yeah. Big bad. You're dumb. I love her.
00:07:19She's my wife. I like the, see, it's hard for me to recall their names because it's been like two, three days since I watched this.
00:07:25So our main girl was Holly. Holly was the jealous actual news reporter.
00:07:31Okay. The guy who followed her around and was like, you're referring to my future wife.
00:07:37That's Joe. And I kept being like, he's what the Internet would call cuck
00:07:41because there is no wrong that any of these girls can do.
00:07:45But please, please like him. Please pay attention to him.
00:07:48Yep. Then we have our new executive producer who's played by Brian Callen,
00:07:53who's the Brian Miller in the Goldbergs.
00:07:57He's a stand-up comedian and he is the one who offered her the job.
00:08:02I'm Dan Hall, the executive producer. If there is anything I can get you,
00:08:05please let me know. Actually, I could really use a toothbrush.
00:08:08I breast stinks like a cow patty. Tina! It's Amanda. I know. Toothbrush.
00:08:14He's not Bob, right? Because she kept trying to toss it to Bob.
00:08:17He's like, I'm not Bob. No, Bob was a guy named Brett.
00:08:21And he is the news anchor. And boy, he takes the news very serious.
00:08:26He takes himself very serious. You know how I feel about talking to celebrities
00:08:30and movie stars. I've interviewed presidents, heads of state,
00:08:33the greatest thinkers of our time. Standard sitcom cliche,
00:08:37but hot chick, hot chick can call him whatever she wants to call him.
00:08:42Yep. I'm sorry, Brett. I realize this is a complete waste of your talent,
00:08:46but it is our lead story. I could get someone. It's okay.
00:08:48This is one time. Yeah, I thought I thought his character was one of the probably one
00:08:55of the most fun on the show. I thought because he tried to play it so straight
00:09:00and but he just he couldn't resist Jessica Sampson.
00:09:04One of the funniest lines to me was when she's like,
00:09:07I already had two breakfasts as yeah. Can I get you something to eat?
00:09:12No, thanks. I already had two breakfasts on the plane.
00:09:15Did she just say breakfasts? No, there was see,
00:09:20I mean that was the thing with the show was there was you're like,
00:09:23look, I could have totally seen this.
00:09:27I don't know if it doesn't necessarily on like broadcast TV,
00:09:31but I could totally if streaming were a thing back.
00:09:35Then this would totally be one that you could just,
00:09:38you know, sit there for half of a day and watch season one
00:09:42and two and get some good laughs out of it. You know what I mean?
00:09:44Like I was saying it fell into remember what MTV did together the series.
00:09:49Yeah, or you know, it had sort of that sort of TGIF
00:09:53like everyone's at an 11 in their personalities
00:09:56and everything is a joke. And as I researched it,
00:09:59I'm like, oh my God, they actually put a lot of effort into this show.
00:10:03They were writers for like Spin City
00:10:05and Fraser and Third Rock from the Sun really involved to make this thing.
00:10:09They really wanted this thing to work.
00:10:11Well, I mean, of course you would never go into,
00:10:14you know, shooting a pilot hoping man.
00:10:17I really hope nobody, you know, enjoys this.
00:10:20No, I first joke that I'm like, oh, I don't know if this was would go today.
00:10:25The guy who's handling a lapel mic is ready to kill somebody.
00:10:29Yep. When he tries to interrupt, they're like, can you mic her up?
00:10:32He's like. And they're like, hey, can you help us get off back off?
00:10:38I got this. You want me to do it? You get away.
00:10:43I've been I've been waiting for this moment.
00:10:46Now, that was funny. I'm sorry. I just I'll try not to.
00:10:50Okay, I'm used to getting poked with stuff.
00:10:54So how did you feel about our main character Holly?
00:10:58I liked Holly because Holly was the complete opposite of Jessica Sampson.
00:11:03And yes, I'm going to refer to her and her full name this entire show.
00:11:07The the exact opposite of her. They definitely don't get off on the right foot.
00:11:13I really like the advice Jessica Sampson tries to give her to attract guys
00:11:17and that's just to be quiet. Well, I'm articulating a point of view.
00:11:22Yeah, stop. Just let guys talk to you.
00:11:28They're just like this whole like dialogue between them that I actually thought was really funny.
00:11:34You know, you got the brilliant brunette and you got the dumb blonde,
00:11:39which is just like a tradition as old as time, you know, so yeah,
00:11:42they they had a really good back and forth
00:11:44and I thought her character was the perfect, you know antithesis of Jessica Sampson.
00:11:50Yeah, and I think like for a good sitcom,
00:11:54there's always got to be like some character traits that they can continually do as comedy.
00:12:01So it's like for her. What do you know about her?
00:12:03Well, she's terrible at flirting. So that could be a ton of funny situations in the future.
00:12:07If this was picked up. I mean, you know, while we're out there,
00:12:12I didn't know how it's going to turn out, but you had a vision.
00:12:18But what I also kind of found what's happening was have you ever seen like a sitcom
00:12:23where you're supposed to sympathize with the main character,
00:12:26but then when you step back and think about it, you're like they kind of suck
00:12:30or I don't actually think that they deserve whatever is happening on the show.
00:12:34Like how I met your mother. Ted doesn't really deserve a wife.
00:12:38Ted sucks most of the time. He kind of does. I'm not rooting for Ted.
00:12:42And there's a lot of shows like that with Holly for a while.
00:12:45I was like, you know what? Everything that's happening to you right now,
00:12:49Holly, you deserve it. It's your own fault kind of thing, right?
00:12:54So then we have to see Jessica at work
00:12:58and that led to a lot of comedy as she is a on-field reporter.
00:13:03Jeff, what happened? It was just a lot of just like slapstick kind of stuff.
00:13:09Honestly, they sent her out.
00:13:12She's going to discover what the internet is and how it actually works
00:13:15and they have all these like vignettes set up
00:13:18and she's trying to like, you know, crouch down and four-inch heels.
00:13:22And dude, there was just a lot of funny stuff in those,
00:13:26you know, where they would actually, you know, punch it in to your like camcorder,
00:13:31right? Of what's being captured by the film crew
00:13:35and a lot of that stuff there was just like a couple few minutes
00:13:38where it was just funny, just blurbs and jokes
00:13:42and heard falling over just trying to explain to us exactly what the internet is
00:13:49and how it works. I'm Jessica Sampson
00:13:51and I'm talking to people today about the internet, the computer internet.
00:13:56You don't have to say computer. Then how will they know?
00:14:00I mean in 2004, she has the internet specifically on her computer.
00:14:05Yeah, it was a great line in there.
00:14:07It was inside her computer, the internet.
00:14:11Yeah, that was really funny. I got this new computer
00:14:13and you know, it has the internet inside.
00:14:17You do realize the internet is not inside the computer.
00:14:21No, in mine it is. Just her.
00:14:24The other thing I didn't quite understand
00:14:26and I kind of wonder what is the backstory here.
00:14:29Remember what Jessica goes, you know, posing for Maxim is very hard.
00:14:34You don't know what it's like to just be squatting for four hours in heels
00:14:37and then Holly's like, actually I do.
00:14:41Yeah, let's say she's like traumatized and then they just next scene.
00:14:45Have you ever squatted in four inch heels?
00:14:47No, once.
00:14:56I don't want to talk about it.
00:14:59Well, that was a really, you know, funny joke
00:15:01because that was something that I thought they could pay off in like a later episode
00:15:07because clearly this was a time in her life that she is the least proud of
00:15:11and it would be so funny to actually see like a flashback of when it happened
00:15:16because she was probably out in the street,
00:15:18peeing somewhere in the street, not proud of herself.
00:15:21It was a bad night.
00:15:22Like there's a lot of room for good jokes there.
00:15:26You know what I mean?
00:15:27Now what we found is everybody at the station,
00:15:30well, they realized Jessica, you know, her and Holly are just not working well together
00:15:38and Joe asks, hey Holly, if this was another person who wasn't pretty,
00:15:44would you do the same mean girl thing you're doing right now
00:15:47or would you make her look good in editing?
00:15:49You're not giving her a chance.
00:15:51You know, I bet if she wasn't some smoking hot babe,
00:15:54you would just cut all this together and make it work, wouldn't you?
00:15:58I don't know.
00:15:59Maybe.
00:16:01And I know as an editor and Jeff can attest.
00:16:03What do you do?
00:16:05You make them look as great as possible.
00:16:08Damn Skippy.
00:16:09And that's what she does because she is a pro.
00:16:12She actually had a bubbly personality,
00:16:14did well at this report and fine.
00:16:18You know what begrudging respect.
00:16:20I just wanted to tell you that I thought your segment tonight was fun.
00:16:24Fun.
00:16:25All right.
00:16:26Fun's probably as good as it gets for someone who didn't work her ass off to get here.
00:16:29No, no, no, wait.
00:16:32Not not fun.
00:16:34Good.
00:16:36I thought it was good.
00:16:37Now what hijinks do you think they could get into in the future?
00:16:40That's what I was wondering.
00:16:41I was like, there's obviously like right off the bat.
00:16:43You get a dynamic between these two characters
00:16:48and you're like, okay, they could they could get closer.
00:16:51They could fall apart.
00:16:52Maybe, you know, Jessica Sampson,
00:16:55you know accidentally dates a boy that she's interested in
00:16:59and that brings friction between them or Joe
00:17:02because without glasses Joe has beautiful eyes.
00:17:06He does beautiful eyes,
00:17:08but I'm going to remember you as the guy with the pretty eyes.
00:17:11No, really pretty eyes.
00:17:15So he's like because I can't see anything.
00:17:18I thought that was really funny.
00:17:19And I was like, yep, I can attest to that.
00:17:21So could Joe.
00:17:22Oh God, there's so many times where it's like,
00:17:24please don't film me with glasses on.
00:17:26I want to look better.
00:17:28Even though you're not supposed to be vain like that.
00:17:30No, never. The glasses are coming off.
00:17:33If Jessica Sampson's around.
00:17:34Absolutely. Jessica Sampson.
00:17:37And then wait, didn't she say at one point
00:17:39if you can find the clip her boyfriend's name was Rick?
00:17:42Well, I do have a boyfriend Vic.
00:17:45Of course you do.
00:17:47Yes, and I was like, oh, okay.
00:17:50Rick owns a truck and then the news reporters all like,
00:17:53well, I own a Corvette or something like that.
00:17:56And then at the end when they go all hang out as a gang down at the club.
00:18:00Yeah, he shows up like I bought a truck.
00:18:02Yeah, he wants to. Yeah, Bob.
00:18:05He really wanted to impress her.
00:18:07So I was thinking you're new in the area.
00:18:10Maybe you need a ride home. No, thanks, but that's sweet.
00:18:14I'll see you tomorrow. But I got a new truck.
00:18:19Dude, honestly, I would have liked to have seen more episodes
00:18:23of him just trying to change himself to win her over.
00:18:26I thought that was a funny kind of part of the show for me.
00:18:31Anyway, unfortunately ABC passed on this show
00:18:36and it didn't go to series Jessica went back on tour
00:18:40and I think everything worked out fine for her.
00:18:42She not only made tons of money through reality and music,
00:18:46but she also has a huge clothing line, right?
00:18:48So it's all right. So just to be sure all this stuff happened
00:18:53after her reality show with Nick during it during it.
00:18:58Okay, so you got to think why were people just like burnt out on her
00:19:04or they only wanted to see her in a reality show kind of way.
00:19:08They tried to take that character that she played quote unquote
00:19:12on the reality show and bring it into a sitcom form.
00:19:16Did it just not work out because I got to sit here and say out of the four
00:19:20that was probably I think from start to end that may have been
00:19:25my favorite one of the bunch.
00:19:27I'm going to completely agree with you.
00:19:29This actually was my favorite out of all of them.
00:19:31I put this at like an 8 out of 10.
00:19:34Yeah, I thought it was really stupid fun.
00:19:36And my thoughts are is that these pilots they don't go out to the mass public.
00:19:42So it's like this focus group and critics
00:19:44and that's not where Jessica wins people over.
00:19:48No way. I think the Target fan base who like Jessica Simpson at the time
00:19:53and followed what she was doing would have eaten the show up.
00:19:56And then also think how many people watched her reality show that didn't like her
00:20:02but it was kind of like a guilty thing.
00:20:05Like I know a lot of people watch The Bachelor
00:20:09and they'll crap on it non-stop.
00:20:11But every you know, Tuesday Wednesday,
00:20:13whenever it's on their glued to their TV.
00:20:15It's almost like hate watching.
00:20:18That's true.
00:20:19And speaking of The Bachelor spoilers later on.
00:20:23We're going to meet a side character whose love life is so bad
00:20:28that she spent her entire evening alone watching The Bachelor watching The Bachelor
00:20:33and that is our segue into our next episode.
00:20:37Well, yes.
00:20:39Okay, let's go. We're going to talk about in the game.
00:20:43In the game was Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O'Neill.
00:20:47So she plays a character named Riley
00:20:49and she's essentially a producer for ESPN.
00:20:53So she is kind of the just directing the shot setting up the microphones making sure,
00:21:00you know, what is supposed to get said get said
00:21:04and that's how we're first introduced to her.
00:21:06She's kind of backstage talking to this bubblegum ditzy blonde reporter coincidentally.
00:21:13Brandy Brandy right favorite name in the world.
00:21:16Yep, and she has to go in there and talk to LeVar Arrington
00:21:20or actually she's waiting for him to come out,
00:21:23but she kind of has her own motive.
00:21:26She doesn't really want to do what the producer wants her to do
00:21:29and that's a problem for Riley.
00:21:31Of course Riley tell her this is not the view.
00:21:34Just remember how to ask him how he could possibly line up offsides
00:21:37in the last play costing his team the game.
00:21:40I have my questions lined up.
00:21:42I can't hear another softball interview.
00:21:45She wants to find out why LeVar Arrington canceled an interview on her.
00:21:49No, it was why did he line up offsides?
00:21:51Well, he canceled the interview
00:21:53because he doesn't want to talk about why he lined up offsides.
00:21:56Okay, you're right. And what I loved about it was it's so from that time period.
00:22:03So she's like, you know that Mark Bolger does blank and blank
00:22:06when he's trying to signal you could have strip sacked him
00:22:10and I'm like, oh damn Riley.
00:22:12You just gave away Mark Bolger's career.
00:22:14Probably why he fell off after three seasons.
00:22:17No, I was looking at Mark Bolger's hands
00:22:20and I lost where I was at on the field.
00:22:23Next time watch his left knee
00:22:25because he always points it towards the side.
00:22:27He's going to throw it to you.
00:22:28Yeah. Wow.
00:22:31But no, I thought I thought that was so cool
00:22:33because obviously whenever there's you know,
00:22:35a very attractive woman will say that's into sports or pro wrestling.
00:22:42It's such a rare thing.
00:22:43So you're like, wait a minute are two of my like most favorite things
00:22:47in the world like clashing together right now count Jennifer Love Hewitt.
00:22:52Yeah, totally.
00:22:53So it was just like wow, this is cool.
00:22:56And she seemed like a pretty damn cool mom too.
00:22:59Yeah, we do find out that she has a son Michael.
00:23:02Now what I also remember from this time period is when it kicked off.
00:23:06I'm like, oh god, you remember the mornings
00:23:08where all you would do is turn on SportsCenter catch it 45 minutes in
00:23:12and be like, well, I don't know what happened in the first 45 minutes,
00:23:14but it replaced five times.
00:23:16So yeah, all I'm going to hear in the background all day is SportsCenter
00:23:20before they ruined it dadada dadada.
00:23:24And then you have Ed O'Neill's character.
00:23:26Ed O'Neill is brilliant in the show.
00:23:29He's usually great in everything he does dear God.
00:23:32Would somebody please put a bullet in my head?
00:23:36And it's just his his like comedic timing
00:23:39and his mannerisms and his delivery like to me.
00:23:43I was like you could you could see that he was kind of leaps
00:23:47and bounds ahead of even the rest of the cast.
00:23:49I was like dude, he is like perfect for this role
00:23:52and he could really be the he could he kind of be that person
00:23:56that could grab you and say wow the show is actually kind of cool.
00:23:59Yeah, it's like everyone's in there trying to hit the ball
00:24:02and he's just in there like all right.
00:24:04I have to convey that I'm an upset boss.
00:24:07She's interrupting my time and I want her out of here
00:24:10and he just says the line boom home run funniest line happening here.
00:24:15He plays agitated so well.
00:24:16Yeah, obviously, you know from Married with Children or Little Giants.
00:24:19Oh so good.
00:24:20Yeah, and and and there was one he's like I could have retired last year.
00:24:24I could have been I could have been sitting on the island sipping martinis,
00:24:28but instead I'm here with you idiots and it was just it was just good stuff,
00:24:33man.
00:24:33I thought I thought he was a real highlight and and you know,
00:24:37having a guy with a resume like that and then how popular Jennifer Love
00:24:43Hewitt was at the time and then you have the whole like ESPN Sports Center
00:24:47was super popular then like we watched it all the time.
00:24:50I was like Kenny Maine shows up and Stuart Scott is there.
00:24:53It was like this was a recipe for success.
00:24:57Now what I learned watching the show is it had a it jumped off great
00:25:01and then it slowly started to lose everything that it was
00:25:05and then by the end it kind of wasn't even the same show.
00:25:07Is that just me?
00:25:09No, I think you're right because at first I'm like,
00:25:11oh, I like all the sports angle.
00:25:13I like her being like the outsider.
00:25:16I guess you'd say the girl in it.
00:25:18But even then it was like you already know that there is a girl reporter.
00:25:22Ask him about lining up off sides.
00:25:25It's what every fan wants to know.
00:25:26Could you get me a coffee?
00:25:28Yeah, but she's a different type who does bubblegum interviews as they call it
00:25:32and she goes in there and she's all like I want answers.
00:25:35I want to know why you did this incorrectly
00:25:38and it's sweet in there with her cameraman
00:25:41who's a actually an interesting side character
00:25:43because he's kind of like he was pretty funny
00:25:45when he confronts the guy TJ later on.
00:25:47He's like you can't do anything left to me.
00:25:49I don't make good decisions fire me.
00:25:51Don't fire me who cares
00:25:53and he's like back on.
00:25:55You really think it's a good career move to talk to me like that?
00:25:58Yeah, take a look at me bro.
00:26:00You really think I practice any of the seven habits of highly successful people?
00:26:04Really? Then there's another scene
00:26:07where he pops out of the friggin toilet stall out of nowhere.
00:26:10He's giving the thumbs up.
00:26:13She's gonna be awesome.
00:26:16And then when she burst into the locker room to confront LaVar Arrington,
00:26:21she walks by some guy friggin penis.
00:26:23Yep, and she's like then they're like the two of them are joking about it
00:26:27and he's like yo, she's like put a towel on.
00:26:32You know what this is?
00:26:34Yeah, it looks like a penis only smaller.
00:26:37Oh, yeah face baby,
00:26:40but I think this is one of those shows that probably had I think the longest legs
00:26:44like there was so many more stories you could have done in the sports world
00:26:47and her doing ESPN like things.
00:26:51Yeah, and then you think there could have just been endless,
00:26:54you know, guest stars.
00:26:56It could have been personalities from ESPN.
00:26:59It could have been football players, basketball players, you name it.
00:27:02It could have been anybody
00:27:03and they could have kind of brought their own charisma to the show.
00:27:07Yeah, I think you're absolutely right.
00:27:09This one had a lot of legs.
00:27:10It has had a great premise.
00:27:13It just kind of lost itself by the end of the episode
00:27:16and it made me like think this isn't the show that I thought it would be
00:27:20or what it started out to be.
00:27:22Unless being in the game means you're in the game sports,
00:27:26but you're in the game of learning what it's like to be a single mom.
00:27:30Yeah, which is kind of what like the second act happens
00:27:33because once she confronts LaVar Arrington,
00:27:36the rant goes live.
00:27:38She's 04 viral.
00:27:40And it was awesome.
00:27:41And her son sees it and then it cuts back to the house
00:27:45and she you start seeing who she is.
00:27:48She loves sports so much.
00:27:49She's dressed like a referee in her spare time.
00:27:53And then you meet the son who I didn't think was a good actor at all.
00:27:56I don't want to he wasn't that great.
00:27:58No, but I think the actress that stole that that whole scene was probably her roommate
00:28:05because she was just so miserable and desperate
00:28:10and I just I think you know for a lot of people
00:28:14they could really get behind that and say,
00:28:16you know what I definitely feel like that.
00:28:18Sometimes I relate with this character.
00:28:21I thought I thought there was so much more she could have done as well.
00:28:24How was your date last night?
00:28:26It was amazing.
00:28:27He brought me flowers.
00:28:28Then he took me to this sweet little Bistro
00:28:30and then it ended with a carriage ride in the park.
00:28:34Really? No, that was an episode of The Bachelor.
00:28:36And we find out she's Michael's teacher.
00:28:39Yeah, so that's got to be tough.
00:28:40Like your kids teacher the kid like has to go home and be like,
00:28:43crap my teachers there because my mom's best friend.
00:28:46Yeah, so she had a bad dating life.
00:28:49And as we mentioned earlier, she had a date that evening,
00:28:53but the date didn't go well and by like 20 minutes in she spent the rest of the night alone watching The Bachelor.
00:29:00Yep, as she certainly did another instance of this joke probably wouldn't play today.
00:29:07Do you remember what was said about the type of people the best friend tried to meet out on the dating scene?
00:29:14Yeah, there was a there was some sort of joke about about how he ended up being a she or something like that.
00:29:21But then she got excited again when he thought that he called.
00:29:25I don't know if I'm using the right pronouns here or whatever.
00:29:28But she said well, I've tried the dating scene.
00:29:32I did the cooking classes to meet people.
00:29:35But all I met were five gay guys three soon-to-be gay guys two lesbians
00:29:42and one that got very handsy named Chad named Chad.
00:29:46I tried the what's cooking good-looking cooking class the getting to I do before he knows it extension course.
00:29:53You must have met someone. Yeah, eight gay guys five soon-to-be gay guys and a handsy lesbian named Chad.
00:30:00And then and then she goes wait, she called that was dude.
00:30:05That was hella funny. I like that. I thought that was good good comedy.
00:30:09You know, you had a message from a Chad she called.
00:30:14Did you catch Kenny Maine doing his Kenny Maine style comedy?
00:30:17He comes out and he's like, well, I'm working on a story about he hate me.
00:30:23Yep. Anyways, you see my he hate me story and a lot of people are talking to me.
00:30:26I heard Kenny. Can we be honest pretty much just you were talking to me and then he's like and then to he just went to Philadelphia.
00:30:34What could to become you don't remember? I don't remember the punchline to could become Amish.
00:30:41Oh, yeah. Okay. Yep. I mean Terrell Owens is with the Eagles.
00:30:44So he lives in Pennsylvania. So now he's Amish and his name is ye hate thee.
00:30:51What do you think you know how long that would take him to get his popcorn ready a long time.
00:30:57So then we meet Riley's co-worker TJ.
00:31:01Can you tell us a little about TJ TJ is kind of he's kind of like a scummy reporter.
00:31:08He thinks he's a ladies man. We don't know if he actually is or not.
00:31:13We just know that when Riley pretended to come on to him that he went with it.
00:31:19So fast and she was like that was way too easy and then she does it again.
00:31:24Yeah, then a third time. Yeah, she's like, I can't believe you fell for my sexy talk and I was kind of like.
00:31:31Why don't we say your apartment bottle of wine?
00:31:36I'll go down and out see if you can go long.
00:31:40How does that sound sounds like I need to cancel my other plans for this evening.
00:31:46You are way too easy. Yeah, I probably would have to but it was it was great
00:31:52because she did it to him and he needed to be kind of taken down a notch
00:31:56and that that right there could have been a cool,
00:32:00you know back and forth throughout the series her kind of like checking his ego at the door.
00:32:06You know what I mean? Right? Do you think there's any romantic chemistry
00:32:10because they tried to play it up like maybe he could be maybe he has a chance at some point
00:32:15if he changed a little or do you just think he's I don't know.
00:32:19I want to be ladies man. I think he's a wanna be a redhead.
00:32:23Yeah, I think he's a wannabe ladies man for sure,
00:32:27but that's not to say that some sort of romance could you know down the line just mistakenly happen
00:32:35between the two of them and neither of them can believe it
00:32:38and that would have been good TV like there was a lot of good seeds planted in this pilot
00:32:44where you're like, oh I could I could have seen it go in this direction
00:32:47or these two characters could have went in that direction.
00:32:49But unfortunately, I'll never know you'll never know nobody will ever know
00:32:55because this is a pilot that never got off the ground the game got canceled.
00:32:59So then we get to more football talk and Riley has to beg for her job back
00:33:06and she confronts Al Bundy in the bathroom
00:33:09and all he wants to do is go to the bathroom and get his business done read his big ends.
00:33:15Yeah, and she's like no you gotta understand.
00:33:19I love football and I don't care what Brandy's saying.
00:33:23And what does he say that Brandy was trying to do Brandy had been trying to get her fired
00:33:28for a long time not just since she she like,
00:33:31you know came on as an anchor but trying to get her fired for a long time.
00:33:35Why would I fire you because Brandy asked you to fire me?
00:33:38She's been asking me to fire you ever since you started with her never liked you ever.
00:33:42Well, no never and because of that Riley is convinced
00:33:47that fine. I'll take a role as an on-camera anchor
00:33:51or a reporter because that rant everybody realized the angry girl.
00:33:57That's who they want, right?
00:33:58Yeah, it was great because it was probably what a lot of fans were thinking,
00:34:03you know at the time but then of course Brandy tries to tell her,
00:34:07you know what she should do
00:34:09and then just plants these weird seeds in her head.
00:34:12Like hey, what are you going to do with your hands?
00:34:15And so she starts to overthink what she's going to do with her hands
00:34:18and there's a lot of funny comedy there with her and Tom Brady.
00:34:21I felt so bad for Riley because I'm like,
00:34:25oh god, that's exactly what happens like you don't want to see the outtakes on some of the stuff
00:34:29for when you're recording in front of the camera
00:34:31because then you're like, what am I doing this for or hey man?
00:34:35Oh, yeah, there's there's so many things
00:34:37and then she gets sent to hair and makeup
00:34:40and then it turns out Brandy was in on it
00:34:42and had the hair and makeup team do this horrendous look to her on purpose
00:34:48where she has on this like terrible,
00:34:51I don't know like a business like skirt suit
00:34:55and she has this huge beeline hair.
00:34:57She looks like she's a power broker.
00:34:58Yeah, and not the girl that busted into the locker room
00:35:02and won the hearts of America.
00:35:08This is the tough girl.
00:35:10What the hell they do to you?
00:35:12You look like an astronaut's wife.
00:35:15You said to go to hair and makeup.
00:35:16This is hair and makeup attention.
00:35:18Somebody call extreme makeover.
00:35:19There's been a horrible accident.
00:35:21Nah, man, she's just a slob
00:35:23and you mentioned a cameo from Tom freaking Brady
00:35:27and he really actually doesn't do that much does he?
00:35:31No, I think he may have said like four or five words.
00:35:34That was it.
00:35:35I think he was in two different scenes
00:35:36because if I remember correctly,
00:35:38he ends up going to Riley's son's school for show-and-tell.
00:35:44I used to go to all the practices.
00:35:47Tom, I'm not gonna cry Tom.
00:35:48I am not gonna cry.
00:35:50I am.
00:35:52Right?
00:35:53Yes, as we have like this subplot of Riley's son has to do like a school report
00:35:58and the other classmates have a firefighter speaking.
00:36:02So he's like, oh, that's not cool.
00:36:03I'm just talking about a rock.
00:36:05So he doesn't want to do it
00:36:07and the teacher even rats him out
00:36:10because there's a scene at a restaurant
00:36:12where she's celebrating her new job with a child
00:36:15and this poor guy comes up hitting on her
00:36:17and he's actually pretty chill
00:36:19and the son's like, no, get lost.
00:36:22Get lost.
00:36:22We're eating.
00:36:24I will say between the, you know, mother and son dynamic,
00:36:30which I didn't love
00:36:32but in the very end of it
00:36:34when he kicks out Tom Brady
00:36:37and brings his mom in to, you know, show her off to the class
00:36:41because she's his real hero.
00:36:44If you can't get behind that like there's something wrong with you.
00:36:47So I thought that was very heartwarming.
00:36:49You just, aww.
00:36:51Yeah, that was the big aww.
00:36:53The reason I want to do this job is because I love football.
00:36:56Ever since watching with my father or grandfather something like that.
00:37:00Yep.
00:37:00When did you start liking football?
00:37:03Well, when I was four.
00:37:06My dad, your grandpa, was a football coach.
00:37:09And then it's like, okay,
00:37:10because every once in a while they brought it back to football.
00:37:12Like the little kid earlier.
00:37:13It goes.
00:37:14Oh, they suck like the Jets.
00:37:16Yep.
00:37:17Quitters? Quitters.
00:37:18Wait, you mean like the Jets?
00:37:24Yep, exactly like the Jets.
00:37:27And I'm like, oh, bruh.
00:37:29Yeah, because it's like screw the Jets.
00:37:32I mean, there's most years where they suck like the Jets doesn't get dated.
00:37:36So finally, we get this part where Tom Brady is the practice interview
00:37:40because TJ used his connections to set up this interview
00:37:43because he wants to look like a good guy.
00:37:46He also allows himself to be interviewed.
00:37:48Before the football players showed up,
00:37:50he was going to be the one interviewed by Riley's son.
00:37:53Yep.
00:37:54And then during this, what happens?
00:37:57Poor Riley gets in her own head.
00:37:59And Tom Brady is even like, cross your legs.
00:38:02Tom Brady is trying to give her advice on how to interview him
00:38:07and he's the practice subject.
00:38:09So she's like leaning in and doing these weird things with her hands
00:38:13and she's like got her legs wide open or not crossed the right way.
00:38:18When you go into the no huddle.
00:38:20Cut, Riley, cross your legs.
00:38:22You're a lady, not a lumberjack.
00:38:26Cut, legs crossed.
00:38:28You're doing that one.
00:38:31Very awkward body language for sure.
00:38:35And Tom's trying to kind of help coach her through it.
00:38:38Did you find it a little weird?
00:38:40Like just how it would work in the real world.
00:38:44In 2004, Tom's already got two Super Bowls.
00:38:47Right.
00:38:48Would he really sit through somebody's practice interview?
00:38:52No, not unless he was like great friends with Ed O'Neill's character, right?
00:38:59What was his name again?
00:39:00Yeah, Buzz.
00:39:03His name was Buzz.
00:39:04Of course it was.
00:39:05So maybe they were like great pals from college.
00:39:10I don't know.
00:39:11Well, we did find out that Buzz did try out for the Steelers
00:39:15and fear kept him from trying again the next year when he was cut.
00:39:18Yeah, because the first year it was his knee.
00:39:20So we kind of chalked it up.
00:39:22Yeah, you know, I could have had my run in the pros,
00:39:24but my knees gave out, which is the common story.
00:39:27And then you find out he's like, no, I was too scared
00:39:30because the next year I was 100% healed, but I didn't go back.
00:39:34I was afraid.
00:39:35And that was the lesson he was trying to teach Riley
00:39:38throughout this process and throughout this pilot.
00:39:41As opposed to the other lesson where he goes,
00:39:44are you guys smoking the crack?
00:39:46Are you smoking the crack?
00:39:49Which I think was probably the best line from the episode
00:39:52because it was just like, wow,
00:39:55somebody was trying to be edgy at that time period.
00:39:57Yeah.
00:39:58Overall, I thought In The Game was pretty solid.
00:40:02And I actually think this one probably had the longest legs
00:40:04if it went to a series.
00:40:05It was promising.
00:40:06It had a lot of promise.
00:40:08Again, the tough part for me was the show wasn't what it presented itself
00:40:13as in the beginning, which is fine because it can be a broader dynamic
00:40:18than just one thing.
00:40:19So I would have liked to have seen where this show would have gone.
00:40:23And if I would have originally caught the first pilot,
00:40:26I probably would have been so enthralled with all the like behind-the-scenes
00:40:30broadcasting and ESPN stuff that I would have been,
00:40:33okay, this is something that I kind of want to watch.
00:40:36At the time period, ESPN guys were the coolest.
00:40:39And when she blows up and yells at everybody like,
00:40:42will you let me take a phone call from my son?
00:40:44I'm tired of being dolled up.
00:40:45You're getting on my nerves.
00:40:47I can't do anything right.
00:40:47I'm like, sounds like Chris Berman ranting right now.
00:40:51Yeah, you people have been busting my ass all morning.
00:40:55And God forbid, I actually take one break to talk to my six-year-old son
00:41:00who calls me every day after lunch just to check in.
00:41:04And you know what?
00:41:04Maybe that's not what professional reporters do,
00:41:07but that is what this one is going to do because my son always comes first.
00:41:13When I'm doing TV and I got 18, goddammit.
00:41:16Can't everybody stop for 10 minutes?
00:41:18I mean, everybody seems that that's the only, everybody can we stick, Jesus Christ.
00:41:22So I think in the game, it reminds me of those sitcoms that like,
00:41:27I don't remember laughing at all during this episode,
00:41:29but I was very amused all the way through.
00:41:32Yeah, there wasn't, I mean, there was,
00:41:34I think there was one line that I randomly busted out like a,
00:41:37you know, like laughing hard.
00:41:40It was, hey, thanks for bringing him to school
00:41:45in the morning.
00:41:46She's like, well, I'm his teacher and that like I just didn't see that coming.
00:41:51So I like busted out laughing hard on that one.
00:41:54But yeah, I definitely agree with you.
00:41:57There was a lot of just amusement where after you watched it,
00:42:00you were kind of like that was fun.
00:42:03I could watch six of these in a row and probably not remember anything that specific.
00:42:07Yeah, but I wouldn't be mad that I watched six in a row
00:42:10because it's all about the way it left you feeling after the fact, right?
00:42:16Exactly. Now, I can't say the same for our next show,
00:42:21Foster Hall with Macaulay Culkin.
00:42:23Whoo!
00:42:27Man.
00:42:28So I hope those warm feelings lasted because when we get to Foster Hall,
00:42:33well, it wasn't so warm and cozy, was it?
00:42:36I'm growing up, Clark. I'm becoming normal.
00:42:40I'm a wife and a homeowner. Next up, Metapause.
00:42:45Right, but not like this. Not at all.
00:42:50Okay, there isn't a song that you have in your back pocket that you can bust out to embarrass Chrissy.
00:42:56I don't have one to embarrass Alicia.
00:43:01I don't know, man. To me, it was just like,
00:43:04it was almost kind of raunchy for the sake of being raunchy.
00:43:08Yes, it's like every, it felt like one of those Fox sitcoms from the time period,
00:43:13and it was like, we want to bust each other's chops like that 70s show.
00:43:16But at the heart of that 70s show, or Scrubs,
00:43:19or any show where people insult each other, or even My Name Is Earl,
00:43:22there's a heart to it. And at the end of the day, you're like, well,
00:43:26they're still friends. They're still family. They still do nice things for each other.
00:43:30Foster Hall, Peggy and Clark Hall are terrible.
00:43:34Terrible human beings.
00:43:37And I really, really wanted to like this one because it's like,
00:43:40yeah, there's Macaulay Culkin in a sitcom.
00:43:44This is Richie Rich. It's freaking Kevin McCallister.
00:43:48It's the kid from Uncle Buck. I know, dude, I went into this one with the highest hopes.
00:43:54I wanted to be angry in the end. Like, are you kidding me?
00:43:59Why would some network not pick up this show?
00:44:02This is a great idea. Great premise. It's Macaulay Culkin's in the show.
00:44:06This is going to be a big comeback for him.
00:44:08But literally like 10 minutes in, I was like, dude, I can see why this was not picked up.
00:44:14Like, they're like, no, we don't need episode two. No, thank you.
00:44:18Goodbye. It felt like when you walk in on two people arguing
00:44:23and you're so uncomfortable and you're like, you suck.
00:44:27And I understand you're part of the argument, but you're wrong.
00:44:30Yeah, she's wrong. This guy is an idiot. Everyone here is awful.
00:44:35I want to leave. Yeah, it was.
00:44:38I mean, there were some parts in it to where I would laugh,
00:44:42but I think it was because I can't even if you I think he was some like Russian guy
00:44:47that was sitting on the couch during the party.
00:44:49I thought he kind of stole that that whole scene.
00:44:53Action figure. Well, it's a whole lot of action that day.
00:45:00Action figures. Yes, the Italian guy,
00:45:05because the whole point of the party, as we find out,
00:45:08is busy Phillips character Peggy, who was in prison, by the way.
00:45:14Yes. So you're like, who's the worst one?
00:45:16Well, I guess the prison one, but Jesus,
00:45:19maybe this guy just avoided it out of luck and not because he's a better dude.
00:45:25Yeah. So she wants to get her old job back at a restaurant,
00:45:28which I mean, unless she was making a ton of money,
00:45:31that's not really high lofty goals, is it?
00:45:35No, it's not. And so who was Foster and who was Hall?
00:45:40And why can I never remember the name of the show?
00:45:43So Foster Hall is Peggy and Clark Hall.
00:45:49Okay. Okay. They're foster children as we find out through this credit.
00:45:52Okay, right. And initially they dropped off at the steps of an orphanage
00:45:58with a bunch of nuns. In the spring of 1979,
00:46:01twin infants Peggy and Clark Hall were found on the steps of St.
00:46:04Margaret's of Scotland Orphanage. At the age of four,
00:46:08the twins were placed in the foster care of a childless couple.
00:46:11Then you find out, well, when they were four,
00:46:13they got sent off to their first home.
00:46:15And then these people send them right back because they can't deal with them.
00:46:19No. And they're like these poor children.
00:46:22And then they show this clip and like Peggy as a little girl is beating her stepmother
00:46:28with a two by four. Over the next 12 years,
00:46:30seven more families would fall in love with the spirited children.
00:46:34She was. And then we find out,
00:46:38well, seven other orphanages tried to, seven other foster parents tried.
00:46:45So yeah, what like are they demon children?
00:46:48What are they? Did you kind of get that feeling?
00:46:51Like these are, I don't know,
00:46:52they're going to reveal like they're the children of the devil or.
00:46:55Dude, I don't know.
00:46:56They just seemed like they were impossible.
00:47:00I just I don't know. I really wanted to like it.
00:47:03But the whole time I was like these characters kind of suck.
00:47:06They're kind of and you can bleep this. They're kind of people.
00:47:11It's it's kind of. I don't know.
00:47:14It's children. They're pretty because yeah,
00:47:16and after he beat her with a two by four, they push down.
00:47:20They push down some furniture down a flight of stairs and it's like,
00:47:23why did they get rid of them? I don't know.
00:47:25Maybe people don't like their furniture code flying down the steps.
00:47:28Yeah, I couldn't I couldn't I couldn't get in get into this one.
00:47:32I watched it all the way through of course,
00:47:36but I would just so bummed out. I was so disappointed
00:47:40and I've even seen that girl in other stuff
00:47:43and she's like a like a decent actress.
00:47:45So I don't know if it was just what's that Cougar town Cougar town.
00:47:50Okay, so I don't know if it's just it was just bad writing
00:47:53or bad execution,
00:47:55but it seemed like it was crude just for the sake of being crude
00:47:58and raunchy for the same reasons or for the wrong reasons.
00:48:02Yeah, it recently dawned on me that I've wasted the better part of my life.
00:48:05Do you know what I've wasted it on promiscuous sex?
00:48:08It was it was almost meant to try to just offend you to try to get a reaction,
00:48:15but it was like all the attempts kind of came up short
00:48:18and you were kind of left with a bad taste.
00:48:20It was the bad kind of offensive because it's like if the joke's funny,
00:48:23you can always just be like, yo, it's a joke.
00:48:26It's exactly get get sense of humor with this one.
00:48:28You kind of like so we start off the show
00:48:34and you find out the sister is slutty
00:48:38and the brother is kind of a pervert.
00:48:40They're arresting him. He's butt-ass naked.
00:48:43Yep, and she's sleeping with her psychiatrist
00:48:46and now they're married at the age of 23.
00:48:48Peg was ordered to undergo mandatory therapy with Dr.
00:48:51Jack Cafferty. Their professional relationship took an unexpected turn.
00:48:56Six months later, Jack and Peg married.
00:49:01But then you're like, all right, so we just introduced a third guy in this
00:49:04and we already know that he's skeezy totally doesn't treat his job serious
00:49:11and it's just as bad as the rest of them just with a little bit more white collarness to him.
00:49:17His name is Jack. I don't know the characters kind of sucked the premise did like
00:49:22I didn't really even understand what was happening.
00:49:24I would have rather of the psychiatrist not had been involved
00:49:29and it could have just been to you know,
00:49:32like a brother and a sister
00:49:34and they're in their 20s and they're all about practical jokes.
00:49:39They could have each had their own lives,
00:49:41you know, maybe they lived in the same town.
00:49:43Maybe they didn't but when they got together for the holidays,
00:49:45they always like to play practical jokes on each other and maybe one went too far
00:49:50that would have made more sense rather than Sandwiching them to with with the psychiatrist
00:49:56and then she's trying to get a job back.
00:49:58But then it's like she is she is she and him don't get along
00:50:02but he also lives with Clark lives with them.
00:50:06Yeah, and then it's like, all right,
00:50:08so she's basically trying to turn her life around
00:50:11but then you find out all right, she has to go see her parole officer
00:50:15and what's she been arrested for?
00:50:17Well, she sold bootleg cosmetics.
00:50:18Okay, that's funny.
00:50:20Oh, and she also stole dogs.
00:50:22That's I don't like her as much two days after you bought that house.
00:50:26You're arrested for selling stolen cosmetics.
00:50:30Actually, that was the last time this time it was for stealing a puppy.
00:50:37Terry so then we meet the parole lady and what do we find out about her?
00:50:44Well, we find out that she's been sleeping with Macaulay Culkin.
00:50:49God, you're just like your brother, you know, my brother.
00:50:54Okay, he he never mentioned me.
00:50:56Why though like that was a whole point.
00:50:59I was trying to figure out is why she's smitten with this guy for no reason for no reason.
00:51:06I don't I don't understand.
00:51:08I kind of I don't know man.
00:51:10I left watching the show kind of just like scratching my head.
00:51:14Like what the hell just happened?
00:51:16So you said your girlfriend really like this one the best out of the bunch.
00:51:20Yeah, she did and I was blown the hell away
00:51:22because she's she loves kind of you know,
00:51:25like dry sense of humor and just kind of like,
00:51:29you know kind of jokes that go there.
00:51:33But to me they all kind of like the joke about rough sex in their household
00:51:37and that she was slapping her husband.
00:51:41Oh, no, I enjoyed it.
00:51:42I've never had just released from prison sex.
00:51:46If you want I could violate my parole.
00:51:48We could have it again in a couple years.
00:51:50I think I'd rather have you home.
00:51:52I think I don't know she she was she was into the show.
00:51:56I go. I think I didn't I think this is the one that I don't really care for she goes.
00:52:00Well, this is the one that I like the best which is us to a tee no matter what it is.
00:52:05It's always the opposite side of the spectrum,
00:52:09but maybe if this show had a monkey in it,
00:52:11if it did it would have been awesome.
00:52:13It really would have been awesome.
00:52:14But to me, it's like all the humor tried to go there,
00:52:17but it all fell flat what set the siblings off in this episode.
00:52:23We cut in as the newly engaged couple who finally gets a chance to be normal unpack.
00:52:30Yeah, she looks over and she's like, hey that box is open.
00:52:33What was Clark doing in this household?
00:52:36Yeah, well Clark came in and I don't even remember the dude's name,
00:52:40but lied to him and said he was trying to find something to send to her or whatever,
00:52:46but essentially he stole a picture that she had stashed for blackmail,
00:52:51which was him sitting on the toilet playing with dolls and I was like shit figures right
00:52:56and I thought well, that's kind of funny,
00:52:59you know, but the way that it was drawn up and brought up
00:53:03and brought out it was kind of like I don't know all this stuff.
00:53:08I don't know if it's going over my head or if it's not just hitting the mark.
00:53:13Now the one thing that I was like, oh boy, this is not hitting the mark
00:53:18and it's I don't even know how it made it on the air back then
00:53:22if they were trying to get on the air when he goes how was prison did they rape you?
00:53:29Right? Yeah.
00:53:30I mean just throwing out jokes about rape.
00:53:33Obviously you can't really and often obviously you can't look back at the you know,
00:53:37any time frame and try to hold it to whatever standards people have in their minds in 2021,
00:53:44but it was like even for then it's like I said,
00:53:49that's just not funny. Just do something funny.
00:53:52I don't know man. So I wasn't they rape you?
00:53:59So then we find out from that point is that well,
00:54:03she had a picture to blackmail him with he had a video of her making out with an ugly dude at a party.
00:54:10Yeah, and I thought that was really weird. So I'm like, all right.
00:54:13Yeah, that's bad. But who is that embarrassing other than her
00:54:17because the husband seems fine with it and then I'm thinking wait, he's recording this.
00:54:22Yeah, he recorded his sister making out these are really messed up siblings.
00:54:27I don't like them at all. No, I don't either.
00:54:30They were just weird. They just they definitely gave you incest vibes just
00:54:36for the fact that he would sit there with a camcorder
00:54:38and just film her making out with some dude.
00:54:41I don't know and then we find out like all right to get her job back.
00:54:44She wants a housewarming party, but Clark can't come.
00:54:48No and Clark's like well, I'm a carpenter or wait.
00:54:53What was he? He's a crappenter.
00:54:55He and he misspelled carpenter wrong on the card.
00:54:59So says crappenter. What?
00:55:04Says Clark Hall expert crappenter. Yeah, very funny.
00:55:12And then we find out he had some other jobs one of them including shooting porn.
00:55:18It's happened my energy sure. It's not the long hours hold up in your apartment watching porn.
00:55:23I think you're old enough to know I don't just watch.
00:55:27Yeah, that was weird man. And it was a lot of these jokes.
00:55:31They were kind of just like slid in nonchalantly as in like hey,
00:55:35if you get it you you know, you're cool,
00:55:38but it was like it's just missing the mark for me
00:55:41and then it's like all right. Well, my sister's a slut.
00:55:44Yeah. Well, you only have one ball from a carpentry accident.
00:55:49It's like what did I walk into it?
00:55:53Yeah, I don't know man. It's like very uncomfortable.
00:55:56Yeah, FYI slut. I work construction for two summers
00:56:00and did a lot more than hang sheetrock. Yeah, you punctured your scrotum with a nail gun.
00:56:05Yeah, it was like watching it was it was definitely uncomfortable.
00:56:09Maybe that's what they were going for and for the you know,
00:56:12kind of people that are into that kind of thing.
00:56:14That's the kind of thing those kind of people are into right?
00:56:17I hope so. Well, you know the boss is like hey,
00:56:22how come you never called me to tell me where you were in the last year
00:56:26and she's faking it like I was in Ireland
00:56:30and the party well goes off with some complications.
00:56:35The parole officer shows up
00:56:37and the parole officer notices Clark's at the party.
00:56:41Yep. So she's smitten with him.
00:56:43I will say about the party doubling back to the Italian guy
00:56:48or whatever you said he was I thought he was really funny
00:56:53and then I will say a positive thing about this show believe it or not.
00:56:57Okay. So how they built up the picture they built up the video.
00:57:03They built up the song right that he had written about his sister.
00:57:08They had all this blackmail that they used back
00:57:10and forth and then the big you know,
00:57:13crescendo at the end of the episode was it all came out like all bets were off.
00:57:19The gloves came off
00:57:20and they just went at it in the middle of the party in front of everybody.
00:57:24But of course Clark bust out the song
00:57:27and he winds up winning in the end.
00:57:32Fatty clown to pull her panties down kiss all the boys
00:57:38and down and pick a piggy nose.
00:57:43Peggy slutty slut loves it.
00:57:47When you smack her butt on the names like filthy mutts
00:57:52and beat her with the hose.
00:57:56But I didn't understand is at this party.
00:57:58All right. So so far you got some of Jack's old friends some people from the restaurant.
00:58:04This isn't a high school like are any of these back
00:58:07and forth Barb's doing anything other than hurting each other.
00:58:10Yeah, like oh, he never lost his virginity.
00:58:14She lost it at 12. Well, she made out with an ugly guy.
00:58:17Well, he plays with extra figures on the toilet.
00:58:20Here's a random song and if I was at that party,
00:58:22but what is this random song to like right weird guy as well.
00:58:27Yeah, it's a I don't know man. It just a lot of the humor missed the mark.
00:58:31The one positive thing I can say about it is that it all kind of tied together in the end.
00:58:37I didn't really care to see any character development
00:58:41so I can totally understand why a network would have passed on it.
00:58:44I think the only character development was that at the end after they attacked each other.
00:58:49The therapist husband is like well,
00:58:52You guys are both wrong because you feel like she's going to leave you behind
00:58:57and you want to drag him down to your level
00:59:00and yeah, you guys need each other and then they turn around.
00:59:03They're like and they team up on him. They're like you're a pedophile.
00:59:08Let's see. It was like those kind of jokes just for the sake of those kind of jokes.
00:59:13Like it wasn't a big enough set up for where that style of humor can pay off.
00:59:18They were kind of just tossed out there randomly.
00:59:22Kanzi and now you gang up on me the common enemy.
00:59:25You try to eliminate anything that threatens your unique albeit unusual relationship.
00:59:30Oh Clark. Do you hear something?
00:59:33Yeah, it kind of sounds like an unlicensed sexual predator trying to shrink ahead boy.
00:59:37What would you give this out a tad because I said this is a four
00:59:41and yeah, like they were trying there was a lot of jokes thrown out there
00:59:46and at times it's like well, I mean it's Macaulay still right.
00:59:51I was dude. I was I was rooting for it.
00:59:54I had the highest hopes for this show out of all the four that I that you had me watch that night,
01:00:00but I was probably the most disappointed by this one.
01:00:02So I'd probably say I'd give it around a four as well.
01:00:06All right. It's pulling a sufficient last place.
01:00:08Can our favorite Bobcat Bubsy make his animated debut and win us over.
01:00:15Tell us a little about Bubsy the Bobcat Bobsy.
01:00:18No. Oh, come on, you know, I'm your hero.
01:00:24Well Bubsy it's Bubsy is an interesting story
01:00:27because I remember I bought his game for my Super Nintendo
01:00:31and you were like nah, do you trust me? You probably don't want to get this game.
01:00:34It's not very good like dude. I think I probably said what could possibly go wrong.
01:00:39I'm just going to enjoy it. I did it like Sonic.
01:00:43Yeah, it looks like this is the answer to Sonic.
01:00:47It's the answer to Mario. It's you know, it's that kind of thing
01:00:51and in theory Bubsy is a cool character.
01:00:54I really like off the bat of the show were introduced to him.
01:00:57It had a had a dude it had a kick in theme song to open it up
01:01:01and they were pushing that what could go wrong tagline down your throat,
01:01:04which I think it was said eight times.
01:01:07Yeah, and that well that's kind of the point
01:01:09because and that's even the episode title.
01:01:11Yeah, and then kids would go to school.
01:01:13Hopefully what could possibly go right, you know,
01:01:15like that was the whole thing about it.
01:01:17Come on, but you'll be right back.
01:01:19What could possibly go wrong?
01:01:22I like the theme song. I like the intro.
01:01:24I loved Bubsy's voice.
01:01:26I thought the the voice work on the show was awesome.
01:01:30Like it was amazing. It was really well done.
01:01:32Yeah, did you see the credits because no I didn't Paulson the great voice actor
01:01:38who's done Raphael done and a maniacs like,
01:01:42you know, Rob Paulson. He's the voice of Bubsy,
01:01:45but then at the end I'm like man all these voices are so familiar
01:01:49because you have Jim Cummings who's like the voice of freaking every Disney character.
01:01:56Yeah, because I'm like, why do I hear Pete from freaking goof troop?
01:02:01And then you have Tress McNeil who's like every female voice from that time period
01:02:05then you have Pat Fraley.
01:02:07And this is guy that Pat Fraley voices kind of a little brain creature.
01:02:13What's his name? Crang? Crang.
01:02:17Dude, that's all right.
01:02:18So one of the one of the other voices on there
01:02:23and characters that kind of won me over was the big vulture
01:02:27and his voice his accent and it was it was he thought it was so royal
01:02:31and like I thought I thought that was awesome.
01:02:34And then well the I noticed I'd made the notices at the the buzzard the buzzard.
01:02:39Sorry the vulture. Yeah buzzer.
01:02:40Well, yeah, it's a well. He's not a turkey as one of the jokes in this show.
01:02:45They kept calling him a turkey and that was really funny.
01:02:48I liked his niece and nephew the armadillo,
01:02:53which is his like roommate was like the punching bag.
01:02:56That was great. But Jim back. I think they were going for like a Jim back is
01:03:01Thurston Howell type voice imitation for that buzzard.
01:03:05So the whole time I'm like, oh, this is great.
01:03:07It's kind of got that sort of Gilligan's Island.
01:03:09He's but he's uppity like yeah, he's he's the smart sidekick,
01:03:13even though he's really stupid. Do we perhaps have something in our mouth?
01:03:22I didn't think so. Fine. Yeah,
01:03:25and the rat was great. I thought it was so fun. Armadillo.
01:03:29Yeah, and well, no, the what? Oh, the rat the buzzard.
01:03:34Yeah, and he just he was just so hungry all the time.
01:03:37That's all he can really think about and they had so many like good jokes
01:03:40about how well like while they were fooling him.
01:03:44You're you're so stupid. Your brain is so small because of your incredibly small brain.
01:03:50You have been chosen to receive a free banquet dinner for 50 and like
01:03:59I thought that was so funny dude. I like I watch this.
01:04:01I'm like, yo, Bubsy is kind of dope. Like I'm into this.
01:04:06So our cartoon starts off as you said with a kickin theme song
01:04:10and Bubsy wakes up and Bubsy does everything.
01:04:12I noticed in extremely fast doesn't say for a moment time.
01:04:17Yeah, the mention on his shirt pretty much is who Bubsy is.
01:04:21He's just like breakfast. Yeah, shoot up brush my teeth
01:04:24and then you go to Bubsy's house and Bubsy has a basketball court.
01:04:29Bubsy has his own bowling alley.
01:04:32And I think Bubsy in this was a lot like Darkwing Duck where he's so full of himself.
01:04:39Like he truly believes the greatness that is Bubsy that Bubsy can do anything
01:04:44and everyone else around him is like Bubsy.
01:04:48Bubsy. Oh, please. Do we have to go through this every single morning?
01:04:53I don't want to be your sidekick. Yeah. Yeah, I know.
01:04:56I know you don't feel worthy. Hey that happens when people are around me.
01:04:59Like the armadillo's on his couch and he's just like hey armadillo.
01:05:04Who's the best guy in the world? Bubsy, right?
01:05:09So what was the quirk that his armadillo sidekick had?
01:05:14He was it seemed like he was just always getting hurt
01:05:17whether it was from you know, Bubsy's niece and nephew.
01:05:20I thought they were great. He's always worried about getting run over by a truck
01:05:26because you see on the news all the armadillo's it's like a epidemic.
01:05:32They're all getting run over and he like armadillo has PTSD.
01:05:36Oh, he does. Yeah.
01:05:39And last year over 10,000 armadillo's were run over by trucks in the state of Texas alone.
01:05:45For many of the poor little fellows, this is the last sound they will ever hear.
01:05:51Oh, oh, big truck.
01:05:55It was just it was just funny like like right off the bat all these different characters had their quirks
01:06:01and you were just I don't know like I think off the bat.
01:06:04I was just in invested in them because so quickly it was like,
01:06:10okay, I understand what they are what what they're about what their quirks are just so easily.
01:06:19Yep, because then you're like, all right, well Bubsy can't be alone.
01:06:22So you got this put upon sidekick and then you meet his niece
01:06:26and nephew who are those precocious. Hey, let's come over
01:06:29and Uncle Bubsy's going to entertain us
01:06:32and then we're going to get in all kinds of trouble
01:06:33and Bubsy's going to have to figure it out.
01:06:35Yep, then of like every single one of these commercial-based cartoons,
01:06:42you need a scientist who comes up with inventions that he thinks are going to help the world.
01:06:46But what do they do? They hurt the world.
01:06:49They hurt everybody in and around them.
01:06:51And and that was the whole premises of this first one.
01:06:56It was me to find somebody nuts enough to even try my new invention
01:07:00and Bubsy sees it on TV. All I need now is someone extremely brave to test the helmet.
01:07:06You said you needed someone totally nuts.
01:07:09Hey, that's me. I'm totally nuts.
01:07:12And he's like enough. I'm brave enough.
01:07:15I'm Bubsy everything he does is just like you said with an exclamation mark everything.
01:07:21He does everything he says everywhere.
01:07:24He moves every mannerism everything
01:07:27and that was that was the whole first episode is the mad scientist.
01:07:32I think he was some sort of big rat or something.
01:07:35Well, we had two we had the the scientist who at first I was like,
01:07:39oh is he going to be our Baxter Stockman?
01:07:41But then he just turns into one of the crew. His name was Virgil, right?
01:07:45It does not matter what your name is the only requirement for testing the virtual reality helmet is bravery.
01:07:52He means you have to be totally nuts.
01:07:54Well, hey, I can handle it on both counts guys.
01:07:57And then Virgil has an assistant and this girl's like,
01:08:01oh Bob Z, but she never gets his name, right?
01:08:04No, she's she's she's calling him like Bob Z.
01:08:08She's calling me as she's calling him boozy boobsy and the butt in the very end.
01:08:14She finally gets his name right and then they'd fall in love right?
01:08:17Welcome. I am Virgil reality and you must be Bootsy.
01:08:21That's funky Bob Z. Oh, yeah.
01:08:24Well, I think she falls in love with him.
01:08:27So of course she would. He's Bob Z. This invention.
01:08:31It has this grand ideas that when you put it on there what you dream
01:08:35and imagine will come true in like a virtual reality type space.
01:08:40You just have to blink twice. So I don't know why this had to be made.
01:08:45But of course when you have this great of invention other people are going to want this.
01:08:51So we meet Allie the cat. Oh gosh.
01:08:55Who's an overweight tabby and she was so extra.
01:08:59She really was and I think she followed like it's a mixture of you remember a robotnik
01:09:06in the Sonic cartoon how he had two robot sidekicks he bossed around.
01:09:11Yep, or even your basic your shredder like oh you do my bidding
01:09:16because I want to conquer but I'm not going to get off my ass to do anything.
01:09:20She had to kind of always feel important.
01:09:22So she sends out this buzzard and a rat type creature to go get this device and steal it away.
01:09:32Now get ready. We're going to dive bomb them.
01:09:35But what happens Bob Z's niece and nephew end up getting a hold of the thing
01:09:40and getting outside and envisioning some sort of like roller coaster
01:09:48and and then the doesn't seem kind of irresponsible to like
01:09:52but they're like oh Bob Z's here to test out the device.
01:09:55Let's go inside and then once they let it out of their sight.
01:09:58Whatever they just steal it. Yeah, they steal it.
01:10:01They envision some sort of coaster the buzzard
01:10:05and the rat are like flying in and they're swooping down trying to take it
01:10:09and then they do and then everybody's envisioning all these different things
01:10:13and you can tell it's a cartoon because when they swoop down don't they like crash
01:10:18and they explode and you're like so they're dead.
01:10:21No, no, not at all. Not on this cartoon.
01:10:24No, this cartoon only just has Bob Z making jokes that he's about to crap himself.
01:10:31Oh, I gotta lay off those breakfast burritos.
01:10:34Bob Z was great. And again, I loved his voice.
01:10:37I loved how he was just so outgoing
01:10:42and I'm just like watching this. I'm like this can teach introvert
01:10:47and I'm going to get deep this can teach in in,
01:10:50you know introverted kids that it's okay to be a little outgoing.
01:10:54It's okay to have a little Bubsy in you.
01:10:57Come on Arnold. Let's be heroes and save the day a little outgoing.
01:11:06He said his catchphrase four times in seven minutes
01:11:09and I wrote down here in my notes Bubsy never shuts the F up dude.
01:11:14He keeps talking but it's his show.
01:11:17So it makes it makes perfect sense to me.
01:11:19I love the the big coaster thing
01:11:22and then everybody's putting on the helmet envisioning something else
01:11:25and then Bubsy he calls he calls the rat
01:11:30and very easily convinces him to give him the address
01:11:35because he promises him like a five-course meal that he's going to deliver.
01:11:39So he gives him the address to where they have the helmet stolen
01:11:42and hidden and he shows up with his whole crew
01:11:45and then a whole other like just side of antics breaks out.
01:11:50I was writing down. I'm like, all right,
01:11:52how does Bubsy afford a bowling alley in his household
01:11:56and like massive ceiling he can play basketball on his court inside.
01:12:01Oh, he's got a catering business.
01:12:04Of course. Yeah, I'll bring you all the food right now.
01:12:08Just give me your address. Thank you very much.
01:12:13Your brain is indeed very very small.
01:12:15Of course. Yeah,
01:12:17and how stupid do your bad guys have to be that even Bubsy just straight up goes to the camera.
01:12:22Wow, they're really stupid. They're not smart.
01:12:25I'm like Bubsy just legit just called you out.
01:12:28Yeah, it was awesome.
01:12:29It was awesome, but Bubsy had a lot of charisma.
01:12:33He had a lot of spunk. He had a lot of I don't know what I'm actually capable of
01:12:39like he seemed like he was always surprising himself,
01:12:42but then in the end he would tell you that he's not surprised about it because he's Bubsy.
01:12:47Well, you know why Bubsy had all the confidence in the world.
01:12:50Every time he taught he could speak in cliches
01:12:53and then stock black and white footage would start playing.
01:12:56Yeah, I was going to ask you about these cutaways.
01:13:00Was this part of like the encoder guy that was trying to take credit
01:13:05or was this actually how the show aired
01:13:07because you see it the first couple times you're like that doesn't fit.
01:13:10What the hell is that? And then it starts happening over and over again.
01:13:14You're like, well, this is just a cork of Bubsy.
01:13:16But why? You gotta live on the edge.
01:13:20You gotta go for the gusto. You gotta be a hero for crying out loud.
01:13:30Because either the animators didn't want to animate
01:13:32or Bubsy is so cliche that you know,
01:13:35people around him start imagining stock footage.
01:13:39Yeah, I wish I had that power. Now.
01:13:41The other thing I noticed about Bubsy is besides what could possibly go wrong.
01:13:46You notice he kept talking about humbling his opponent.
01:13:49And all I could think of was the Iron Sheik and I'm like,
01:13:52Sam, I hope he's not doing the other part of that.
01:13:55Now, hand that helmet over before I'm forced to humble you.
01:13:59I don't think so. Okay, that wasn't supposed to be so funny
01:14:04because Iron Sheik wasn't doing that stuff at the time.
01:14:07He was a punk. I can't break his back.
01:14:11Break his back, make him humble and then fuck his ass.
01:14:15But I just kept laughing so hard.
01:14:18It's like, why is Bubsy so hell-bent on humbling people?
01:14:22And what exactly does he mean by that? Maybe we can find out.
01:14:26I don't want to find out. Bubsy's not wearing any pants
01:14:29and neither was the shrew or the buzzard.
01:14:31It was a shrew, by the way. Shrew, okay.
01:14:34Because at the end, they kept pointing out,
01:14:37we're not a turkey and a rat. We're a buzzard and a shrew.
01:14:42And then, well, they're able to recover this device
01:14:45after a kind of a back-and-forth where it's like Alley Cat has it
01:14:50and now she's envisioning being on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
01:14:53Yeah, which was an awesome bit.
01:14:55This week on Lifestyles of the Rich and Furry,
01:14:58we travel to beautiful Las Vegas,
01:15:01nighty-night spot of the classic, La Cassandra.
01:15:04You know, the shrew's like, oh, well, I could use it to imagine food
01:15:08because that's the only thing about the shrew that we know.
01:15:11Sounds like he's really stupid. Yeah.
01:15:14And then Bubsy, I think, makes some sort of crack about Elvis.
01:15:18I think he did, yeah.
01:15:25And I'm like, oh, god, another thing about Elvis?
01:15:28Is he going to call the Is Elvis Dead hotline?
01:15:30Oh, gosh. So honestly, at the end of the day,
01:15:35I kind of really enjoyed this.
01:15:38It was probably something I would have watched when it aired in 1994.
01:15:43Well, thank you. Now, I think it's just, I think it's been too much now.
01:15:46Like, it would just give you a headache after a certain point.
01:15:49Well, because we're adults now. You want it loud and stupid.
01:15:52Yeah, but when you're kids, you think we watch DuckTales,
01:15:55we watch Sonic, we watch Super Mario, like all that stuff.
01:16:00And I'm looking at this now as an adult and I'm like,
01:16:04dude, this holds up to all those. Like this was, I thought it was super good.
01:16:09I don't know if it holds up to some of those,
01:16:11but there's so much garbage cartoons or ones that you know,
01:16:15you watch the time period that you're not, you went in love with, but hey, it was on.
01:16:19Right. I think this isn't any worse than the rest of them.
01:16:23In fact, out of all the things we watched today,
01:16:26this was the one that gave me the legit laugh.
01:16:28Yeah. And it was at the very end where Bubsy,
01:16:32playing the hero, decides this thing is about to blow up.
01:16:35I'm the only one who can handle the device now that it's overloaded.
01:16:39I'm going to put it on my head and then it explodes.
01:16:42But Bubsy's fine. He's conquered the machine.
01:16:45And then they put it back on there again and it starts like jolting him.
01:16:49Yeah, he's getting electrocuted. They're like, oh, what's that doing now?
01:16:52Oh, it's electrocuting him.
01:16:57Yeah, it was funny, man.
01:16:59But the thought of our next adventure already has me tingling with excitement.
01:17:05No, I think they have it shorted out. You're probably just being electrocuted.
01:17:09I knew that. I was just testing you, babe.
01:17:11And that was the one part I laughed at. So 6.5 out of 10 for Bubsy.
01:17:17My pick's Jessica. I honestly think that was my favorite of the bunch.
01:17:21It was, Jessica was good. It was like surprisingly good.
01:17:27Bubsy for me, because he gets crapped on so much because the games aren't that great
01:17:33and people just like on his character and I don't really get why.
01:17:37Like if I could own a Bubsy shirt right now, I would buy it and I would wear it.
01:17:44I really like the cartoon.
01:17:48So I'm going to give it a tie between Jessica and Bubsy for the sake of the Bubster.
01:17:54Oh, wow. And if they put that on network TV or even Cartoon Network, you know what they'd say?
01:18:01What could possibly go wrong?
01:18:03Come on, snap to him, Mr. Basket Case. It's me, the prince of personality, Bubsy!
01:18:10Which is, it was so funny because I'm like, as an adult now, I find myself thinking that all the time.
01:18:18No matter what decision I'm making, it's like, all right, well, what could possibly go wrong?
01:18:23So this won't be the only time we talk pilots.
01:18:25In fact, I have another four or five lined up and there's some interesting stuff.
01:18:32Now, before we go, I have to ask your girlfriend, and she's sitting there watching regular sitcoms.
01:18:40How did she feel about the Bubster?
01:18:44She kind of zoned out, honestly.
01:18:46She zoned out on Bubsy, which I was kind of disappointed in, I'll be honest.
01:18:53That's it, you're breaking up.
01:18:54Yeah, it was it was at that point, it's like, hey, like, are you not into like this is the last one.
01:18:59She's like, oh, no, it's fine.
01:19:01But I don't know that she was ever like a cartoon watcher as a kid or I don't I don't know.
01:19:09And she had no idea who the hell Bubsy was, to be honest.
01:19:13She knows Mario.
01:19:14That's it.
01:19:15You know what I mean?
01:19:16So, yeah, she wasn't into Bubsy.
01:19:20She didn't really get it.
01:19:22But for some reason, she just liked the Foster and Hall.
01:19:25I don't understand why. Foster Hall.
01:19:28They're not Foster and Hall.
01:19:29They're not a brother and sister. They're not Hall and Oates.
01:19:32They're foster children whose last name were Hall. Foster and Hall, the band.
01:19:37It's a band. Private Eyes are not going to be watching that show.
01:19:40No. Well, today was a road down TV pilot memory lane.
01:19:46And honestly, I don't think any of the four are like you're going to cry at night wondering why they never had another episode.
01:19:55But at least Jessica in the game deserved it.
01:19:58I looked it up and I saw that the comedies that they put in place on ABC that season that weren't those two,
01:20:05they weren't good and they didn't last. Savages and I don't know some other show.
01:20:10What the hell was it called?
01:20:12No, so they were having like they had like a really bad batch of shows that they were trying to pick from
