00:01Most people sit for their SPM examination once and are done with it.
00:08Subhash Abdullah, however, has taken it at least seven times since 2018.
00:15No, he doesn't keep failing.
00:17In fact, the 54-year-old has consistently scored straight A's.
00:24Subhash, a tuition teacher and founder of Pusat Tuition Ledakan Creative,
00:28is driven by a simple mission.
00:32First thing is, I would like to motivate the kids.
00:35Don't be afraid of taking science stream.
00:38Even art stream students, I would tell them to take the subjects that is quite challenging,
00:43which is economic.
00:46And for those who are religion-based, I also took Tassawo Islam.
00:51You see, that means the whole thing is there, the whole package is there.
00:54You can be from any background.
00:57You can still score.
00:59So that is what I motivate.
01:02His strategy is paying off.
01:04Students, one hesitant to choose the science stream,
01:07have been inspired to give it a shot after seeing their teachers succeed in subjects they feared to tackle.
01:13Secondly, it's actually to give a kind of support for those who are taking private, privately, private candidate,
01:22and they come here.
01:24I register them together with me.
01:26I go and sit, five or six of us, we sit together.
01:31Some of them, when they're not that good, they'll have their reluctance to finish it.
01:37They'll just walk off.
01:38But when I am there, the spirit is there, the support is there.
01:43So whenever there is paper one and paper two, there will be a break.
01:47You know, that is where I will, when I will, I will really push them.
01:52For Subhash, sitting for the exams comes with the usual experiences,
01:56including late night study sessions and nervous anticipation before results are released.
02:02And yet, he plans to sit for SPM again, driven by the joy of watching his students improve.
02:14It's very exciting because I've never seen any teacher taking SPM together with us.
02:20So this is something different and it encourages us to do our exams without being scared.
02:29So it makes us more confident.
02:32He's not so strict, but when he needs to, he will be very strict.
02:36But he's very funny.
02:38He talks to you like a friend.
02:43Indeed, Subhash is making a difference one student at a time.
02:48Take your student as your own child.
02:51Okay, love them and take care of them because the country's future is actually in their hands.
02:57Okay, so no matter they are weak or they are good at their studies.
03:03Okay, the basic education they should have.
03:06Okay, giving them a moral support, giving them a push, doing extra classes will really help.
03:12So my advice to teachers is please don't give up.
03:16Some teachers have the tendency to just walk off from the class after seeing the class is naughty.
03:22You know, normally the last classes, the back classes, you see.
03:27So it shouldn't happen because these are the fillers sometimes will be our leaders.
03:32You never know.
03:33Yeah.
03:34Okay, so love them more.
03:36Okay, take care of them more.
03:38Hivya Ragu and Sheila Vajin, FMT.
