00:00it is not a good track record uh for players coming back and being the same player a lot of

00:04guys well not a lot uh most come back and they continue to play they might even start for a

00:12number of years uh but none of them really get back to their ceiling i think the way we framed

00:16it yesterday was tatum right now perennial first team all nba guy is he ever going to make first

00:22team all nba again i mean i think the safe wager would be no that doesn't mean he won't that's not

00:27a guarantee that he won't but i think the safe bet based on the track record of his injury is he was

00:32a perennial consensus top five guy year in and year out the safe bet is he'll never be that again

00:38uh i think the mvp dream of tatum being the face of the league and being the mvp that's gone that's

00:44done and the celtics can still compete for championships he can still come back and be

00:49i think certainly an all-star player probably an all nba kind of player but first team mvp candidate

00:55face of the league that sort of thing i think with an injury like this that's done yeah and there's

01:00already there's so much talent in the league and you see guys like lebron and durant and curry like

01:05they're still all nba players but i think we've bumped them all down they're not in the top five

01:09anymore because tatum was one of those guys and so when you have yokich who is still like younger

01:15than he looks and younger than you think and like sga edwards some of these other guys that are

01:20going to be on the come up even one by ama cooper flag for god's sakes like when you're talking about

01:24you know the next time tatum plays cooper flag will be going into his second year when by ama

01:28will be going to his fourth year so you're right they can he can still be really good he can still

01:32be a perennial all-star he and jalen brown i think could both still be top 20 players in the league

01:39right i think when he comes back i truly believe that and then that becomes a different conversation

01:44like if they're still a really good team and like a playoff contender or a championship contender i

01:49mean the face of the league conversation is probably still in there somewhere because i

01:54never thought he was going to be mvp pre achilles injury agreed i thought and that's not even an

01:59insult i just i thought all right there's no shame in being the fourth or fifth best player in the nba

02:04year in and year out and that was sort of where he fit in he was like an automatic first team all nba

02:09guy but not really in the mvp conversation so can he get to can he get back to that i think so
