Glenn Grothman Rails Against Raising Of State, Local Taxes As Homestretch Of ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Nears

During House floor remarks last week, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) spoke of his disapproval for the raising of state and local taxes.

00:02Well, we're on the final couple week home stretch with regard to our big, beautiful bill.

00:08And there are going to be a lot of debates as to what we should do.

00:10Some people actually want to expand programs, which in our current crisis is unbelievable for Republicans to do.

00:17But I'm going to address which tax cuts we have.

00:19You know, different tax cuts do different things.

00:21We have tax credits to encourage manufacturing.

00:24We have tax credits to encourage more work.

00:27We have tax credits to encourage more research.

00:30We have tax cuts to encourage more children.

00:32But there are some people who want tax cuts to encourage state and local governments to spend more money and raise taxes.

00:39When I was home over the weekend, I talked to one of my county executives.

00:43He says, Glenn, don't let it happen.

00:44He's a conservative county exec, and he's trying to hold down the spending on a county level.

00:49And here are the people in Washington that are talking about encouraging more state and local taxes.

00:56Please, friends, stand up and fight.

00:59Do not encourage our state and local governments to raise taxes.
