00:00Mr. Speaker, every day I hear about this big story about how we're making big tax cuts for the rich.
00:09Let's be abundantly clear once again today that the current tax rate on the wealthiest Americans is 37%,
00:17and under the new law, we'll be passing soon enough, we'll stay at 37%.
00:24The people who will get the true tax cuts in this bill are people who have earned Social Security,
00:29people who have earned tips, and have earned overtime pay.
00:33That is the clear message we need to make clear.
00:35That is 37% now, and it will be in the future.
00:38We are not, quote, cutting taxes for the rich.
00:41We are looking out for the folks that make America work every day,
00:44who have been hardest hit in the last four years by high inflation and failed government policies.
00:50And with that, Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
00:52The gentleman yields for what purposes the gentleman from New York seek recognition.
