"Long Road Ahead" is the third episode of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: Season One, serving as the third episode of the series overall.[3] It was written by Sean Vanaman and directed by Eric Parsons.[3]
Plot Summary
The episode begins a week after the events of "Starved For Help". The survivors have been using the Travelier Motel for shelter and conducting supply runs.[3] Lee and Kenny are on a supply run in Macon, where they encounter a screaming woman surrounded by walkers.[1] [3] A tough decision arises: shoot the woman to end her suffering or leave her alive as a distraction to allow Lee and Kenny more time to collect supplies from a nearby drugstore.[1] [3] Depending on this choice, the amount of time available to scavenge for supplies in the pharmacy section of the drugstore varies.[1] [3] After collecting supplies, Lee and Kenny must escape the drugstore as walkers breach the entrance, involving quick time events (QTEs) and barricading a door with a refrigerator.[1] [3]
Returning to the Motor Inn, Lee and Kenny brief Lilly on the supply run.[1] [3] The amount of supplies retrieved impacts Lilly's reaction.[3] An argument ensues between Lilly and Kenny regarding the group's future, with Kenny advocating to leave the motel due to dwindling resources and Lilly expressing concerns about a traitor stealing medicine supplies.[1] [3] Lilly reveals she found a broken flashlight discarded, which she believes is evidence of someone sneaking out supplies.[3] Lee can choose to agree to help investigate or not, but he will still look for clues.[1] [3] With or without Duck's help, Lee investigates the broken flashlight and stolen supplies.[1] [3] He finds broken glass matching the flashlight, a pink chalk 'X' on a wall, and eventually discovers a hidden stash of opiates in a grate outside the motel walls.[1] [3]
Before Lilly can confront the group about the findings, armed bandits attack the Motor Inn, holding the survivors hostage in retaliation for not receiving a drug shipment.[1] [3] Lilly orders Lee to create a distraction while she gets into a sniping position.[1] [3] Lee attempts to talk to the bandits, but Lilly shoots one of them, leading to a firefight.[1] [3] The survivors scramble to escape to the RV.[1] [3] Lee, potentially aided by Carley or Doug (depending on a previous choice), fends off bandits and walkers.[1] [3] Katjaa and Duck are attacked by a walker, injuring Katjaa.[3] Kenny struggles to start the RV, eventually succeeding and smashing through the wall to escape with the group, potentially leaving Lilly behind depending on Lee's actions.[1] [3]
Hours later, while on the road in the RV, tensions remain high.[3] Lilly accuses someone within the RV of being responsible for the bandit attack, based on Lee's findings.[3] Depending on who was saved in "A New Day", Lilly may accuse Ben or Carley.[3] A heated argument escalates, leading to a confrontation on the side of the road.[1] [3] During this argument, a gunshot occurs, resu

00:30You want to talk?
00:33Uh-huh.
00:34You understand what happened?
00:36Yes.
00:38Okay. What are you thinking about?
00:41What Chuck said.
00:42What Chuck say?
00:43That what happened to Duck would happen to me.
00:46The fuck he did?
00:48Swear.
00:49Sorry. I'm gonna go chuck some sense into him.
00:52Don't be mad.
00:52Hey.
01:00How you doing?
01:07Don't talk to my girl. Just stay away from her.
01:10Excuse me, son?
01:12I heard you told her she was gonna die.
01:14That she was gonna end up like Duck.
01:15Why'd you go and do that?
01:17Cause she is.
01:19I don't know much about you folks.
01:21But I can tell you as sure as the sun's gonna come up tomorrow
01:24that y'all keep going on like this
01:26and that girl ain't gonna make it.
01:28What do you know?
01:30I know that you don't have a goddamn plan.
01:32We get to Savannah and then what?
01:39I'll figure it out.
01:40Well, get to figuring.
01:42Cause it'll be on top of us before you know it.
01:44Look, sit down with the girl and hash it out.
01:47Find a map for Christ's sake.
01:49I'd give you one if I had it.
01:51And if something were to happen to you...
01:53It won't.
01:55If it were, you gotta prepare the girl.
01:58Teach her to use a weapon and for crime and he cut that hair.
02:02She's a little girl.
02:07And she'll die a little girl if you treat her like one.
02:10You gotta consider her a living person.
02:13That's it.
02:14You're either living or you're not.
02:16You ain't little.
02:17You ain't a girl.
02:17You ain't a boy.
02:18You ain't strong or smart.
02:21You're alive.
02:23Look at her hair.
02:23You gotta runnin' around with a mop that's gonna act like velcro to any hand swingin' its way.
02:29Find some scissors in my pack and take care of that hair before a walker does it for you.
02:35And then show her how to use a gun.
02:37Because like it or not, that's what saves your life from here on out.
02:42I don't mean to tell you how to do your job.
02:45But too many people have died already.
02:47They have.
02:49And seeing another little girl die might just do me in.
02:53I hear you.
02:54A plant, a haircut, and a gun.
02:56It's good advice.
02:58It's something.
03:05Be safe up here.
03:06You betcha.
03:07Mind if I could buy you for a second, kitty?
03:25Can you just leave me alone?
03:29You mind if I look in there for a second?
03:32I really wish you'd just leave me alone.
03:34It's full of maps and documents.
03:41Get out of here.
03:43It's full of maps and documents.
03:48What's your problem?
03:51Mind if I could buy you for a second, kitty?
03:53Can you just leave me alone?
03:57Mind if I look in there for a second?
03:59I really wish you'd just leave me alone.
04:04Hey, man.
04:13You and me?
04:14We, uh...
04:15Oh, fuck it.
04:16Let's just get to the ocean.
04:22Are there any maps up here?
04:24I don't know.
04:24I just, uh, want to look over one with Clem, so she has a lay of the land once we get to Savannah?
04:36Get out of here.
04:41What's your problem?
04:43Mind if I could buy you for a second, kitty?
04:45Can you just leave me alone?
04:51I was lucky enough to get it working once.
04:54Hey, Ben.
05:07Hey.
05:11Carly didn't have to die, you know.
05:14She would have killed me instead.
05:17Yeah, maybe.
05:20See ya.
05:21The door to the boxcar.
05:35I hope we're not on this train much longer.
05:46It's a fifth of whiskey.
05:48Yeah.
05:51He's lived here a while.
06:06They look clean enough.
06:15Hey, Clem.
06:16Did you talk to him?
06:17I did.
06:18He had some, uh, he explained himself and made some good points.
06:23Look, we're not gonna let anything bad happen to you, but there are some precautions we have to take.
06:29Okay.
06:30Yeah, that makes sense.
06:32Don't worry, sweetheart.
06:34Okay.
06:35What should we do?
06:37Well, we're gonna figure out a plan for when we get to Savannah.
06:40Teach you how to protect yourself and, uh, tidy up a little, so you can't get grabbed so easily.
06:45I'd like that.
06:48Good.
06:52What do you think about Chuck?
06:53I don't know.
06:55Me neither.
06:56He might be an okay guy, though.
06:57You think?
06:58We'll keep an open mind about him.
07:00He's probably had it pretty rough.
07:02You need to know how to protect yourself.
07:12Like hiding or running away?
07:14Got it.
07:16I mean, with one of these.
07:18First, don't be afraid of it.
07:20It's just a thing.
07:21Take it.
07:22But know where your finger is all the time.
07:24And don't put it on the trigger unless you want to hurt somebody.
07:27Okay.
07:28Okay.
07:30See?
07:30It's not scary.
07:31It's heavy.
07:33You'll get stronger.
07:34To aim, you look right down the top, through that notch.
07:37Line up the sight at the end with your target.
07:42Is there anything else I should know?
07:47I know these are just bottles.
07:50But you have to aim for the head.
07:52I know.
07:53Only the head.
07:54Unless it's not a walker and it's someone trying to hurt you.
07:57And then?
07:58Head or body.
08:00Anywhere.
08:01I don't want to think about that.
08:02You're right.
08:03It might be a lot for your first day.
08:06You ready?
08:07Yeah.
08:08I'm ready.
08:16Good.
08:17Don't lock your elbows.
08:18Okay.
08:19Let's take your first shot.
08:21Squeeze the trigger smoothly and I'll cover your ears.
08:24Nice and easy.
08:26Nice and easy.
08:28You okay?
08:30My hands hurt.
08:31I don't like this.
08:33Let's stick with it, okay?
08:34Do I have to?
08:37Yeah.
08:37You do.
08:42Close.
08:44Now keep it steady.
08:48Okay.
08:48A little higher.
08:53Bit to the right.
08:57Aim a little higher.
09:01Steady now.
09:03Almost got it.
09:07Aim lower.
09:10I got it.
09:11Excellent.
09:12Good shot.
09:13Okay.
09:13Okay.
09:13Aim a little bit more to the left.
09:33A little bit lower.
09:37Aim more to the right.
09:39Steady now.
09:42I almost got it.
09:45There you go.
09:47Nice.
09:47I did it.
09:59I did it.
10:01Yeah, you did.
10:02Good job.
10:03I just pretended they were Walker heads.
10:06Good.
10:07Just like you should.
10:08They're not Walkers, though.
10:10No.
10:11Far from it.
10:12But you know how these things work now.
10:14We'll graduate you to Walkers one day.
10:16Okay.
10:17I feel good.
10:18Not so scary, huh?
10:20Nuh-uh.
10:40Hey, Ben.
10:42Hey.
10:42See ya.
10:47Yeah.
10:58You mind if I look in there for a second?
11:00I really wish you'd just leave me alone.
11:06Hey.
11:07Yeah.
11:07You still want to get a vote?
11:15It's still the best plan.
11:16Ken.
11:17It's the best plan.
11:24Get out of here.
11:27What's your problem?
11:28What's your problem?
11:28I wanted to talk to you about keeping my past from y'all.
11:38Doesn't matter a lick to me.
11:40Fuck.
11:41Just gotta move forward.
11:42I found this if you want it.
11:59Damn.
12:01Didn't realize I had it left.
12:05Want a nip?
12:09Nah.
12:09I'm fine.
12:10Suits yourself.
12:11Anybody in there want to share a drink, you don't know.
12:23Will do.
12:26I've found those scissors in your pack.
12:28Oh, good.
12:30Get to snippet.
12:35Be safe up here.
12:36You betcha.
12:37I'm glad if I could buy you for a second, Kenny.
12:49Can you just leave me alone?
12:56Chuck wanted to know if you needed a drink.
13:00He's got some?
13:01Yeah.
13:02Ugh.
13:08Yeah.
13:09That'd help.
13:22Thanks.
13:22Hey, Ben.
13:34Hey.
13:36See you.
13:38Yeah.
13:42It was me.
13:44Huh?
13:46I was the one giving the bandits supplies.
13:49What?
13:52It's all my fault.
14:06I could kill you.
14:08I... I...
14:09Nobody can see us.
14:11I could toss you over right now and be done with it.
14:13No! I...
14:14Please, please!
14:15Why shouldn't I?
14:16They said they had my friend.
14:18I didn't know what to do.
14:19Please, please!
14:22I had to tell someone.
14:29I bet you did.
14:30Hey, Clint.
14:55Hi.
14:59So you're probably not gonna like this.
15:02Oh, no.
15:03What happened?
15:05Nothing.
15:05We have to talk about your hair.
15:07It's not safe.
15:09That's not nice.
15:11What?
15:12Are you saying it smells?
15:14No.
15:15Cause it does.
15:17Kinda.
15:19Do you remember when Andy St. John grabbed it and I got mad?
15:23Yeah.
15:24Well, that could happen again.
15:26And if it's a walker, well...
15:28We need to trim it.
15:30Just a trim, right?
15:32I need to cut it short enough so that it can't get grabbed.
15:35You know, we don't have to do this right away.
15:44Okay.
15:45Good.
15:54Hey, Clint.
15:56Hi.
15:56Hi.
15:56I want to talk about Savannah.
16:01Me too.
16:02And what we're gonna do when we get there.
16:04We don't know what to expect.
16:06The city could be bad or totally under control.
16:10The thing is, you and I, we're a team, you know?
16:13And a team needs a plan.
16:15Aside from everyone else, when this train stops, you and I should know exactly what we're doing.
16:20A plan.
16:21I like it.
16:22Good.
16:30We should go our own way when we get there.
16:33Our crew is falling apart.
16:34You and I are stronger alone.
16:36What about the boat?
16:38What about Ben?
16:39He'll be fine.
16:40Okay.
16:41Can we at least look for my parents when we get there?
16:45Before we go?
16:48They're dead.
16:49Have to move on.
16:51You're not dead.
16:52Do you want them to be?
16:58We need to separate from the group and we'll look for the parents first.
17:04Come here, huh?
17:10I'm sorry.
17:11Don't cry.
17:14If we don't find them, we can go.
17:16But if we do, they come with us.
17:18Okay.
17:21That's the plan.
17:22Looks like we'll come right through town if there's nothing on the tracks to hold us up.
17:26And unless Savannah is somehow walker-free, we know we want to stay out of town.
17:30Are we going to have to live in the woods?
17:33You don't like the woods.
17:34I don't like the woods.
17:36Well, what I think we should do after we look for your mom and dad is head north, keeping water, the ocean on our right side.
17:44So we can't get surprised by walkers.
17:47Exactly.
17:47I like the beach.
17:49Good.
17:50Now we've got a good chunk of Savannah here.
17:53What do you think?
17:54They always stay in the same place when they go there.
17:57It's, uh...
17:58Hey, don't worry.
18:00We'll figure it out.
18:02Have you ever been there?
18:03Once.
18:03Well, think about it.
18:05A lot of hotels on here, but read this map and maybe it'll jog your memory.
18:10They've got really tasty desserts.
18:12It's called the...
18:14M...
18:14M...
18:15Something...
18:16Marr.
18:17Is this it?
18:18The Marsh House?
18:19Yes, that's it!
18:20So we'll head there.
18:22Yes!
18:23You think we have a good plan?
18:24I think it's very good.
18:27Can I tell my parents?
18:30You know...
18:31Sure.
18:38Go ahead.
18:47Hey, Clint.
18:48Hi.
18:57And if we do this then?
18:59I guess not.
19:00Don't mope.
19:02It's a good thing.
19:09Do you know how to do this?
19:15Yeah, of course.
19:17I don't believe you.
19:19Well, good.
19:20Good?
19:22Means you know when someone's lying to you, which is another valuable survival scale.
19:26So you did kill someone before.
19:32Yeah.
19:33I'm glad you finally told me.
19:36Me too.
19:38You've killed lots of things now.
19:40It doesn't even matter.
19:41You're right.
19:52Before all of this, I was sent to jail, you know?
19:55Did people ever go to jail when they shouldn't?
19:58All the time.
19:59All the time.
20:00Okay.
20:01I think I'm about done.
20:02I can probably tie these pieces back with something.
20:05Here.
20:06I have some hair thingies.
20:07You do?
20:09Yeah.
20:09Lily gave them to me for sleeping.
20:13There.
20:14All set.
20:15Does it look dumb?
20:23No.
20:24You look cute.
20:25And a lot harder to grab.
20:36All right.
20:38How do you feel?
20:40Good.
20:41Better.
20:42I'm glad we have a plan.
20:43And you're a good little shot.
20:46Thanks.
20:47I guess we should see how far...
20:48Oh, shit!
20:49Hold on, everybody!
20:50Everybody!
21:13Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!
21:27Maybe we could walk?
21:29That's fucking stupid, Ben.
21:31I'm just saying.
21:33Hmm.
21:34I don't know.
21:35I ain't got much experience with y'all's fortitude, but we could probably deal with
21:40that.
21:40We got a goddamn train.
21:43That thing's not full of milk, Charles.
21:45That's gas or diesel.
21:47Something that's gonna explode.
21:49You gotta get a hold of yourself.
21:52This a crew here.
21:53This ain't shit.
21:57This?
21:58Yo!
21:58You keep screaming like that and you're gonna get your face chewed off.
22:01Are you guys gonna be trouble?
22:03Because we could've just kept walking.
22:12Define trouble.
22:13Anything that gets you killed, or worse, and it tends to come hand in hand with groups
22:19of guys in distress.
22:20Let's give these guys a break.
22:22We'll see.
22:23You guys got a problem with your train?
22:25Yeah.
22:26You're standing right in front of it.
22:27Dude, it's a wreck.
22:29It's not so bad from up here.
22:30Send your buddy up to have a look.
22:33Anything goes sideways up there, we won't let them escape.
22:43If I come up there, you better not be murderers or thieves.
22:56I guess you'll have to find out.
23:02A group of guys is what we need.
23:04They're what you think we need.
23:06We're doing fine.
23:07For now.
23:08What about when...
23:09Stop it.
23:11Hey, dude.
23:11I'm Omid.
23:12Lee.
23:13Krista wants to deal with the train.
23:15We're driving it.
23:16Oh, man.
23:22We're not really in the meeting and greeting mood.
23:24I just came up here to see about the tanker.
23:27Well, there it is.
23:28Oh, shit.
23:30Goddamn, you guys have a kid.
23:33What are you doing up here?
23:34Do you know how long it's been since I've seen a kid?
23:37Shit.
23:38What's your name?
23:39Clementine.
23:40Oh, so he gets to swear.
23:42Oh, this is great.
23:44See?
23:45Things are looking up.
23:46You're not her dad.
23:47He down there?
23:48It's that obvious?
23:50To me.
23:51And no, he's not down there.
23:53Huh.
23:54What's your story?
23:55I came across Clementine alone.
24:03First day all of this happened, I was actually incarcerated.
24:07Sick.
24:08Do you have any prison tats?
24:08I, uh, didn't make it that far.
24:11And everybody down there, they're cool?
24:20We just met Chuck, but he seems like an all right guy.
24:23You always have to worry about new people.
24:26I used to love meeting new people.
24:28That must have been a long time ago.
24:30We're sorry for anything that's happened to you guys.
24:32A train is awesome, though.
24:34A tank is your real problem.
24:36We'll help you with it.
24:37But if we see anything we don't like, we're moving on down the road.
24:40Alone.
24:42We'd appreciate the help.
24:43You can't just blast through it, I guess?
24:45If you could get it down, the rest would probably be pretty easy.
24:49We'll start there.
24:50We'll come down and settle in and see if we can help.
25:02It's empty.
25:05Folks probably had their way with that van a while ago.
25:20That's about the only useful thing in here.
25:39There's no way I'm pulling anything apart down there.
25:41Guys, this is Omid and Krista.
26:09Not big on welcomes?
26:12Like I said, we're not really up for meeting folks.
26:15I get it.
26:17We just wanted to say hi and say your train is pretty cool.
26:20But we're not looking for charity.
26:22The plan is to cut that tanker down and be on our way.
26:25Seems like plan enough to me.
26:26You want to start in on that tanker?
26:28I'll get to know the girl for a minute, if you don't mind.
26:31Then why don't I show you how this thing works,
26:34in case something happens?
26:35Really, Ken?
26:36It's probably for the best.
26:39Someone might want to have a look inside of that station back there, too.
26:43Sounds great.
26:44Let's do this thing.
26:45I'm glad someone's managed to keep this spirit.
27:03Learning the ropes can't be too hard, right?
27:29There are a lot of levers I can't wait to use.
27:32I said if something were to happen to me.
27:34Maybe we can drive in shifts.
27:37We'll see.
27:40How have you two made it this far?
27:41You seem dangerously normal.
27:44Krista doesn't let us join groups.
27:46And I'm a fucking scrapper.
27:47I got the feeling she takes care of you.
27:49Please.
27:51I've saved her ass hundreds.
27:54Tens.
27:55Sometimes.
27:59How long since you've been home?
28:01Like six months.
28:02We were on the road for a while, and then, you know.
28:05That's rough.
28:08Our cat is going to be pissed.
28:10Talk to you later.
28:11I don't know what that does yet.
28:15Don't touch it.
28:18I said don't touch it, jackass.
28:23Teaching him anything?
28:24Trying to.
28:25I'm trying to.
28:27This would create one hell of a fireball if we tried to blast through.
28:52Can I follow you over there?
29:09You don't like the new girl?
29:10I do.
29:11But it's like we're a team.
29:13Like you said.
29:14Yeah.
29:15All right.
29:16Come on.
29:17Clementine and I are checking out this train station, all right?
29:20Hustle over if you hear anything.

32:08maybe we can find the key or figure out a
32:10way to knock this door down
32:12Kenny probably have me picked a lock
32:14which actually might work now that we

35:45It did not go so good.
35:47But we're okay. Everything's okay.
35:52What's going on? I thought I heard a gunshot.
35:55We're fine.
36:02We found some walkers.
36:05You and an eight-year-old versus three of them, huh?
36:16We handled it.
36:17Yeah, it looks like. What if you hadn't?
36:21I'm gonna go make sure the noise didn't cause us any problems.
36:24That's a good idea.
36:25I hope you know what you're doing with her.
36:37We're still alive, aren't we?
36:38Now you are.
36:50We got it.
36:51Let's go outside now.
36:52What did we learn?
36:53I'm not ready for a gun.
37:01We learned not to be afraid.
37:03They should have got us.
37:05Or we got them.
37:06Yeah.
37:07You're right.
37:08Fear is the thing that will kill us.
37:10You understand?
37:11Fear?
37:21Fear is the same.
37:24Fear is the same as being ouraczego it is.
37:27Fear is the sign of justice์์ด์.
37:31Fear cannot be fervARK.
37:36Fear is the same sort as being weathered.
37:38Fear should be spent.
37:39Fear is the same or the same.
37:40I found a blowtorch in the station. Should make quick work of the coupling up there.
38:01Excellent. I'll come up there with you to have a look.
38:10Shit. What's that? The holes that are leaking. Turn it off, dude. I don't want my eyebrows burned off.
38:37Better plug that leak with something.
38:48Hope this holds.
38:58That's crazy. Look at it go.
39:01Just about got it.
39:07Whoa. Thanks.
39:09No sweat, man.
39:10This thing is hanging by a thread. The smallest cut and it'll go.
39:18I can't reach it now.
39:20Here. The weak portion of the coupling's out of my reach.
39:29You think it'll be within mine?
39:31Huh. No. But I'm gonna dangle you over that ledge.
39:34The hell you are.
39:38God, you're a real son of a bitch, aren't you?
39:40Shut up and start cutting.
39:42Guys, there's something coming.

41:54Are you hurt?
41:55No. We're okay.
41:57Speak for yourself. My leg is fucked.
41:59We're fine, Clementine. We're fine.
42:29We're fine.
42:32We're fine.
42:34We're fine.
42:44Come on.
42:46Next stop, the Atlantic.
43:01We're going our own way, Clementine and me.
43:13What the fuck does that mean?
43:16I just think it's time she and I parted ways with you.
43:20Omid and Krista can make their own call.
43:25I'm sorry.
43:26We made a plan.
43:27We talked it through.
43:31You'll be all right.
43:36I'll be alive, I guess.
43:39Blood in my heart.
43:40Blood in my brain, at least.
43:42I'll leave you to your thoughts.
43:46She's out cold like I've never seen.
43:58What the...
43:59Can't wait for you to get to Savannah, Clementine.
44:02I got your parents right here.
44:04And you be sure to find me whether Elite wants you to or not.
44:08Now, what I need...
44:09Holy shit.
44:12I thought that fucking thing was broken.
44:15So did I.
44:17Who the fuck was that?
44:19If he's convinced Clementine that he has her parents...
44:21Your parents?
44:22Y'all might want to rethink your plan.
44:31I Kind of Woods...
44:33I don't know.
44:34I don't know.
44:39I don't know.
44:39I pray for a ์ค รok.
44:40My goddamn moment...
44:40There's no one.
44:42I don't know.
44:43There's no doubt.
44:44The park is right to live anymore.
44:46My deaf son joins me.
44:46I don't think he is done.
44:47I don't know.
44:47I don't know.
44:49I don't know.
