Hi, I'm Dan Teehan, the Liberal Party candidate for WANNIT.
00:16
So we've got to make sure that we keep investing in our roads at the federal level.
00:21
What we've seen under the Albanese Labor Government is cuts to our road funding
00:27
and of course the Victorian State Government is broke
00:30
so they aren't providing the money that we need into our local roads
00:35
both to maintain them and to fix them.
00:38
So a coalition government, if elected, will provide $4 for every $1 the state puts into our roads
00:47
so that we can make sure when it comes to the maintenance of our roads
00:51
and fixing our roads, the Commonwealth is making a significant contribution.
00:56
We are also going to announce that we will be working with local government
01:02
to make sure that we can fix their roads as well
01:06
and there's more to come on that during the election campaign.
01:11
But making sure we fund the state government and that 4 to 1 ratio
01:16
because at the moment it's 1 to 1 ratio
01:18
and ensuring that we work with local government is going to be absolutely vital.
01:24
And can I say it's also great to see that the $60 million that we provided
01:30
when we were in government to fix the road between Warrnambool and Port Ferry
01:35
we're seeing action on that at last
01:38
and I'm sure everyone who travels that road will be thrilled
01:42
that that $60 million that a coalition government put into that road
01:47
that the state government are finally fixing it.
01:53
Well, we have to do two things.
01:55
First of all we've got to make sure that we get inflation under control
01:59
and that's through good economic management.
02:02
And a coalition government always manages the economy well
02:07
and that is going to be an absolute key to dealing with cost of living.
02:11
We have to get rid of government waste
02:13
and we have to make sure we prioritise spending into the right areas.
02:17
The second thing we have to do is provide immediate cost of living relief
02:21
and our 25 cents a litre cut to the fuel tax will do that.
02:30
That will save families in Wannan up to $1,500, $2,000 a year.
02:37
So every time you fill up either your petrol or your diesel will be $0.25 a litre cheaper
02:46
and that is immediate.
02:48
So families will get immediate cost of living relief under a coalition government if we're elected.
02:57
Well, working with the aged care sector in Wannan is something that's been a key focus of mine
03:02
over a long period of time now.
03:04
Obviously, we were able to get $14 million for Eggly.
03:08
They've now got a brand new aged care facility.
03:11
We've been able to help Abalee in Mortlake.
03:14
We've also been able to help other aged care providers right round the electorate of Wannan
03:21
and that will continue to be a key focus.
03:23
I've been working, for instance, with the group in Terang
03:27
that are looking at providing independent living and aged care facilities there
03:32
and I look forward to working with them and all the aged care providers right across the electorate.
03:39
We also have to make sure that aged care is properly funded by government.
03:44
And one of the things that we did was put extra funding, not only into aged care,
03:50
but into making sure that people got the support that they needed to be able to stay at home longer.
03:56
And that will continue to be a key focus of a coalition government if we're elected.
04:02
I'm against it. The community has been very strong in voicing its concerns about this proposed offshore wind farm.
04:15
I took a petition to the parliament which had 7,000 signatures
04:20
and that shows the community does not support this.
04:25
The community feel like they've been railroaded on this offshore wind farm.
04:29
We also saw from Portland exactly the same feeling that they felt like they were being railroaded.
04:36
And the government in the end has put it off the coast here of Warrnambool and Port Ferry.
04:40
It's a bad idea. It doesn't have community support.
04:44
It's been put in an environmentally sensitive area where we have wonderful marine bird life,
04:50
wonderful whale breeding area and this is the wrong place for this offshore wind farm.
04:57
And if we are elected to government, we will rip it up.
05:02
Thank you so much for joining us.
05:03
Thanks far.
05:04
Thanks for removes all the reasons carried away.
05:05
Lots of people and other worsened rail markets are up.
05:08
Absolutely not.
05:09
Thanks, guys.
05:10
Thanks a lot.
05:11
Thanks to lots of people, and much.
05:12
And I'll put everything together in a new age,
05:15
of course.
