Wannon MP Dan Tehan addressed a public meeting in Portland about offshore windfarms which was attended by about 150 people.

00:02 because it was the beginning of the consultation period.

00:06 And the consultation period is incredibly important

00:10 because it's the community's opportunity

00:13 and the community's chance to make sure

00:17 that their concerns are heard.

00:20 So I've arranged as a result of this meeting

00:24 that on Thursday, I'm going to see Chris Bowen

00:28 so that the concerns that you have raised here today,

00:32 I will take directly to him.

00:35 So I want you all to make sure

00:38 that you've expressed all the concerns that you do have

00:43 so I can do that.

00:44 So I thank you all for coming along today

00:48 and being prepared to share your views and your concerns

00:52 because it's absolutely important

00:56 that these things are heard.

00:59 For instance, it's been raised around

01:02 whether there would be

01:03 the environmental protection considerations

01:08 that normally would be given.

01:11 Will they be given or not?

01:13 And if people are worried

01:15 that that's not going to be the case, as we've heard,

01:17 well, we've got to make sure that that is the case.

01:21 The impact on the wildlife, especially on birds,

01:29 and also that Peter has mentioned and Andrew mentioned.

01:32 I mean, these are all incredibly important considerations.
